    The third part is the big one: How long does it take for your body to return to normalcy? I’m sure the time differs from person to person. For me, it got better and better each day until, finally, at five months, I found my old self coming back! Really, it was five months to the day that I quit drinking cold turkey, when I felt a clarity of mind and sharpness of reasoned thought. By the way, I had previously been a regular consumer and abuser of alcohol for 26 years! So I hope my story helps, and I wish everyone the best!

      There are many factors in quitting drinking including eg motivation and support from family.
      One place I found that successfully combines these is the Adoette Drink Plan (see the website SebsMagicTactic.com) definately the most helpful idea that I've heard of.
      look at all the site and interesting reviews.

    I can drink and since my body has a hyper metabolism that means my buzz completely goes away and I can continue drinking. I still get a buzz but it only lasts like ten minutes. Say I drink 3 beers in 30 min then my buzz is gone by 40 min.

    One of the times I stopped drinking
    I was in rough shape, I stopped quite a few hours then decided to go to the hospital, they drew my blood and I had no alcohol in my system but I was still very sick,had a hard time breathing even, they gave me around 6 Ativan to take for the next day,I could tell this one nurse kinda thought I was lying
    But yea , I’ve been on benders since then, if I stick w just beer, 2 days I’m ok
    More like 3 or 4 I’m almost 100%
    Hard liquor is about 3 to 5 days
    I go as long as I can, I’m going sober again, never wanna go back to wasting my time body and people think ur like a wimp or loser but ya got to gear up and just abstain from alcohol just do it and keep trying even if you fall , why get in a wreck why hurt yourself or liver you don’t have to hit rock bottom just stop
    And keep trying

      I was a hardcore alcoholic and I knew that I was on a pathway to total destruction and I wanted to stop but everywhere I went all the people that I knew were on something and alcohol !!! I met someone at a bar and we continued to drink and I was in a different state but as usual I can make friends easily but deep in my heart I knew it was only a matter of time and the wheels began to fall off the tracks but life was still so good that I started to think hey it’s ok everybody else does it and I’ll be ok ! Wrong Wrong Wrong ? I’ve been a carpenter and a musician most of my life and I was able to go anywhere in the world and find work or a good way for life and please hear me God will and can stop anything anytime anywhere !!! My point is that if you think you can just do whatever you want or they’re is no God I promise you & I mean promise you that if he wants you and you to be saved he can & will lock 🔒 you and everything you try to do up until you realize that he’s after you and in charge of your whole life and family !!!!!!? Jesus Christ is the answer that will set you free and I know that there’s people that don’t believe me and it’s ok if you really think you’re smarter than the one that has given you everything and you’re next breath but at least prove it to yourself and just read 1st John in any Bible and then tell me that you still don’t believe ????

    Thank you Annie. I drank everyday for over 20years. I've listened to your book 6 times and I've taken something new from it each time. After listening to your book the first time I stopped drinking for 2 months. I now drink from time to time but I want to stop completely. I've realized, thanks to your book when I feel I need a drink to relax, it's actually the withdrawal I'm feeling not the drink. Some day I'll part ways from alcohol and never look back.

    I appreciate this explanation, but I think that it's misleading (and incorrect) to say that it takes 10 days for alcohol to leave the body. In this explanation, you're saying that it takes 10 days for your body to readjust, which is totally different than the statement that "it takes 10 days for alcohol to leave the body" (a claim that is frequently stated on the Alcohol Experiment videos/forum). Also, there's no reference to explain where this "10 days" claim comes from. People's tolerance to alcohol certainly isn't re-set in 10 days (e.g. If I drink regularly, and then stop for 10 days, my tolerance will still be higher than someone who rarely drinks; if we intake the same amount of alcohol, it will have less of an affect on me than on someone who rarely drinks, even if I have abstained for 10 days).

  • @Droppinthehammer
    @Droppinthehammer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I believe you are incorrect. Once you burn the alcohol off (One drink per hour) it metabolizes into Ethyl glucuronide. So if you're tested by breathe, blood, or urine, (After 12 hours depending on how much you drank) alcohol won't show up. However, if and ETG test is done, it will show the metabolites for up to 84 hours.

    • @ThisNakedMind
      @ThisNakedMind  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not strictly speaking to metabolizing alcohol but to completely regulate again from all the effects from alcohol.

      I couldn't tell you how long it will take you to metabolize the alcohol. So many factors contribute to that.

    Annie, one of the biggest reasons for my six relapses in the past two years is not so much due to cravings but more to do with being unable to take the constant insomnia and shakes, loss of appetite and general malaise following a quit.
    I’ve recently started using the TSM method. I take 50 mg of Naltrexone an hour before I drink and I drink WAY less. Instead of two bottles I get bored and lose interest in drinking after a glass or two. It’s absolutely amazing considering that I’ve been averaging two bottles a day for about the past six years (and I have the bank account to prove it...)
    My goal is to taper off over the next month and then do a full on quit.
    I combine the TSM with the thoughts, insights, opinions, guidance, etc. of you, Craig, and Kevin. So in effect I’m taking a two pronged approach. After a forty year drinking “career “ I finally found something that seems to be working for me.
    I’d love to hear your thoughts regarding TSM. If you’re not familiar with it I highly recommend Claudia Christian’s Ted talk.
    All the best.
    Scott

      THAT’S where I learned about TSM/Claudia Christian. I’d completely forgot. 🤭
      Therefore a huge thank you for bringing her on your blog. Besides your book I have a lot to be grateful to you for Annie.

      @@ThisNakedMind hii, I wanted to comment and tell my personal experience. I was on naltrexone and it did Not work for me. I think the reason is because I was a straight vodka drinker, I always took shots. The doctors and others say you Can't get drunk while on naltrexone, but I am proof that is not true. I was able to still get drunk, but I had to drink alot more to get to that point. So I think naltrexone can work for people that drink beer or wine, but definitely not for anyone that drinks hard liquors straight

    I am ashamed to say I drank about 3 litres of bourbon over 4 days as I couldn't take anymore. I was at hospital on Tuesday and am getting terrible body buzzing and auditory hallucinations. Hospital sent me home and my GP could not see me on Friday due to Covid rules. I was given 16 x2mg diazepam to take over 4 days from Friday. However I am still getting buzzing and the auditory hallucinations. I went on zoom to an alcohol meeting and everyone is telling me I should be ok by now! I am scared out of my wits. Can you please please explain what is happening

    Hi Annie, in relation to this. How long does it take for the body to recover from alcohol? Completely? Thanks Tracey

    • @ThisNakedMind
      @ThisNakedMind  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's no cut and dry answer for that as so many other factors play into the damage that was done to the body by alcohol. Amount of drinking how long you drank, other medical conditions etc.

      Not really. At this point the effects are at a chemical and blood level and must be processed.

      It may leave the urine stream quicker but it affects other systems much longer.
