One more for the Selmer. But its only because a comparison is offered. If you just played the Vandoren, without hearing the Selmer, no one would complain👍☺️
Pawel I like them both, but i like the character of the Selmer. Vandoren sounded a bit too classical. PS,may i know what soprano you are using? Nice video. From Ont. Canada Mario
Mario M Totally agree about the Vandoren. I play a Yamaha YSS 475 soprano which is a bright sounding horn so I was looking for a dark mouthpiece to compensate. I will propably stick with the Selmer.
Paweł Kamiński Saxophonist / Composer Pawel Thanks for the reply. The 475 Yamaha was my first experience on soprano saxe many years ago,i loved it,it was a very good horn. I ve owned since many soprano saxes, but always kept a great memorie of that 475 one piece saxe. You sound great too on it with the Selmer mpc. All the best Mario
the vandoren sounds more expressive-richer sweeter dryer also-as you stated harder to play but hands down the better sounding-need a comparison between the S25 and the super session g or H which ever is close to the .06 of the vandoren-the sss by selmer is designed with round chamber
I also prefer the Vandoren. It emulates the distinct sound of the Soprano saxophone, the "nasally" yet musical sound which gives the Soprano sax so much distinct character and sets it apart from Alto, Tenor, and Barritone saxes in this respect.
With me, the more the soprano sounds like just an upper extension of the alto, the better. The Vandoren sounded a bit weak to me. To each his own, I guess.

Vandoren has more warm sound, but Selmer is more clear in high register
Dear Pawel, thank you very much for this great video! I like the Selmer S80 F very much...open and great sound! Nice greetings from cologne, René
Thanks for your comment. I do like the Selmer as well. Greetings.
Hi Pawel. Do you give privet lessens on soprano?
Yes I do teach quite a lot but mostly on alto and tenor. My approach to soprano is similar but I rarely play it.
The Vandoren is smoother while the Selmer has more growl. Sometimes you want that smother sound like the Vandoren.
For me the Selmer S80 had more focused and clean sound. Now I play the Yanagisawa 5 which I like a lot surprisingly.
close call here. Selmer F sounds more open and clear whereas the Vandoren sounded kinda stuffy but you sound good on both
Thanks!
Pawel

Nice playing i prefer the Vandoren it added warmth to the sound .
Selmer ❤

My current favourite is a hard rubber Yanagisawa mouthpiece. Easier to keep in tune than Selmer and Vandoren with a nice rich sound.
Selmer slightly edges it in my opinion. Very nice combination!
Thanks! I prefer the Selmer as well.
Vandoren is better for me
