Way too much filler. It could have been a great single album. Did we really need two versions of "Isn't it a Pity?" Or that half-baked third disk of jamming?

One of George Harrison's quotes when asked about the names of the Lord & God he used in his lyrics of this song, was “It does not matter what you call Him, just call Him” That quote helped me ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ Another Quote, Spirituality does not come from one specific religion, it comes from the search within ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

George is known to have pondered the meaning of life by saying....."I remember thinking I just want more. This isn't it. Fame is not the goal. Money is not the goal. To be able to know how to get peace of mind, how to be happy, is something you don't just stumble across. You've got to search for it."

There was a lot of speculation that Yoko Ono was responsible for the breakup of The Beatles. However they have said that the reason that they broke up was because they were growing apart as artists, and as people. as each of them was married, some of them with children, at the time that they broke up. They needed to break up when they , before they hated each other forever. My favorite George Harrison song is Within You Without You. It is off of the Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album. George Harrison learned to play the sitar, on their infamous trip to India. He infiltrated it into a few of their songs after that. But I love that one best. Lyrics are amazing on that song.

  • @gracemichelli.2am124

A lot of things contributed to the breakup. The death of Brian Epstein. A new manager. Yoko Ono's constant presence and John Lennon's drug use. Creative differences also was said to play a major role. I was very saddened by their break up but all went on to create their own legacy.❤️

George was the quiet Beatle. Throughout my life I’ve loved and revered the Beatles collectively and individually. I was born in fall of ‘65 and remember new songs of the Beatles on the radio hearing for the first time! Ringo is the reason I play drums to this day. Paul always had my interest and teamed with John was unstoppable. But George I didn’t understand when I was a kid. In my late twenties is when I began to understand George and his writing. Since then George has remained my favorite Beatle though I truly love them all and wish Ringo and Paul continuing healthy lives. I saw Paul last spring for the Got Back tour. Last summer turned 80 and he played with no breaks FOR THREE BLOODY HOURS…NON STOP!!! Ringo with his All Starr Band does the same! Respect! Peace and Love!

George was very spiritual. This song is an anthem to Hare Krishna. My Sweet Lord is from George's first album post Beatles, called All Things Must Pass. This DOUBLE album is a masterpiece. It explores George's spirituality where there was no room to do so within the Beatles. George's second solo album, Living in the Material World is almost as good and it explores his spirituality even more.

I used to play the title song each morning for awhile after my mother died.
I love an obscure song of George’s called MISS O’DELL. He flubs a line and gets overcome with the giggles. He wrote it for a close friend. He kept waiting for her to come visit him while he was in town but she kept putting him off, and when she did come see him he told her he’d written it when suffering from boredom.

This was George's first single after the Beatles broke up. Huge #1 hit. There's another song on this album worth hearing called "What Is Life" that was released as the follow-up single. You might also want to check out George's song "Give Me Love, Give Me Peace On Earth." I think it was on that same album, if memory serves. By the way, if you want to hear a pure fire rendition of this song (My Sweet Lord), check out Billy Preston singing it at "The Concert for George" (after he died, where a ton of music superstars gathered to sing a bunch of George Harrison songs as a tribute to him). Billy Preston was known as "the 5th Beatle." Also performing on the song were Eric Clapton, Jeff Lynne (of ELO), Dhani Harrison (pronounced "Danny," George's son...who looks just like his dad), Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney (the closest to a Beatles reunion we ever got), and others. th-cam.com/video/1EORbL8N-R8/w-d-xo.html

    Happy Birthday, Baby George. 25/02/1943
The quiet, dark and mysterious Beatle.
    Or was he?
At one of The Beatles' first recording sessions with George Martin, they were asked by George Martin " Is there anything you don't like?" and quick as a flash George Harrison said
"Well for one thing I don't like your tie!"

One of my favorite songs by the Beatles and George in particular is "It's All Too Much," from the Yellow Submarine movie and soundtrack album--one of the most joyful (and psychedelic) songs I know.

If we are doing George, gotta do "What Is Life", or maybe "Give Me Love". Or, maybe...

I love George so much! My favorite Beatle! (John was second) George actually was the first Beatle to quit, (in 1968) but came back two weeks later. (see the movie Get Back) He was just tired of his work being pushed aside on Beatle albums, just getting one or two max. (He did get three songs on Revolver) But by 1970, The Beatles had been together fro ten years, and they were all in their late 20's ready to branch out and create their own magic. George had so much music written at the time of the break up, it became his 3 album masterpiece "All Things Must Pass" (Which My Sweet Lord is from) Just Perfection. And George's voice? gentle and smooth, but strong and sometimes rough too. His voice can be so soothing, and his spirituality surrounds you with warmth. I have so many favorites, but What is Life?, Give Me Love-Give me Peace on Earth, The Art of Dying, Here Comes the Sun, and Something, of course. He had an amazing life, but never forgot where he came from. Gone too soon, but loved forever. Thanks for you fun review and many happy listening s to all new music to you!

George Harrison was the first Beatles to have a solo no 1 album: "All Things Must Pass". He was an extraordinary artist.
The reason The Beatles split up was irresistible force paradox. ie: John and Paul's conflicting ego (and genius).
My favourite George Harrison's songs? This, and "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and "Here Comes the Sun".

I remember learning that the Beatles had broken up when I was about 6 years old. They'd been broken up for a couple of years and I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach, I felt genuine childhood grief. WHY??? They sound like such great friends? They get along, they are funny! What happened??? I asked my mom through sobs and SHE said, it was because they grew up. The Beatles was for kids. It was for people falling in love, not for people who were married and had all kinds of life or death responsibilities involving all these complex social and legal relationships. It was just too complicated. They had to go off and become individual adults with wives and kids.
Another take on their breakup is that they never really broke up. On the late Beatles albums they were each writing their own songs. It was like a compilation of solo projects. Then when they did solo projects they constantly collaborated with each other.
But there was a magic to the Beatles being all together at once. The Saturday Night Live where Loren Greene (joke, Paul McCartney would get it) the director ;-) of SNL offers the Beatles a 1000$ if they do a reunion on SNL. That prospect really struck a chord with a lot of people, and again when it was learned that it almost happened.

The Beatles broke up because they grew up. They started off as young kids trying to find themselves; and they did, and that was it. Comes time to fly the coop and do your own thing eventually - they did it right and their timing was perfect. They were the 60's.
