My dad had a 5 when I was a kid. Neighbor still has it and it runs. We used to haul it on a 1951 Chevy flatbed grain truck, after he got a truck. Before that, they drove from farmer to farmer doing conservation work. Did that 2 years. Got about 30 miles from home and started working back towards home. It was a 1950’s model. Thanks for the-memories . I drove it in a creek and got it stuck when I was 6. 60 years ago!
Great video Scott. Good to hear you and your family are walking / exercising on your own terrain. These build and improvement videos are as interesting to me as the “bus grease” videos (which I also like a lot). Thanks for the upload 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Sweet little dozer there. I Wish you had a 6 way blade on that. You can buy aftermarket kits for one that size under 4K. Once I got one i realized how important and easier it makes any job from stump removal, grading, and any and all earthwork.
Nice 👍. It's addicting (in a good way 😆) I'm constantly building new trails on our Farm... take the dogs out walking every morning .....great way to start the day.
Scott you might want to get in contact with either/both Sam at Scrappy Industry’s and/or Matt at Diesel Creek regarding your Dozer. I believe Matt might of just recently purchased a parts dozer of similar make/model additionally for grins smiles giggles and laughs I think it was Matt’s most recent auction video there was a beautifully restored similar make model loader at a Richie Bro auction that I think has been run. I would be you might be able to horse trade some work on Detroit’s for similar on your dozer or possibly parts. I say this because if you really wish to keep this machine running for any length of time into the future you are going to need to source a “complete undercarriage” (chains, gears, idlers, tracks) and I would pay attention to the track tensioners for wear etc because from what I can see the tracks have been adjusted tighter than they should be to try and compensate for the worn undercarriage. Don’t get me wrong I am not ragging on your machine I am making mention of something you may or may not be aware of and just giving a hey buddy incase you didn’t know so can plan for the future.
Do you still use the quarry? I see that there's another quarry across the main road from you, is that still open? Maybe you need a Terex with a Detroit as well. The key to road making is clearing the material off to the side and draining it where you want.
Good excuse to play Bulldozer Operator. Very interesting. Or maybe just big time leaf remover? Or fire trails? I wish I could be there and play as well.
Glad to hear you are out getting some exercise but if im being honest the weight loss comes far more dramatically with intermittent fasting and diet than walking. Not to say it isnt good for your cardio system to be out walking but a heavy duty mechanic like yourself will most likely burn far more calories in a hard days work than you ever would going for a walk. keep it up !! I only say it from experience i lost 130 lbs in 4 months changing my diet and fasting and feel so much better now

I don't think a HD5 ever came from the factory anything other than orange. And the AC decal is way too new for that age tractor. Enjoy!
The triangle A-C logo came much later. My 57 D-17 still carry’s the diamond gear logo. I don’t believe the triangle logo was introduced until the sixties.
You have a bunch of small ones too!!! That whole understory looks loaded with them. There the smaller trees in the forest that are retaining all those brown leaves, that's a trait of young beech trees. In case your wondering I'm a Forester, so I know my trees pretty well. 😂@@BusGreaseMonkey
A friend of mine wants me to help him build a runway his property for his airplane. I said sure, what do you need me to do? He said run a bulldozer…😃😃 I told him count me in and when do I start? Looks like fun to me
Lots of highway noise there! Much more than I expected from the google earth views I have looked at. Maybe your property holdings are much larger than I guesstimated. I thought you were far enough away from the main highway that road noise would be much less of a factor in your country peacefulness. (I an NOT a fan of the constant drone of highway noise. I find it very annoying. Especially vehicles with very noisy exhausts. It’s like listening to someone’s very loud cheesy stereo that has so much base, all you hear is the sheet metal and fittings on their car rattling away like rusty bolts in a coffee can being blown through a kazoo.)
Only that tip of the property has that noise. I can’t hear it by the shop. Also that was a busy time. That road has little to no traffic after 7pm and by 10pm it’s a ghost town.
They do really well for this little dozer plus they don’t tear everything up as much. It rained 35 hrs almost continuously until a few hours before i did this job.

