I love it that he is in a full suit and in the background you have the houses of Parliament. It adds a lot to the speech I think.

I was trying to decide which I enjoyed most -- the soliloquy or the scenery. I guess it doesn't matter.

“What infinite hearts ease must kings neglect that private men enjoy” love it. What delivery.

This is the best rendition I've seen of this - one of the most important scenes of the play in which Henry tries to resolve the king he wants to be versus the king he's expected to be. So many people recite Shakespeare in a nice voice and think they're doing it justice but here, Samual clearly understands every word and puts it over so well - sharing the gift of Shakespeare. Well done!

That actor got to the heart of that soliloquy... very well said.

This is my favourite soliloquy ever. Hal was not raised to be a king, he spent his youth in idleness and debauchery, and here the call back is that he longs to be among those wastrels. Royalty is no honour, for the cares of all are the cares of one. (Aside: I prefer Branagh's version but this was feckin brill.)

This a fine rendition, I'm a big fan of Branagh's version, but this has none of the distraction of scenery...this version brings the listener's attention to the words of speech...just an outstanding rendition.

Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' Vanity asks the question, 'Is it popular?' But, conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because one's conscience tells one that it is right. - Martin Luther King, Jr.
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”

+Lytton333 His dad is and was one of the last, greatest actor-managers. Tim used to come to Dublin, every year, and play Lear effortlessly, but with an absolute commitment, to matinees of greasy, itchy schoolboys. I was one of those boys, and I've never forgotten it. Sam is cut from the same cloth: his Hal had all the high, steely confidence (mock, mock, mock high castles down) of a public king. But his private warmth glows though. Always.

Agreed. Branagh was the best at some point. But times change, performances evolve, and we must accept that. Just as Brando's Marc Antony is no longer the best, Branagh's Henry has been upstaged!
Still, love and respect for Branagh all around. But this...oh this.
