I have had a long arm juki for 10 years I tried using it once. It was a lot of machine and power for short 5’3” gal to handle. I’m ready to try again as soon as she is set up in the house. Thanks for the good quilting information. Hopefully will see one in action.
Thanks so much for this video and all of the others. I'm a big fan of you both! I've inherited my mother's stash of batting and really didnt know there was such a difference - so thank-you! Hope all is well where you are - best wishes from Eastern Ontario (Canada).
This is terrific information even if I end up taking my quilt to a long arm professional for quilting my pieced top. I am working on learning more about quilting on my regular sit down sewing/embroidery machine but the larger sized quilts are tricky so I take them to a long arm. Thank you for all of your details. You always give me so much help.
I just bought a long arm and haven’t had any training only what I’ve seen on TH-cam. The batting choices are the same for domestic as for long arm? Cotton thread vs polyester? I’m also fairly new to quilting, since September 2023, so not a lot of experience. Found a great deal that I couldn’t pass on for the long arm and looking forward to use it correctly so I don’t mess it up. 🤪 thanks.
I am new to long arming and I have been using 2 ply of 80/20 cotton/pol batting with my quilts; however, I don't know if I should only be using 1 ply instead of 2. Does it make a big difference when you wash it? I know it would be more cost-effective if I could use 1 ply, but it looks so thin when I put on the long arm. Thank you in advance- Karen H.
I’ve watched this video for a second time! I have a question about threads. What color thread do you use for piecing? Do you use the same guidance as for quilting? I am currently making a Mickey Mouse quilt for my granddaughter made from 9-patch, with quite contrasting colors. I am using a medium gray thread. What are your thoughts? Thanks so much for all of the great information.
Just do you know, TH-cam manages the ads you see, not the vlogger. I decided to sign up for TH-cam Premium...no ads and I enjoy the viewing experience so much more. BTW, I am not affiliated with TH-cam...just my 2 cents, for whatever that is worth.

Thank you! So much information!
I may have missed it, but what thread do you use the most- cotton or poly? Also, any brand of prewound bobbin you prefer? Thank you for all this info.
I mostly use cotton. I like king tut by Superior. And I like their premiums bobbins the best. It’s a 60wt.

I think that’s just right. Yes, I sew with black, white, banana and gray.
The Fabric Patch, thank you so much.
When you say light-weight thread, what size do you use ie. 50-80-100?
My personal choice is a 50 weight on the top and a 60 weight in my bobbin
Just so you know.
If adds come up for Disney or Netflex, I move on.
When I came back later, an acceptable add came up.
