- In this video in the Odyssey series we tackle Segment farming and how to get the most out of it. This video is quite long but I tried to cover as many aspects of this as I could so that no matter what kind of player you were you had a strategy here that could work for you. Please note I made an error in the video and link Max Reduction for Izzat and opening chest to MM Level. It is actually directly tied to how many chest/coffers/aurum you have opened. Once you have opened 50 of each in that particular Sheol, the max reduction will be achieved. So it's easy for the group to reach the max reduction of 5 to open chest as that's what you will be opening but quite time intensive to open an aurum for it's Max reduction as that means the opener would have had to open 50 Aurum's in that Sheol. Due to this I think the vast majority of groups will simply spam opening chest for the best Izzat - Segment ratio.

Awesome breakdown, I think I had been gimping myself by trying to do too many different objectives at once rather than just focus on mobs/chests, soloing primarily for MM levels and segments. Think I will save the agon farming for my pet jobs for sure.

I personally love entomb in Odyssey as substitute of sleep. You can easily entomb links and advantage over sleep is that you dont need to wait till effect wears off to reapply it and it might be really bad to have like 10 mobs awake and run at you at once.
In place of GEO, we use SMN to great effect. Stunga, crystal blessing, hastega 2, thunderspark (for paralyze), and avatars favor are the highlights, but lunatic voice (aoe silence), todal roar (ape attack down), back up cures, soothing current, and physical bps all see use too.
Very interesting suggestions, I see a lot of potential here. Will be trying this myself for sure.

Sidenote, you can get enmity on invisible Agon mobs, Banishga/Poisonga will hit them if you have a Nosto mob/The Agon Fetter to cast on with Agon mobs inrange of the Spell. Can then follow up with a self-used Enm tool.

Here's a random question: How useful is blm in odyssey?
I sadly have yet to try a BLM in there. I'm not sure how well it would work due to the fast paced nature of the event but I see so few people take advantage of that job these days that I quite possibly could be surprised by what a good played could achieve with it.

MM level is not directly connected to discount on chests. Discount on chests is based completely on total amount of chests you opened.
Max discount is after opening 50 chests/coffer/Aurum (50 chests to get max discount for chests, 50 coffers to get max discount for coffers, 50 Aurum to get max discount on Aurum)
You will gain some mm levels for Opening chests/Aurum, but MM levels doesnt count for discount.
You can have MM35 and have 0 discount on any type of chest in any zone. You can have MM5 and have max discount on chests/coffers/Aurum in path A, B or C.
Oh! Right... I think I you had actually taught me this back in Sheol A days and I must have forgotten in that length of time. OK then by that rationale, I'll never get to it being "worth it" to pop a coffer or an Aurum for Segments as that would force me to spend a ton of time opening 20-30 more coffers (for max reduction) and 48 more aurum (for max reduction). So really the vast majority of people who haven't done tons of aurum chest farming will also be in this position and need to open just check for maximum segments. Likewise, everyone in your "static" should cap on that 5 per chest rather quickly as that is what your group is opening every run. Thanks for clarifying this, will make a note in the top comment.

Eh, kinda 50/50. Sometimes it just works out that we finish 2 and we choose to just run up to the exit and kill mobs there with the last min or two. That being said more segments could be farmed in that time so really just up to you and your group on if you want those extra segments or some gil.

what kind of gear would you suggest to use to start with? will someone in Ambu +1/+2 no JSE gearwould be able to do this? REMA only?
Ambuscade Gear with Ambuscade Weapon is enough to start with but you of course won't be farming as many segments per run as someone that is fully geared. However, this will be a great way for you to get a ton of Capacity Points and expereince on the job so it works out well. Start with Sheol A and work your way up to B and then C as you get more comfortable and better gear.

it stands for Moogle mastery and is a bonus that is given to your trust as you progress through Odyssey. Each of the Sheol's has the possibility of getting you a max of MM level 15, so with all three your max possible is MM 45. This bonus gives your trust more -dt and base stats. How do we get ffxi back on consoles (ps4,xbox,switch)? Can we get a ffxi classic server and have our ff11 and ff14 accounts combined? I want ff11 to be around for year more!
I love your contents but there's something i can't understand and that is impossible in my opinion: killing 3 groups of mobs in sheol B floor 1 + floor 2 is technically impossible solo.
How could you kill 60 mobs in 30 minutes (it means 1 every 30 seconds) when in odyssey you also have to run around. It's hard even if they rain on top of you...imagine running around, killing them and opening chests too.
First off I wouldn't recommend farming in Sheol B, C is far more effective. And yes killing a mob every 20 seconds or so in sheol C solo is what you should expect if your on Ninja. I normally kill roughly 70 mobs per run now in sheol c and get to the exit. Most mobs only take a single skillchain to kill once you upgrade your nyame gear. Before that you need to two step skillchain and MB to kill each but still you should average about 20 seconds per mob, giving you the extra time needed for the running around time to get to the top. The key is knowing which mobs to attack and which to not attack. You want to avoid any that are strong to magic or slashing damage.
