Not a fan of Monsta X but I like a lot of their music and this is the first time I've seen a group be so open and say stuff like "we didn't write that", "the company picked the songs", I love their honesty.

Yes bcs they write their songs since debut, mostly in Korean ♡♡ I mean if in this case they don't wrote it, it's okay and as you say they're open with that ^^ for example all members participated on some songs of the first english album

I looooove the fact, that you also ask about No Limit, the korean Album. Maybe they didn't have a hand in the making of the Dreaming, but you can see how talented they are listening to their korean albums where they do participate. Also, The Dreaming sounds like them, All About Love sounds like them, cause they put so much of them in everything they do, and that's why we loved them so much.

As someone actively learning Korean I commend any and everyone who does their best to speak in another language as best they can. It's a huge internal challenge but a battle worth fighting.

I love how they ask the host questions back and you can see all of them are trying their best. Especially since all 5 members are now established hosts in korea and they have so much insight to give, I wonder if they actually put on a serious interpreter not just Changkyun, the answers of all members may be as deep as the questions being asked. I'd love to hear about that because no one asks these questions in korean variety shows
They had an interpreter here (you can hear them sometimes translating the questions or just clarifying things), but all the members have improved so much with their English. They can understand most of what is being asked, they just need support sometimes when giving longer answers. I was very impressed by how they seemed to be giving very thoughtful answers where they were trying to be as honest as possible and helping each other out with completing their sentences. Especially liked when Jooheon said "Don't go up, just look forward and go straight" in regards to success and Minhyuk mentioned that its shared (not just personal).
ahh this is why I love Monsta X. At 33:36 as Hyungwon talks, Changkyunnir is complementing him on his English proficiency! We love members THATS support and praise each other
Right before that at 26:58 he also encouraged Hyungwon to speak... they are adorable.

I really like what Jooheon said. "Don't go up, just look forward, go straight." If you go up you can go down but if you go straight you have no reason to turning back. If you go up you can fall but if you go straight and eventually get lost in the path you can take your time, find your steps again and keep going forward.

there were a LOT of parts in the interview where the interviewers and mx were confused.
(for the track "secrets.")
#1. secret - japanese track on japanese album
#2. secrets - an english track on a korean album
#3. secrets - english track on english album
hyungwon wrote secrets (#2) by himself in korean, and wanted to challenge himself writing in english. (a member said he later consulted for help.)
shout out to mx. learning new language isn't easy and very confusing. confidence and efforts are key as they said! sse still should've hired a translator tho.

They always have a translator, it's up to the guys whether they want them to assist or not and it's great that they chose not to - even though there was confusion on points made. Love that their confidence has grown so much.
I think although there was some confusion they all did a great job of working through it. Zach and Dan did a pretty thorough job researching to even know there were two Secrets...
@SARA AVENALI We can see during the whole interview that he did his reaserched. Releasing 3 songs called Secrets in the same year can be confusing too lmao especially when one is fully in english in a korean album.
It is funny that in every interview that they have in Korea I.M barely speaks, but in the USA Daniel just can not shut up. I love it!!! But also I want to listen to all of them. Maybe in the future when they get even better in English they will express themselves more! I love u all!!!! Jooheon you are so amazing thank you for Rush Hour!!!! It makes me feel some type of way that they dont think they are successful, I wish they could see from our perspective just how much they have accomplished since their debut, how talented they are and most importantly I will like them to know that things like billboard or grammys are not the only things that makes someone successful, but making things that are meaningful to the people who listens to it IS being a successful artist, many singers have #1 songs that are empty and popular for a moment and then forgotten, I think that to all monbebes everything Monsta does is something that we are going to treasure for many more years and even after they retire because they do it from their hearts and always thinking about us, to me that is so much more special and what being an artist truly means. Love u guys, I hope you never change your humble, kind and beautiful hearts.

and i loved how zach defined success back ! Like even for us people, the hustle culture is real, becoming the top is 'success'. But now theres a changing perspective e.g having a work-life balance, being truly happy is success

Kihyun seems quite tired here and even dropped his mic on his lap for a moment. The way he's speaking also doesn't really seem like his usual self. Maybe it's jet-lag or their sleeping schedules got messed up, but I hope he's doing better and can get some rest. We all know he'll keep working even if everyone around him tells him to rest or recover. Of course, the same applies for the other members. Go get some rest when you can, boys!
Zach and Dan are two amazing guys. They're not like those unprofessional interviewers who ask awkward or dumb questions. They are so nice. I really like their interviews. Thank you for inviting Monsta X ♡
hyungwon felt so proud telling that now he writes songs, and I am happy that he acknowledged his ability. he is truly the most talented member with no doubt. as a monbebe, I can say this. eventhough another members are the main vocalist, the main dancer, and the main rapper, he can dance like a main dancer, dj like an expert, model, act, ahh even he is a good entertainer.

