ALDI actually recently published an article about how drastically the supply chain issues are affecting their stores. The lack of bread and other products is simply because they can’t provide them. Our other stores here in Georgia that I shop at, in addition to Aldi, which are Kroger & Walmart are SO short of lots of groceries! Many of the shelves are bare. It’s kind of scary, I think. I mean, have you ever stopped to think what would happen if there were no groceries deliveries for a month? We’d all have to get creative, for sure! As always, Jennifer, I love your videos and thank you for sharing.

That's what was so striking to me back in March of 2020 when the shelves were bare. It doesn't take that much of a blip to create massive problems! Good to be prepared, for sure!

I live in southern Ontario Canada and the cost of groceries is way higher here. Two person household budget is 350-500/month (we have two cats, some months you gotta get cleaning supplies etc., cannot justify the cost of red meat!).

It is unfortunate that people feel the need to comment on "fairness" between kids. I intentionally send things separately to my grandkids, spread over a couple of weeks because it teaches them that just because one gets mail doesn't mean they all get mail. I love seeing your grocery hauls, here in Southern Alberta butter is $4.49, eggs $2.89, an orange 89 cents, apples $4.97 for 3 lbs., and chicken is $23 for 7 boneless skinless chicken breasts. I love it when I see people get deals.

I know you never leave Joe out, he is at a age were it’s hard to find the correct fit, what a loving boy, always hugging you, and saying hi to everyone. Sweetness is written all over his face.👍❤️

I went to a regional grocery store today. I decided to treat myself and splurge on a couple of pears. I knew the price per pound but I guess I was over confident in choosing 2 small/medium pieces. I ended up paying over $2. That really surprised me! Usually in the winter I buy big bags of citrus but this year I haven't been because they are more than I paid last year. Prices seem to be higher and higher each time I go in a store!

I really like your approach to the menu plan with the food base along the top and then filling in the different beef, chicken etc meal for each week. I may give that a try. Honestly, I don’t enjoy cooking and haven’t been very inspired to create a menu plan. This might be perfect! Thank you for sharing with us.

I live in GA and need to go to my local Aldi's soon as well. I want to compare prices where I live to where you live. I find it fascinating how some products are cheaper or more expensive in different regions of the country. Our shelves have been hit and miss and sometimes bare as well down South. Depends where you shop and what you're willing to pay for things. I need almond milk really bad, and typically Aldi's is the best price for that. Lactose free milk is also a good buy there. Unfortunately, we are a lactose intolerant family, but can have some dairy in small amounts. I loved your haul and considering how expensive it's getting out there, you did really great to buy a month's worth of food for 6 people under $400! Wow!

@@acountrylife I went to Aldi's today. I have a family of 5 at the moment. All adults. I spent $116.80 there and another $42.30 at Walmart for the things I couldn't find or buy at Aldi's. I only really needed fill-in things and produce this month. So that's why my cost is way lower. A few things: Almond milk is $1.79 per half gallon, Orange juice $2.15 per half gallon, 1/2 a pork loin was $5.54, a big flat of chicken drumsticks was $5.50, potatoes have gone up at $3.79 for 5lb bag. All the fresh fruit and veggies were priced pretty nicely. Bread has gone way up, so I didn't buy any this time. I'll make my own.

Yes I keep a lot of canned beans and tomatoes on hand as well. And I always have already browned up ground turkey in the freezer. I can throw together a pot of chili in ten minutes flat. I use a very simple recipe and it's my husband's favorite thing to eat. We have chili once a week. By the way, I got a kick out of watching Peter and Maria pick on each other in the back seat. And Joe quietly "shushing" them. Joe is so absolutely adorable!

Our butter at Aldi was $2.73 this week but I stock up when it's cheap around Thanksgiving. The Certified Humane Eggs were $2.79 and soups were still $.50. I'm not sure why prices in some areas are going up and not in others, but food in the US has always been so much cheaper than for my family/friends in Japan and NZ that I don't complain.

I'm in Canada and we are not seeing big shortages like this, at least where I live, I do find some holes on the shelves but I can get most things or a decent substition. The "trucker" convoy is not causing shortages but is causing major issues for the residents who have to put up with the harassment, dirty behaviours, damage and noise the convoy brought with them. I support truckers but most are still working to get products into the stores and are not part of the Convoy and do not support it. I hope they don't come your way but chances are some will because they are trying to break it up.

