I just happened to be on their page when they dropped some Socoms the other day, so of course I had to snag one. I quick refreshed the page to see if they had sold out and the manual stitch dropped, so I snagged one of those. I quick refreshed the page and they dropped a batch of these MSIs, so I snagged one of those. 😁😁 I hit the trifecta.
I was lucky to score a tan version. I fell for this as soon as I saw it announced at ShotShow. It's a lot larger than I expected, but perfect for me. The construction is truly innovative. The cartridge construction makes it easy to swap out skins in the future. Disassembly and reassembly isn't too bad..they used a ton of locktite.
The pivot is huge running double row ceramic bearings in Teflon? washer. The ID of the washer is 0.330" and 1/16" thick. No compatible Skiffs for this one! The actual pivot is removable and captured on both sides of the cartridge.
I did have to polish the blade on the lock face where the bronze coating was causing a gritty action. Once polished and lubed, it's a silky smooth deployment!
I agree on the tapered screws, but it still goes in my pocket pretty easy. I plan to beat on this knife without reservation. It'll take it!
Oh man , I m excited for this . I was gifted a WE Banter today with the thicker grooved unlocked composites scales and it has tweezers by the pivot ! You wouldn’t even know they are there . I highly recommend unlocked composotes scales for 5th pocket baby banter
I’m definitely looking out for this & manual stitch as well. Hopefully there’s a healthy drop but I doubt it. Not sure how I feel about the weak detent strength.
I got the email from Microtech and went to purchase immediately, and it was sold out! I'll eventually get this knife soon 🤞

I love the MSI so much I'm going to buy a 2nd one. The mirror polished blade and cf scales is a Marfione custom, I think they go for just a bit over 2K. It's ridiculously easy to take apart, already had mine apart to see how everything works and to clean up any grit from the manufacturing process. Although don't tell Microtech as disassembly may or may not void the warranty 🤣

That lock is a perfect blend of the ball lock, axis lock, and shark lock😍

I would love to see an updated version of the Ram-Lok that incorporates a Shark Lock style index finger actuator ramp. IMO that would make it pretty much perfect.
I dig it I dig Alot of knifes it's just the getting them thing seems to be an issue .

It looks amazing and perfect but the Microtechs are on the pricey side but Anthony has a truly amazing Mil/LEO program and it’s a huge discount.
I think they said it's still just M390 but they made a few little tweaks to the formula for Microtech, if I'm wrong someone please feel free to correct me

I see on your HRC spreadsheet the MSI M390 blade tested at 58.7 HRC. That’s not good. Okay it’s one knife out of probably thousands, but still it’s not a good result for Microtech.
