I just wanted to say, I absolutely love your filming style Niko, but what I loved even more was the POV of someone watching midway down the couloir 11:02 , it just showcased how incredibly steep the terrain your skiing really is and makes for just that little bit better of an already incredible watch!
the village of Bernt, Sæbø, what a surprise to recognize it here when I slept here one day during a trip to Norway 3 years ago. I remember it like yesterday, I went for a hike in the mountain and at the top there was a swing with a great view on the fjord So happy You guys have a magnificent country
Dude you are an inspiration: thank you for showing the real side of ski touring... it is also digging pits an sometimes, despite all effort put in, deciding to turn around. Seeing this brought tears to my eyes: the mountains are majestic, skiing (or telemark) touring is awesome. I miss it so much. Thank you for the memories.
I’ve got some nerve damage that has led to some muscle loss in my right leg. It’s brought me down and been a weight on my shoulders for quite some time. Irs caused me to dial back my ski objectives. This video really makes me want to put in the work so I can go get after it like I used to. Thank you for making it! Such an awesome story to share. I’m sure I’m not the only one who watched and had it touch their life.
I know someone who have very bad knees due to motorcycle, he use a little system ( simple exoskeleton ) so most of the weight is not carried by his knees when skiing
Thank you so much for the videos Niko. I am currently stuck at home after another achilles rupture. So inspired by Bernt, can't wait to start rehab/training and return to the things I love.
Hey man! I love your videos & thumbnails! I just had the perception of watching a vacuum cleaner on the thumbnail of this video… I hope this helps as feedback for more viewers to watch your work! It deserves to inspire thousands of people! Thanks for the great work ❤ really inspiring
Great videos keep them coming Nikolai!!! Very inspiring would love to ride these types of lines one day. This is coming from a snowboarder you make me want to ski!
I'm only just getting into backcountry terrain, but in all my avalanche safety courses I've been cautioned against digging pits to determine if our planned line is "in". A pit was never supposed to give a go-ahead, only a call to take more caution with terrain choice. Obviously you didn't show the entire process of your pit, but from what was shown, I got the impression that your pit boosted your confidence. I'd be interested in hearing what your perspective is on the snowpack that day.
I’m doing a more detailed video on how I work in avalanche terrain. We only use pits when uncertain about the snowpack, generally when entering a new area. To get information
Niko you gotta change the thumbnail photo to 12:05 when he sticks his robot foot out over the drop or layer a close up of that foot one top of the current thumbnail. That's a unique opportunity you don't typically have on your channel.
Me watching this like "Yeah I could totally do that, I don't know if I could get down after getting up, but if I had the fitness I could do that... right?" then by the end I was just like "no you absolutely could not do that don't even think about it."
It would be great if you made a video about your decision making in the mountains. Obviously you have had push-back on this topic before and this is why you are always showing clips of digging pits. From my own limited understanding, pits are super localised and don't actually provide a good representation of the line that you are going to ski. It seems like more of a sign that you know that it's sketchy so you are digging a pit to give yourself permission to ride it. I'm sure this is not your full decision making process but that's what comes across in the video.
Feeling so happy to have regular Niko videos back
We all dream we could ski this terrain as easily as Niko
For me just being able to ski it frequently is key
I love the vids showing when skiers turn around, sets a good precedent safety wise and means more Niko videos to come!
Skiing with Bernt was the most humbling experience of the winter! Absolute machine!
I'm completely blown away by Bernt! How is it possible to be such a good skier with one leg?! So fn impressive! 🙌
Thankyou for showing the safety precuations and let downs in a non-condenscending way, it's really useful and refreshing

“I really thought I was gonna play in the children’s area for the rest of my life” - cut to him cruising down that steep couloir, gave me CHILLS! 🌟

Nikolai should have so many more subscribers. Every video he puts out is perfect. My favorite watches on TH-cam.

Hugely inspirational! And big props to the drone pilots for capturing these great shots of skiers flying down steep mountain flanks! 😊
Thank you for reaching beyond skiing with your work. 👍

Nikolai du må faktisk bruke det metriske enhetssystemet. Dette er rett og slett uakseptabelt. Ellers fin video!

Great videos keep them coming Nikolai!!! Very inspiring would love to ride these types of lines one day. This is coming from a snowboarder you make me want to ski!
What a phenomenal video! Thank you for this inspiration.
Wow Niko always such good videos, thank you
Most inspirational film I've ever seen.
WTF did we just see. How can Bernt ski those lines at that speed, composure and symmetry with half a leg missing? My jaw will not leave the floor :D

Such a cool movie, you guys Rock !❤
All the skiing like out of a dream aside, it would be super cool if all of this was filmed in HDR.

Sick views as always

Inspirational !! Turns out I'm just kinda lazy, 2000-3000' runs are fine for me these days :) Sweet jaw pow on that second run !

man I wish I could do this one day. Go out and find a mountain and go snowboarding with my friends.
So inspiring! Thank you for the uplifting story. BTW, is "speed riding" in this context skiing with a parafoil?
Yes :)
bro a ski leg is sick
So good 🔥
Hi Niko. What ski do you bring touring in more bad conditions? Do you ever go Navis Freebird?
Hi, I haven’t skied that much but I’m a big fan of the orb freebird! It skis really well for the size
@ Would you be comfortable taking the Draco freebird as your only ski for a week of touring in terms of versatility?
Me watching this like "Yeah I could totally do that, I don't know if I could get down after getting up, but if I had the fitness I could do that... right?" then by the end I was just like "no you absolutely could not do that don't even think about it."
omg niko videos
Does anyone have an alternative for FATMAP now Strava discontinued it?
So sick
Topside Boyz
It would be great if you made a video about your decision making in the mountains. Obviously you have had push-back on this topic before and this is why you are always showing clips of digging pits.

I'm sure this is not your full decision making process but that's what comes across in the video.
It’s the next one up :)
Brent skis so fucking good wow!!!
Raoe film!
What app are you using now that FatMap is down!?
Never mind, found it in the description 😅
I hope one day I can tell a story as well as Nikolai.
0:52 Feb 9?
0:54 Feb 7?
I need to know or I won’t be able to set the time machine to the right coordinates so I can tell you about the ice!!
Haha! A glitch in the matrix