I live in Ottawa that is actually not true. The convoy isn't causing problems at all. And they are not harassing the neighbors. I live in the area. It's locals that are actually doing harassing lol. And they aren't blowing the horns anymore. They are feeding everyone not just truckers. They been even feeding homeless people don't believe everything you see in media. Most is false info. I'm down there daily. I've been harassed more by people who are against the truckers. And we just show them love. Ottawa done everything to cause the convoy to get mad and they don't they actually cleaned city up. Ottawa is very dirty city and no garbage anywhere the convoy is. The police tried taking fuel away they didn't fight the police on it. Gave it to them. Next day police had to return it. They aren't leaving no matter what tricks the government tries.

I'm finding I am not buying many of our favorite certain things anymore because the prices increased, even if it's just an extra 15 or 50 cents. They just aren't tripping my "that's my buy price" trigger that I have gotten used to. Most times, it will be like snacks and goodies. I guess we don't technically NEED those items anyway. I'm hard swallowing when I have to buy a 12 pack of eggs at $1.47, though. Not going to break my bank, but it's still a bummer to buy 10 dozen and have to pay an extra $4.70.

Today I did an aldi pickup order and several items were out and I ran into Trader Joes and they were also missing quite a bit of the staples I like.
Our aldi has chicken thighs 69 cents lb. Feb 9 - 10 so i am running back over tomorrow to grab those.

Great grocery haul I wanted to start a price book but it seems that prices are changing weekly not sure if it's going to work. I also call my 15 and 14 year old are my little kids they always tell me mom we aren't little anymore in mama's eyes they will always be little. I have been planning my meals by choosing a weekly protein and working my menu plan around that meat so last week was ground beef so we had sloppy Joe's, spaghetti, tacos, hamburgers and leftovers as fill in. This week we are working off chicken we have pulled chicken sandwiches, fried chicken, chicken taquitos homemade, chicken fried rice, chicken and rice casserole and our just in case meal is chicken noodle soup. Next week's meals are going to be easy meals hot dogs, French bread pizza, spaghetti, tacos and valentines day we eat out.

Put green bananas in a bag plastic or paper with an apple or ripe banana or 2 ripe bananas or 2 ripe apples then close bag loosely to help trap in ethelyn gas. This will help ripen the bananas! May take a few days or so as green as they are. You can google the instructions if not clear.

  • @jennjeffs4893
    @jennjeffs4893 2 ปีที่แล้ว

If you want to ripen your Bananas. Put them in a paper bag with other ripe fruits 😀
If you don't have other ripe fruits you can still place them in a paper bag to ripen. It just takes a little longer. Hope that helps!

Hi Jennifer, have you ever made what we in my family call “Bugles”? You melt vanilla almond bark in the microwave in 15-30 second intervals, mix in a can of mixed nuts and bugles. Drop on wax paper until set up. Yummy salty & sweet treat, and it makes a large quantity.

We’re definitely a need based family. Of coarse we get everyone a treat or something but not the same essentials.

I live in Midwest, just outside Chicago (in corn farming land) and omg…. What I would not cherish is that family… this week $1.89 but not received at my store…. Haha even worse is my additional, ordered freezer chest is still on a slow boat from China? My parents are now 80 and 79/80 in 5 months….. this pandemic has taken a faster toll on all of us, but they are now failing faster and rapidly with seclusion and isolation….. on top of their health issues! their deep freezer went out, and I has been bringing meals to freeze and reheat….. lol they keep many breakfast items and treats in the fridge freezer, so it kinds messed both households up! Lol bring on cranberries….. we love treats, and I’ve now told dad….. he must make his baked treats ( keep him out of recliner and maybe eating fewer sweets? ) so, I’m helping him cook fresh meals and bake his treats….. oatmeal cookies with cranberries, white chocolate chip cookies with cranberries, cranberry bunt cake….. we are ❤️🙏🏼✌🏼 cranberries…. my husband, loves dried cranberries in his yogurt and fresh in muffins…. Me, love dried ones in my oatmeal! Love, prayers to your family and followers.

I started the budget planning. This coming from a women who usually spends about 1500 month on groceries and paper products! And its basically only 3 of us. I have to go to Walmart tomorrow for printer ink and it is going to take every bit of will power I have not to go into the grocery Isle! Also how do you motivate your children for homeschooling. I am homeschooling our 11 yr old for the last 2 yrs and it is a fight every day. He even does Kumon online, and trying to get him to do homework is a fight.

Whenever we get to that point, I pull the plug on all electronics (tv, tablet, whatever they use for fun) and give them a time their schoolwork has to be done by. Then they can earn back electronic time (for my kids it's TV because that's all they have). Each day of completed work on time gets them 1 hour. It's not easy to keep up with the policing, but it has to happen to let them know you get the final say in their education.