Beautiful country, you have a nice piece of property! Nice trail, thank you!
I dunno Scott, I fear it will be full of buses before too long. LOL
Hey, You shut your mouth ;) lol i hope not.
Definitely he's got a bus problem.
@@seancasey2444for the record 5 of those buses pay $100 a month each for storage.
Great work. Happy to have you come to australia and fix up my driveway😂
That was fun. It'll be really a great trail in the spring....
We walked it tonight and it was very nice. It’s not done yet but still very nice to walk.
You have an amazing amount of road noise there. The wife definitely got that one right.
In the summer with the trees all full it’s not really noisy but 1/2 of the year it is like you heard today.
My hands went over my ears
Right 😆 sirens and dogs howling in that intro sequence, not how I expected it to be out on their property but I'm sure that's not always the case

That would be very nice on the hilly land
@@BusGreaseMonkeycan you put the blade in float when you backup?
Awesome ! Love the old equipment in action , great job running it I'm sure it's a workout 💪
Good to see you guys !!!😊
Awesome video thanks for sharing your videos always improving your land 😊
That dozer really has worked out well. Good purchase.
Nice 👍. It's addicting (in a good way 😆) I'm constantly building new trails on our Farm... take the dogs out walking every morning .....great way to start the day.
Saving trees and making trail thanks for sharing
Lovely summer walk when trees are in leaf.
Amazing how the serenity is destroyed by the road noise.
I am glad the whole property doesn’t sound like that.
Yes a cool wee dozer for sure bro. Ken
Excellent r,axing video Scott. Good luck my man!
That is so cool, my grandad had an old 60 cat that ran on propane.
Good stuff.
Great idea to expand the trails.
Beautiful country!
Scott. you're turning into Mike Morgan... 😎
Sweet piece of land

We use ours for personal use only but the one across the street they sell several loads a day.
I think you got a deal on that old girl. Purrs like a kitten.
I love it.

Looks great Scott ..a lot of ground to cover …
Shows what a relatively small engine and low gearing can achieve.
Every kids dream to play with full size tractors when they "grow up"!
Nice trail on the BGM!
I like how it doesn't usually start first try. It WILL start the second try.
40° f is a bit chilly
After watching the video I felt like I had been playing a bulldozer simulator video game for half an hour. Is it just me?
I can still hear it
'Twill be an even more beautiful walk in summer. Noice.
A hiking trail or a new road to park more buses, don't tell the wife. 🤣
We walked it together tonight just under 1/2 mile loop. Nice elevation changes too that are very noticeable on foot but not so much on the dozer.
Good job
Bulldozer ASMR: just the video to play while fixing breakfast 😁👍
"Wife" what are you watching ? One of the most exciting and satisfying things Ever "A Bulldozer "😊
Blazing trails in Tennessee on many levels! Bus Grease Mountain rules!
How feasible would it be to put a spring on that shutoff to prevent unintentional shut downs?
Yes that’s the plan. IM sure one is missing.
If you had an ole pot belly'd wood stove in your shop you have enough downed to burn for two winters 😊😊
Lucky for me the solar powered heat is free and no work

I don't know.
Proof that you don’t need 1k hp
There has to be a closed cabine for this dozer somewhere. So the unit will be better protected.
Can we say no problem 😊
Is the blade capable of tilting so you could dig in to the hillside if needed?
Yep that tree you showed the roots of with the sirens in background was an American Beech.
I have a bunch of very large ones
There in the Oak Family.

One is for sale. Mc8
Search a cute little cool dozier!
That's where the saying came from (let's do this thing)😊
id throw a turbo on that 2 cylinder.
them leaves have never been raked lol
Definitely not ever.
Put that VW THING on the trail.
Plant grass and mow the trail much better.
Have you seen any copperhead snakes out there? It looks like a good place to see them.
Mostly black racers that i see but the nasty ones are here too but i have not seen them.
That tractor doesn't know it's small and old.
If you backblade the whole trail you will have no track ruts
