One of the earliest organ works by Hermann Schroeder (1904-1984), composed in 1931. Very nice pieces, full of different characters and emotions. It is good to hear these pieces in such a wonderful interpretation! Thanks!
Wonderful works, fresh, inventive, and taut. On the basis of this I would say that Schroeder is a major organ composer. Stamm performs them with total authority and considerable flair. Thanks for posting !!!
My mentor Gerald Bales was influenced by HS and PH. Hermann Schroeder writes for the organ far better than PH did. Open fourths and fifths abound. In the right hands it's good stuff. I love Schroeder's compositions. He's an underrated composer of organ work that deserves greater attention. I have played this work and three Sonatas and a couple of other works but it's the Christ Lag in Todesbanden that is his magnum opus. No doubt in American circles he's regarded? Perhaps an influence on Paul Manz?
