- Welcome to Jon's RC!
Here is what we used for the video:
Multiplex FunCub
We found this FunCub at our local hobby shop but you can also still by them online at eBay.

We need to see more of the Funcub on your channel!
Ayyy nice find and great flying! Once people fly a park flyer sized bush plane that's actually designed around being light, they never go back. Glad to see you've joined that club! By the way, wing cube loading is a great way to compare airplanes as opposed to just wing loading which can be not as accurate between varying sized models and wing areas - take a peek at it online if you can. You can also get the weight of the FunCub down about 5 oz by changing out the motor and esc to an E-Flite Park 480 1020KV on a 12x6 prop. Be sure to slide that battery all the way back! You're a great stick, you really should give bush flying a shot, we'd love to see you try it! 😁📦✈ -Zach
P.S...you'll probably enjoy our video coming out today. 😀
Thank you!! The FunCub is so light compared to my other models I was honestly astonished. I actually broke my stock prop not too long ago because of a landing without the landing gear LOL so we have a 12x6 on the way. I have a Park 480 motor attached to an ARF that I haven’t flown in well over a year, and I’ve considered replacing the ROXXY motor with that. To be quite frank i’m not sure how to access the motor though because it’s pretty enclosed in the front. My battery is ALLLL the way back now (it slides around in the back of the fuselage sometimes) and I’m really happy with it that way. My friends are designing bush planes that we can take out sometime, but I’m gonna need to learn a lot before I take it to remote places.
I will definitely watch your video! I’ve watched all of yours probably more than 3 times haha keep up the great work.
I have the same plane love it as well. I have never crashed it in 10 years still love taking it to the beach on calm days 👍
Love the less boom boom shh boom boom shh intro. That intro was so grating tbh.
And looks like Jon's ready for a haircut!😂
Fun cub, happy days. Never flown it but I've seen them come up for sale. People in my area asking silly prices for them though.
Thank you.
🇬🇧
I've been away from R/C planes for about 10 years but plan to restart soon.
I'm sorry that the Fun Cub has been discontinued but I saw a review on its replacement, and it looked pretty good.
On my Fun Cub I installed wing struts to make it look more realistic. It made the roll rate much faster and smoother.
I enjoyed your video. Thank you.
HELLO, i have bought a second hand one, and i have a Futaba 6exa that has only one ch for flaps, Do you know what can i do ? THANKS.
Amazing flight and pilot!
Thank you!
WOW!!! What a flight! It was floating like a freaking helicopter! I've seen FunCubs fly before but I didn't know they could fly that slow!! That was nice Jon!!!
Thank you!
Cool plane that we will never find, but you did. Kinda like the evolution but half the weight
Great find, so happy for you Jon. I see this plane in the HiTEC add in Model Aviation all the time. It's such a tease because this plane has not been available in years- wish someone would bring it back.
Thanks! Apparently its been in our local hobby shop for years and nobody paid any attention to it till I found it!
Great video! Keep up the hard work.
Would you consider this one of your favorite planes so far? Maybe someday you could make a video and go through some of your favorites(if you feel like it). You have good taste and it helps me decide what to try next.
That sounds like an awesome idea! I will see if I can create a top 5 favorite planes to fly! For each one, I will do a snippet of flight video. Also, yes, the FunCub is definitely my favorite general plane to fly. I take her with me every time we go to the field! Thanks!
Thanks! I’ll be watching for it
I'm waiting for mine now my friend found it on line bought it and his wife said it had to go so I will get it
excellent!
Thank you!
Nice!
Great video. Just out of curiosity what did they charge you for the airframe at The hobby shop? Maybe it was sold bind and fly?
Thanks! It was expensive but cheaper than eBay! We got it for $300 plus tax and this is because the hobby shop owner knows my channel and gave us a discount! And yes! It was a bind and fly! All electronics preinstalled and we just had to add the receiver and change the head on the ESC!
