I don't know if being 4th wall/meta was actually ever illegal cartoons or even rare. The Looney Tunes had a lot of meta moments and heck Raphel of the 87 Ninja Turtles could get fairly meta. I guess they never went ot the extremes of "let me show you all this is not only a cartoon but we're ending" but there was still some meta self awareness of it at least.

@@highlandave8507 Uh Ren and Stimpy and Rocko's Modern Life directly broke the fourth wall several times. Hell Ren and Stimpy have a segment at the end talking about their show as well as answering viewer mail and what not so don't know what this "can't be meta" comes from.

Second off did I ever say "oh they didn't get pushback for the network on that?" No I just said they had cartoons that broke the fourth wall which was the entire point Shady RK9 was making. When he said "Angry Beavers was the first to go meta back when that was actually illegal in cartoons" which yeah was not the case. If he had specified "Angry Beavers was the first show to reference their own cancellation and complain about it within the show" that would be different but that didn't happen. I do think now though a show actually can be more referencial and meta depending on the context of this sort of thing. Batman the Brave and the bold specifically ended on a super meta note in that regard.
I always wonder why some series, regardless or how popular they are or not, will have fan art so accurate/spot on to the source those unaware might think it's made by official creators. But some series have very little to zero accurate fan art. There's stuff out there I only fave, like and bookmark simply because of the artist's accuracy to the source. I say because even if some series never return to the spotlight it's still pretty lit seeing accurate fan art fill the void.

When I was a kid this was actually my favorite show. Also hoping this coming Halloween you make a video you talk about the shows Halloween Special - The Day the World Got Really Screwed Up arguably one of the best Halloween Cartoon special that not allot of people talk about.
This show was a big part of my life throughout Elementary and ended as I entered middle school so the timing of everything was perfect for me but I’ll always remember the fun I had with this series. Thanks for bringing me a bit of closure I didn’t know I needed!
It would be awesome to see this not only come back with a special ep, but have a full on movie dedicated to such a fun concept! I'm sure they'd be able to pull it off, bringing back old fans and new ones! Maybe even sparking interest in a comeback!
Angry Beavers (a very strange name) was proably one of the most underrated shows on the network. It gets very little love for having two epic voice actors and very interesting characters. I remember loving the disco episodes and the bear with the deep sexy voice.
Loved this show! We would quote silly moments and sayings from the show. Especially, the black and white horror movie episode. My mother absolutely loved Dagget and got the biggest kick out of his antics 👍😁
I don't think cartoons for kids being unable to have actual endings is as much a thing now but yeah that was something Nick was ridiculously strict on. Heck the first Nicktoon to have a definite end was Danny Phantom... which no one even liked so the first that had an ending anyone could agree on was Avatar The Last Airbender. Though Avatar's much more of a story/needs to air in a certain order cartoon then Angry Beavers was.
It's so funny how things can make an impression on you and influence you. As a kid I watched this show and the unique and silly way they would pronounce words used to make me laugh so hard I'd run around the house doing the same thing. I'm about to turn 30 and I still to this day do that. Thanks for the memories.

Legit just re-watch the show out of the blue. Finished it the other day and... it sure did have a weird ending. Went to Q up the would be next episode and there wasn't one! Norb and Dag still made me laugh and lowkey feel stuff 20 years later. (Kid friendly use to scare me, but now only gives me mild creeps). It drips 90s, but puts the boys in situations and or teaches them lessons that are timeless. You could EASILY make it 20X0 friendly and lose nothing. Had to chime in before I watched the video lol. I'll peep back after. Let's goooo
My answer is yes, I adored this show as a kid because to young me, it was my older brother and me as cartoons, we still even use some of the phrases from it ("Eh Spooty thing!). So this show holds a special place in my heart and I hope it gets something for the joy it brought to people like me over 20 years back
I really thought the " intended ending" was an April Fools' joke from the voice actors and limited old crew writers way back when I first ran across the audio. Glad the storyboards and Micah Wright came through to solidify it all being real 😂.
My first email address and AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) referenced this show - Angrybeavers with random numbers. Several times complete strangers in public chatrooms thought my username was referring to something more... mature. Great times. Still one of my favorite childhood shows.

I know there's a fan collab going to get Bye Bye Beavers animated but what if Angry Beavers got a revival special Like Zim and Roco and it takes place after the "April Fools" part of the episode and instead of the duo being in on the joke they are forced to confront a world where their show is truly over?

The whole "April Fools," tag in it, would of really sold it as part of a re-run. I think just airing it random, would make some viewers who never catch it the first time, question, until that tag. Just wish the station wasn't hard on the team. If they weren't, the episode would of been done, but minus the jabs. As you already pointed out, the whole fourth wall breaking thing, has became somewhat a norm in shows like this now. Which I always find fun and makes a nice fun inside jokes for the viewers. Seeing the episode in full would make my day

I wasn't much of a fan of Angry Beavers, but I would be interested to watch and listen to the Bye Bye Beavers as an animation poking fun at Nickelodeon's business practices... As the presented criticisms are more and more relevant as they want to rebrand and rebuild several cartoons that had already concluded, because money with reruns.

Yeah, the 90s was ridiculous. I was one of the only kindergarteners who knew what the f word was so you can imagine how dumb it was to me that these teachers, who were supposed to be smarter and more "emotionally mature" than me, would throw massive hissy fits whenever I uttered it. My dad even started to say "freakin" which I started copying him because that's what you do as a kid and oh my God were the teachers just as dumb when it came to that word. Seriously, the nonsense that I saw first hand in kindergarten literally shaped my worldview.
I definitely bought the boxset at the start of the year. I was on leave for a while so it was nice to replicate that Saturday morning carroon feeling with this show ❤
A while back, a guy came in my sign shop to get some decals to promote a fan-animated version of this using the audio. I was in work mode and he was really enthusiastic, so I didn't get all the details on this story. Thanks for the video giving me the extra information. This guy said he was on TH-cam, but I figured Nick would copystrike him quickly, I just didn't want to burst his bubble.
And the crazy part is…the fact Nick is even Acknowledging Angry Beavers by (Allegedly) having Norbert & Dagget in N:ASB2 is impressive even in itself. 😉
GIVE US BYE BYE BEAVERS. I grew up with this show. It's only fitting that it comes back one last time in my adulthood, kind of like a right of passage.
Alright, I just want to say thank you. I saw Alley Oops when it first aired, and heard the censor bleep. I had thought Norbert told Dagget to F off, and was startled. The next time I tracked down the episode, it had apparently been redubbed. So I just thought I was an idiot and never re-examined it until now. So yeah, thank you!

Used to watch this show with my father all the time. There were a lot of those 90s cartoons that he and I both really liked. I remember the first time I heard Spanish flea it kind of blew my mind not realizing they had borrowed the inro theme for the show

Alright, I just want to say thank you. I saw Alley Oops when it first aired, and heard the censor bleep. I had thought Norbert told Dagget to F off, and was startled. The next time I tracked down the episode, it had apparently been redubbed. So I just thought I was an idiot and never re-examined it until now. So yeah, thank you!

Angry Beavers was one of my favorite cartoon shows. It's a shame that it got shit canned in this manner. Where some programs aimed at the set target audience for younger people ARE A LOT MORE inappropriate. Sad. Long live our Beavers.

Used to watch this show with my father all the time. There were a lot of those 90s cartoons that he and I both really liked. I remember the first time I heard Spanish flea it kind of blew my mind not realizing they had borrowed the inro theme for the show
Loved this series as a kid. My favorite one will always be that one when they spoke in Spanish and they were luchadores.