Zach is my favorite interviewer for Korean artist to go to when in America, he always is able to pull the conversation forward with the answers from artists even if they struggle some with communication. He respects them as artists and not like other interview who revolve everything around a gimmicky kpop group perspective.
Omg changkyun was so funny and sassy as usual. He’s really starting to grow on me. Jooheon was so cute and minhyuk did great too. I love them all so much I definitely hope there’s a god and he doesn’t cancel their tour!

I'm late but I.M looks like a CEO here and I'm absolutely here for it. Also Monsta X is so incredibly talented and their songs sound so different! For me personally I don't get attracted to a lot of groups because they don't really have that unique feeling to their songs, like you KNOW it's their style, but Monsta X has captured that feeling so well and it's just a shame that they're not more popular. Same with Oneus.💝
Awesome interview as expected! It's sad to think that MONSTA X don't feel successful . Like grammys and amas would make them feel that. And if they don't reach that dream which is rare for Kpop will they not be fulfilled? I think just from having a loyal growing fanbase that love and support their music and hard work is Success itself
I think some of this was a bit lost in translation. What I took from it is that they don't feel successful necessarily cause they don't really feel they know what success is or means. They're just focused on doing a good job for their fans, families, and company. If perhaps they did things like the AMAs or topped billboard they suggest "maybe" they'd feel successful then but even then it seems more like they don't really know what'll do it, just that those may be things that make them feeel that way. Yet I still took that they feel good about what they've done/are doing since their families are proud and they're still going strong. Just make takeaway anyway.
i think you misunderstood what the context are...its not that they will feel successful when they won awards but its just like what minhyuk said..they dont really know what success means and how it was defined..but people around them said that they were already succesful so it is enough for them

No. You got it wrong. They don’t feel successful not because they don’t win awards or didn’t get to attend huge events. It’s because their numbers are not doing so well compared to other kpop groups with the similar seniority. You see, they don’t chart high, their albums and merch don’t sell well, even their current arena tours aren’t selling out tickets. Whereas Ateez who is a younger group already has multiple soldout arenas.
Kihyun's English is so good! I'm so impressed with him being the first to say "Not just a party, THE party" like... that's advanced for someone who speaks Korean.
Five out of seven songs in their latest korean album No Limit is self-produced so if anyone is curious about their personal musical colour then do check that album out!

i love monsta x on the zach sang show! it's always refreshing and honest. the boys are so relaxed. all the members talked freely so it was really nice to see them so comfortable. :)
For all the not fans, let me tell you about yep, they don't write the songs of their new english album but, in Korea, they use to write and compose their own songs, mainly, Joohoney (who is producer too), Changkyun and Hyungwon.
Hey Zach thanks for having MonstaX & making them feel comfortable! The Dreaming truly is a AMAZING , they might have not written the songs but they brought the MonstaX essence to the album ! Side note highly recommend listening to “Secrets” from the korean album One of Kind that Hyungwon wrote - such a masterpiece he did so good!

I mean it wasn't even not caring about SSE, in the sense that it wasn't thrown in out of context to snub them. The context was their last appearance which was when they were 7 members, so it was relevent. You could tell their response was "we can't talk about it" and Zack quickly moved on to focus on Shownu's military service and absence so it wasn't awkward.

fair play for zach asking the question about the “2 members missing” the fact they can’t openly speak about wonho and wonho the same with his former group is absolutely disgusting from sse. they’re a disgrace
He didn't really ask... he mentioned it and quickly moved on when you could tell that they were uncomfortable. I like that Zack didn't pressure them to address Wonho and just asked about Shownu's absence. He's aware that there are some things they can't speak openly about.
And yes, it's stupid that they can't talk openly about it after 2 yrs with Wonho proven innocent and still under SSE on a sublabel.
Sickening behaviour from SSE
I'd like to add that it's not fully sse's fault sadly... There's a huge pressure on them from "fans" who still hate Wonho (those kind of people who left comments on the article about Kihyun, Changki and Wonho arriving from Jeju together, saying they shouldn't advertise still being friends with Wonho). Sse just doesn't want to risk loosing anf angering those "fans" of Mx. It's incredibly sad, and neither we nor sse can do anything about them.
@@boglarkapaksa5076 the thing that bothers me is that the company has catered to the very small minority when the majority just want them, at the least, to see interactions out in the open. he’s literally being erased from the group’s history. that can’t just be because the minority want it. if they’re brave enough i think they’d do something about it, but they do what the minority wishes unfortunately

And i think we all agree that success definition is unique, different and can be something that cant be measure… their thoughts only define they’re different from other group… if you know what i mean…

I loved everything about this interview. I love that everyone spoke, everyone attempted English, Zach seamlessly responded and invited Korean responses. I love the raw glimpse into who Monsta X is and each individuals character. I love that Dan did his research...Monsta X captivated me and stole my heart a little over a year ago...this interview just reminds why I love their music and them. They try their hardest not to act like idiots but they're human and always striving to be better for Monbebe.
