Hearing your story is like struggles my family went thru too in the ghetto. Got to do what you need to protect your family. Hate kaydos stealing stuff and beating up old Asian people for their gold necklaces back when I was growing up. You are the brother any sibling would have wanted.
Wish to have more brother like this out there.
I’m not going to lie, I grew up in the late 80’s/early 90’s where kaydo people were not nice and friendly. Lived and grew up in the ghetto. It has put a bad taste in my mouth about kaydo people my whole life. I’ve met great kaydo people as I’ve gotten older but will always remember how many bad ones there are out there. When things happen to the bad kaydos, I’m like good they deserve it.
I agree with you kaydoos were so mean! My grandmother used to have to carry a broom to fight them off of us. They would always aim for our hair. We couldn't play or walk anywhere, even in my grandparents yard theyd try to run in or throw stuff at us. And the cops did not help! It came down to us filming them, and the cops at that time was like if i dont see it in real time, we cant do anything about it. It was miserable in the early 90s.
Kaydoos are majority still the same. There is just less Hmong ppls living in the projects, therefore we see less of our ppls being mistreated by kaydoos.
I also know many keydo people and mostly bad. I don’t have many good experiences with keydo people at all.

I hate parents who keeps forcing their daughters to go back to an abusive and loveless marriage.. some even died as a result

Wish I had a brother like you when I was going through tough times.
This story gave me the chills, but a good chills feeling because you were so brave! You stood up for yourself and your family when those ghetto kids thought they ruled the streets and you had your sisters' back when her husband waa abusing her. Even though you had to serve time, you only did what you did to protect your family. In the end, you found a job and had a better life. God bless you and your family!

I grew up the in the 90's in West St Paul at those Congress section 8 apartment/homes. My dad bought me a girly bike that I really liked... and a few days later, it was stolen! A few days later, a boy stoled it and painted it white! How do I know? Because I know the shape of my bike! But I couldn't do anything cause I was so little. So if you are that boy (with a split hair!) ... and u are reading this message. I know you stole my bike, bruh!!!!! 🥴 lol.

I’m proud of u brother. Growing up, u didn’t want to see ur parents go through wat they went through by those kaydoos & u did wat thought was right. But u got in trouble for it instead. Good for you brother. I never have your luck. Always have been a good kid never been in trouble with the law. But never been chosen to be the one they love so to this day 50 yrs. old and still waiting to hear the word "me tub" from my parents. Guess will never for the rest of my life but will never let my kids walk my path.

Bro, you are not bad! You did what you think what was right. I would have done the same thing in some cases too, except I would have called the cops in some instead of fighting. You were not bad. Glad that you have a good life and your parents turn around to love and trust in you again. It is sad and heartbroken that they only did that to you when the time they needing someone to take care of them almost toward the end of their life.

I can see my dad the same, towards end of this story. He dont show his tears. Only one time when he go blow qeej and he wanted to go blow qeej for one of our aunt's funeral. She aged already, never married, no kids because she just talk with hands(hmong people would call them ruam). My dad teared when he blew the qeej sending away part.
You just a strong will person who stood up for righteousness. Also, demand respect from people who has done wrong.

The thing about most of these “bad” kids is that they have the motivation, but no direction. They have the skill sets, even, and no plan. A great warrior who wins the war, they’re fierce and strong as a monster - scary, but they have discipline and that’s direction. That’s what makes the difference.
