      I used to see grouse any time I was in the woods here in Virginia; for the last 25 years I've been lucky to even hear one "beating" once or twice in a year's time.

    This is my first time on your channel and when you asked your viewers to choose a favorite, I didn't think that it would be possible because they all are so wonderfully unique. But I have to admit that seeing the young moose frolicking in the water reminded me of how our children can play and be amused at the wonders of nature, I found my favorite. Thank you.

      @@MaineWoodsbooger I’m keenly interested in our local flora and fauna, I live in eastern Ontario. The trail cameras footage you are sharing are gems. I’ve been tramping around for more than 50 years and have some fine memories and encounters with wildlife.
      Some of the footage you have might never have been recorded. Like the Cat catching the weasel? And many other things.
      Thank you for sharing that. Also great to see Moose are doing well in Maine! I also thought your footage of the cougar? Was interesting, was that a cougar on your site , or am I think of another channel? If it’s a cougar, then that’s a big deal.

    From what I've seen of trail cam vids on YT this content is top notch! Makes me want to get a camera that good for the farm here (south of Sebago).
    How far south did you catch those Moose? We don't get them often but I recently had a family of white-tails around the green house.

      suggestion: subtitling the species ID might appeal to viewers from away if they're interested in learning more about the animals here

      Thanks! I rarely get moose in the southern Maine, but the western mountains and further north are very productive. Trail cams are a ton of fun for sure, never know what you're going to get. As far as the naming the species, I do sometimes do that, and I appreciate the suggestion!

    Anything with babies would be high on my list. I have a question: I know conservations groups tag wild animals for different reasons (see the moose in this video) but I always worry about them getting caught on a branch or something. Are these breakaway collars?

    • @MaineWoodsbooger
      @MaineWoodsbooger  ปีที่แล้ว

      I love getting babies on the cams, and I always hope to get more. As far as the collar, the biologists leave it loose for growth, but I neglected to ask if they are break away. I do dooubt it though, and they did say getting hung up hasn't been an issue.

    • @MaineWoodsbooger
      @MaineWoodsbooger  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Dona, and I hope you get some nice footage/pics! That's a great question, and to be honest I've spent years in the woods and have learned so much about the species in my area. I also read as many books as I can, and then get out in the woods. There is a lot of trial and error. I always look for food, water, and habitat.

      Thanks! That's a great question actually. I have studied wildlife basically my entire life and have been an avid outdoorsman as well. I study the habits of different species and learn as much as I can about them. Then, it's just scouting out locations, and putting boots on the ground. There is a lot of failures as well. I've tried some locations that I thought were going to be epic, and nothing! I find google earth to be a great tool.

    • @207wild
      @207wild ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MaineWoodsbooger Thanks for the reply! There is definitely more to putting out cameras then what most people think! My goal this year is for more scouting and to get my boots on the ground more! Over the past month I've been doing a lot of searching with online maps looking for potential locations I want to check out this spring! Looking to target new species and terrain. Would like to have the content to be able to post more. I started a few years ago but looking to get back into BIG time this year!

      @@207wild. I’m no expert, just thought I’ll put it out there- you may need to wait some time after setting up your camera to give your scent time to wear away. Some animals may be very sensitive and avoid the entire area with your scent, which may take weeks to wear away. So sites you chose without success may turn to gold after your traces are gone 😊

      @@MaineWoodsbooger did you know the animals go to heaven with us? i got this news recently its fantastic. first Jesus turned me into a weirdo pet prophet and gave me songs to call the animals like Noah must have done. and then showed me verses about it. here ill show you and if you want i can give you some childrens stories about the animals He gave me.
      Jesus gave me more scripture confirmation on the animals and its sweet! one of the fun jobs of the two witnesses is this, there are a lot of other perks and a lot of agony
      The two witnesses are pet prophets look at this we know who they are.
      Eye has not seen nor ear heard of the things God has prepared for us at the end times. Its more exciting than scary to me.
      who ever even heard of a pet prophet? Jesus has made a woman pet prophet singing like Noah and Mrs Noah to call the animals the first thing i got for the end times was seeing all the animals singing before the throne of God and the rhinoceros rapture story that later He gave me ten verses about. this is so fun.
      Joke from Jesus soon they will be calling you a false pet prophet saying you got my dawgs song wrong.
      Dont worry about the animals. look i found a verse about the animals and the singing woman pet prophet! One of the two witnesses is a woman if you read the bible and stop assuming who it is God will show you. I know her and i knew it He is taking the animals with a covenant
      [Hos 2:14-15, 18-19 KJV] 14 Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. 15 And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall *****(((((sing)))))**** there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. ... 18 ****(((((((And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and [with] the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely.)))))))*****19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
      Some kind of seal song for the animals they are all different like our seals too some are funny even. The 144000 seals also look like new names and seal songs.
      John the revelator is the other witness and he also saw the animals singing before the throne like i did. He is one of the witnesses
      [Rev 5:13 KJV] 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, [be] unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
      I saw them from one new moon to another and one sabbath to another singing then heard Jesus singing back.
      [Isa 66:23 KJV] 23 And it shall come to pass, [that] from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.
      [Isa 34:14-17 KJV] 14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest. 15 There shall the great owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate. 16 Seek ye out of the book of the LORD, and read: no one of these shall fail, none shall want her mate: for my mouth it hath commanded, and his spirit it hath gathered them. 17 And he hath cast the lot for them, and his hand hath divided it unto them by line: they shall possess it for ever, from generation to generation shall they dwell therein.
      Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. - Psa 69:34 KJV
      one of the songs
      A mouse named Gravy
      Lived in a shoe
      Rode in your pocket
      And comforted you
      He had a good time
      He did say to me
      Riding around
      with my sister and me
      He started to creak
      And grew very old
      So he called the the Lord
      And his story he told
      The Lord God Almighty
      Looked down from on high
      And took him to heaven
      After he died
      Now he is waiting
      In his wooden shoe
      And soon you can meet him
      And talk with him too
