      How's she goin'? I wanted to get the Woodland Mills chipper mainly for the hydraulic infeed and secondly that they were a Canadian supplier. But when I saw the broken bearing I wasn't too impressed. But the Customer Service group were on this like bees to honey!! They picked up the old one and sent out a new one. My only concern was that I was a month later getting at the chipping, but I'll get over that!! LOL It works really well and does a great job chipping, but I think I'm singing to choir here right Mitch!! Thanks for the visit and take care!!

      Good day Gator!! The metal pallet that the chipper was packed on will serve me well. Like you said a nice shop table, plus some angle and square tube from the base!! A big job putting it together. Sorry I'm not up to helping. Chipper looks good and works well. Unfortunately the weather hasn't been very cooperative for chipping but the debris from Fiona will be there for a long time so you'll get some good days to chip.

      How's she goin'? Thank you so much for the prayers for Janet Roger. She has been doing better the last few days and that's nice to see!! You're right about sending the 1st chipper back. I was going to just accept the bearing but then decided against it. Then when it was going to be a delay in getting the new chipper as I had to send the 1st one back and then they would send the new one, I asked them just to send me a bearing so I could get at the job. But they really didn't want to do that as they were concerned that I could have more damage and they wanted to me to have a good safe machine. They truly are a good customer service team!! And I thought I was jealous when you bought a tire changer from Princess Auto... Waaaaaaaah ....This is a really nice rig, Mike! Just one thing,,,I think that the logs go into that skinny little chute on top and the chips come out that big square housing at the back...can you try that for us on camera, please.. This will certainly be handy for all the clean up you have to do...and the chips will make good trail or garden cover. Did you ask for a few free chainsaw files with this? Betcha forgot. Woodland Mills seem like a good company to deal with as your experience reveals. Be careful with that thing!

    • @GrampiesWorkshop
      @GrampiesWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      How's she goin'? Now Craig, I understand you are from the left coast and all, but really, putting the logs in the chute on top won't work. That's where you dump the chips back in if you want to make a new log. I understand though, it must be all the warm weather that's got you thinking crazy like this... Woodland Mills is top of the pot to deal with in my mind. The chipper shipped out pretty quick and then when I had the problem they were all over it like Arber Xhekaj in the corner with Austin Mathews!! I didn't ask for a chain saw file but I did ask for a hat!! LOL Take 'er easy and Merry Christmas to you and Susan!!

    Looks like that shipping frame would make a great table! Sounds like a great company. Hopefully your review of them and their product brings them some business, seems like they deserve it. I've got two small trees in my yard so no need for a chipper, but if anyone asks me about woodchippers, I now know who to recommend. That looks like a beefy machine. It also looks like it will be fairly easy to repair yourself in the future.
    I'd have probably done the same thing with the washers on the inside. I just checked out their website and they're a lot less expensive than I thought they would be. She's a heavy beast though, 550lbs.

    Hey there, Grampie. I considered purchasing a PTO driven chipper for my tractor several years ago but opted to wait. I get so many downed trees which are predominantly loblolly pines. I held off b/c I would simply gather, stack, then allow the trees to just rot over time. I was concerned about chipper storage space and now I have the space but may just rent a chipper when I accumulate a large quantity of limbs to off-set the rental cost. You have a mighty nice chipper there and I know it will serve you well. After your last hurricane, you were probably faced with the same question I seem to get faced with. Do I rent or do I fork out the beans and have my own chipper for occasions when limb felling seems to take over? Recommendation: I'd consider having a nice pair of long-handled loppers to delimb some of those heavily branched limbs for ease of handling when feeding your chipper. Congrats on your early Christmas gift. Say hey to Nannie and wish you and the family a very Merry Christmas. Don 👍🏽🤠 12/14/22

      How's she goin'? Well Don I'd say you must have been in the camp with Nannie and I when we were discussing whether ort not to buy a chipper. LOL I was even thinking of buying an mini excavator to clean up and then when I was done, sell it again to recoup my money!! But we decided to buy the chipper just so I wouldn't have to rush with all the chipping like if I had rented one. Maybe I'll sell this chipper when I'm finished with it, if that time ever comes!! LOL Your idea about the long handled loppers is a good one and I now have a set that I store on the chipper!! Great minds think alike eh!! So nice to read your comments Don. Merry Christmas to you and your wife and all the best in the New Year buddy!!

I didn't do a lot of checking of prices, but this chipper did seem to be a good price compared to the ones I looked at. (Wallenstein and Land Pride) But what really sold me on this chipper was the hydraulic infeed roller. All you need do is start the branch and the roller draws it into the chipper at a good speed so as not to jam the chipper. Oh and their customer service was top of the pot in my opinion. • @regsparkes6507
    @regsparkes6507 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mike, right off the bat, (as they say,) I'm in the market for a chipper like this. It would appear that you are pleased with this purchase from Woodland Mills.
    I have been wanting ( and needing ) a chipper like this for a few years now. I really don't like the idea of burning my pile of boughs and small trees from my property, so this looks like the way to go.
    Do you have any suggestions for me before I call Woodland Mills about one of these WC series chippers?

    • @GrampiesWorkshop
      @GrampiesWorkshop  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there Reg!! When I was looking for chippers I kind of settled on Woodland Mills mainly because of the hydraulic infeed roller. It sure is a game changer. Now some limbs still don't go through, but you can reverse the roller and it pulls the limbs back out of the throat and you don't have to stop the chipper or do any kind of dangerous reaching into the throat to get the stubborn limbs back out. To me that was a very nice feature.
      As for what to be prepared for, well to be honest there isn't much. What you see on their website is what you get. Once you select the product you want, it'll ask for your address and then it calculates the shipping. For me it was $349 delivered right to my door. Then I paid for it online with a Visa card.
      One thing here though you have to be home to receive it as they say their couriers usually have big trucks and don't want to come on your property. Probably for insurance reasons by the carrier. The chipper I got, the WC46, weighed in at almost 600 pounds so I had to use the bucket on the tractor to get the chipper from the delivery truck to my shop. That was kind of sketchy but I made out OK.
      There are some extras you can get when you order the chipper. Like extra blades, or a trailer hitch mount or spare belts for the hydraulic drive. But I opted not to get any of these just yet.
      I ordered my chipper on a Thursday I think it it was and it arrived here at the camp on the following Tuesday. I sure couldn't complain about that. The only trouble was the damaged bearing. But then I have to say, once I contacted the customer service, they were on it till I was satisfied.
      Once I ordered the chipper the next day I had an e:mail from them confirming then order and the shipment. They provided an order number and a shipping number so you could follow the delivery.
      I didn't talk to anyone at Woodland Mills until I had the problem and they called me.
      I think Woodland Mills is a good quality machine and from what I have seen they stand behind their equipment too. I ordered the WC46, which takes a stick up to 4 inches in diameter, because it matched the HP of my tractor. They have WC68 (up to 6 inches diameter) and WC88 (up to 8 inches in diameter) models too. They take bigger diameter sticks and need more HP to operate.
      If there is anything else I can help you with Reg, just ask. I'll do my best to answer the question. Take care!!

      How's she goin'? So far Henry this chipper is doing it's job pretty good. The infeed roller is hydraulic and the speed of it can be adjusted.