Fantastic fly video.I have a second hand one, with a 40a bec,12x 3.8sf, apc and a motor big, it is all size that just grub the foam.i dont know the tecnical dates. What is your CG and travels control surfaces? Do you use any mezclas? Thanks.
Hi! I’m running an aft cg on mine, the battery is very far back.. I fly it tailheavy so it does aggressive maneuvers a lot easier. I have 150% travel on all servos except for the flaps, and mechanically I have my pushrods on the hole that gives me the most deflection. No mezclas is being used here:)
THANKS.for your help.
Man I miss my OG funcub.. All I found was the new versions upwards of $800!! Where can I find this one?
I have an original for sale, still in the box...no electronics.
Hi Jon! What an Just last week after I lost my Turbo Timber on an electrical pole (she is again home and working) a club coleage recommended me the Funcub and I couldn´t resist and bought one. Nice to know that you lived here in Germany! Would be nice to know what your parents or what your father was doing and were you lived.
I bought the new Model (nex generation) as an ARF and some powerful electronics from Aliexpress (80A esc and 3548 Surpass 1100kV I think :P ). The only think I don´t like too much are the wheels and landing gear. I hope I have fun and don´t destroy her. I´m just learning since my first flight was on january. I love your channel! :)
Thank you! I was also considering the Next Gen FunCub. Good luck on your build and your maiden. Also, unfortunately, I have never been in or lived in Germany. I live in Southern California!
@@JonsRC OK! I misunderstood you then..
Jon what hobby shop do you and your dad shop at I don’t live that far from Whittier narrows but I do like Pegasus hobbies and ultimate for airplanes?
Is the habu 50 mn beter or 70 for biginners
For beginners, the 70mm is always better! The bigger the plane, the bigger the wing, the more stable it flies!
Very nice Jon.
In your opinion what model can you easily get today that comes the closest to this Fun Cub?
The closest thing to the FunCub that I own would be the 1.5m Turbo Timber Evolution, but even that does not really compare. The FunCub has a weight of ~40oz, whereas the TTE has a weight of ~70oz. They also have different flying styles. Because the TTE runs on 4S instead of 3S, it cannot fly as slow or else it will aggressively stall. This leads to the Timber flying much faster than the FunCub. But, it is the closest thing I can compare it to.
@@JonsRC Then they need to bring back the Fun Club. 👍
@@BillKisel There's the fun cub NG, which is hella expensive but even better. Tail Heavy Productions made a video about it called "One Funcub is worth Two Timbers"
FMS 1300mm PA-18 excellent plane
@@jh5047-z7t Thanks. The 1300 mm PA-18 is what I got. Was delivered about two weeks ago but is still sitting in its box.
What do you think about the funcub ng? I didn’t see anything about it on tailheavy productions. I’m wondering if it would be better than the original.
On paper, the FunCub NG is not exactly the same. The original FunCub has a wing loading of 9.8 oz per square foot, and the FunCub NG has a wing loading of 11.3 oz per square foot. The FunCub NG is also 8 oz heavier. Although the quality of the NG looks better than the original, it can’t beat the original.
@@JonsRC it would be cool if you got the NG. It is not far from the OG. OG just flies a tiny bit slower but the durability makes up for it in my opinion.
It can flight in reverse speed in front of win
No rubber tires cool.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've had a PNP FunCub for over 10 years waiting for me to "Find the Time". I noticed that you had a toroidal coil around the servo leads. Was this your idea? Where did you get it. I've been away for the hobby way too long!
That coil came installed in the plane! The FunCub is an awesome plane and so much fun to fly!
Motor?
Do u want a multiplex blizzard? Kit with servos :D (san diego ca)
Thank you but I will pass on that one!
What is the best biginner edf
The best beginner EDF jets are the 70mm Habu or the 70mm Viper! I personally prefer the Viper if you already have some 4-channel flying experience. The Viper is more fun and maneuverable. But, the Habu was made for the beginning pilot who wants to get into EDF flying!
Tanks omg
Love your vids btw
