    Cain here. *New* (?) pattern. Hehe. U r right tho. Was out fluking today here in CT... Advantages of fishing high: 1) they commit before they get a good look at the bait, 2) it hauls them up instead of off the structure or towards the boat, 3) they like looking up, 4) fish swimming around looking/darting up at surface are more active... they came from fifteen feet today, 5) biggest: bass like to pin food against something (a weed wall, the bottom, or the surface) and are way more likely to commit to something they can corral/pin. They dont like spending energy on a maybe. Underwater camera footage shows how a bass will seem to show zero interest in a bait fish until it makes a wrong move and its trajectory intersects a barrier of some sort. Then suddenly the bass makes its move... They must have geometry and tracking lines hard wired. This is also why I like dragging a jig uphill instead of downhill. Seems like bass like that the bait is headed toward a dead end. Think of bass like muggers who hide in shadows, looking for an easy victim... I've said too much. ;)

    Jonny - Another excellent video! Your annotations on the screen videos are a valuable addition. Question: can you reframe the screen video slightly so the range scale on Livescope isn't cut off at the top? Just a few pixels more would do it.

    I am in the camp who despises Livescope...I mean let's be blunt, it really does turn fishing into a video game and is very much "cheating" in a sense...but still, this was an interesting video as far as the fish behavior part.

    This is what I need to learn to do I have a question though how can you tell that a school of fish is a school of bass? I know there are several things experience being the best. Size all that stuff but I see Fish on the electronics and if you put the scope down their fish everywhere but I can never get any to bite. Or when you bring your bait through them you realize your baits signature is the same size as the fish. So again I asked how do you know that that school of fish is a school of bass

      @@FishtheMoment thank you very much. I've probably seen the video before if it was published in the last couple of years. and if so I will watch it again as that's part of my issue. Spend a lot of time throwing baits at fish that either don't turn out to be bass or just won't bite anything I throw at them

    This is what I’ve been doing on the East coast. It’s awesome. They won’t hit bait presented down to them. They are killing the real thing (shad) near the surface. Anything that sinks down they ignore. Watching them jet up to hit the bait is awesome.

    You’re a very intelligent angler. I mean thats coming from a young(er-35yr) experienced angler too who has a brain packed full of knowledge. But you’ve clearly put in a ton of time to this lake to dissect their behavior.. will it be like that everywhere? For both LMB, SMB? You’re kinda proving yes- maybe even the smallmouth might be more agressive especially if schooled w largemouth. Very interesting information. Thanks for the work you put in dude. I wish somehow we could collab and I could show you some be the quality black bass I’ve been catching in the north east (upstate yankee) near the Great Sacandaga. My light book is over 520 fish in the 2024 year- 100 might be walleyes, but majority are 2 to 4 pound black bass . And I’m smashing them- getting a limit every outing in bodies of water people struggle hard on, it’s small and grass takes over majority of it and you need to know how to fish grass..but there’s been some sneaky rigs I’ve been using that I don’t see anyone else doing.. I’d love to share with you and your thoughts of why it works so well and maybe tips of how to make it even better…good job out there man thanks for all this work you put in for us

      I am genuinely curious, how would removing Livescope from the videos make them more informative or easier for you to replicate on your lake without Livescope? I graphed both areas with traditional sonar first in the video and pointed out the fish. I also showed my mapping.
      In my opinion, my videos show anglers how to find fish without livescope, only traditional sonar, and I only add livescope in to give a additional information when I am fishing the area rather than just showing my back and setting the hook. You can easily line up on the fish in this video with waypoints and mapping or a marker buoy.

    • @petecook1611

      Just watching the livescope catches is boring to watch the rest I enjoy. I can find fish w my si/di the one I have trouble w is 2d I'm just not comfortable w that view yet but there again my 2d doesn't look as good as your on my birds, maybe setting changes. Sometimes when graphing so I have went over fish that I didn't know were fish no 2 images are the same so I enjoy seeing diff scenarios. So I guess what this boils down to is I don't have ffs nor can I justify spending $3800 to get one at this time so I rely on traditional sonar an mega 360..I'm not gonna stop watching your vids but the catching using ffs I just can't watch. I still think finding fish is the hardest not catching them. If u find them or get around them most of us I would think by now can catch them FINDING is where the value is but that's my opinion on it. Thanks bro

      @FishtheMoment  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the response! I asked because I am still on the fence about adding the Livescope views because I don't really need it 90% of the time to catch the fish I'm targeting. I'm trying to find a middle ground between my old fishing style and the new techniques with Livescope, but it's been hard to find a good balance. Some days I just want to take Livescope off the boat and be done with it haha

    • @FishtheMoment
      @FishtheMoment  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This concept of keeping the bait within 5ft of the surface works for Largemouth as well. However, if the water is more stained (1-3ft of visibility), they won't come up out of deep water as far for the bait. Maybe 5-10ft in stained water vs 15-20ft in clear water.
      In more stained water, I would look for bass suspended in 10ft or less for this technique and throw a larger bait that gives off more flash and vibration.
