One of the many things I love about Tuba Skinny is that all numbers are, at a minimum, a number of solos by everyone in the band. Everyone gets his shot. No one can ever say "I don't get any minutes, coach." Then it builds up to the big finale when everyone goes pedal to the metal, bringing the house down. Love it!
Erika's and the whole band is terrific, but Shaye's solo, against stop chords (4:09), is breath-taking .. exquisite warm & clear tone matched by creative phrasing . The crowd responds and she allows herself a slight smile at the end of the tune .....
The band is always great, and Shaye owns my heart. AND, now for the VERY first time, we are treated to much improved (and much overdue) video production. Hope this level of video becomes the new baseline, with continuing improvements.
When she taps the top of her head it is a signal to return to the first musical theme -- as in "...from the top". Most of these tunes have a theme "A" and a follow-on theme "B". If you listen to the theme played by Shaye Cohn on the cornet at 4:09 and then immediately return to the beginning of the clip, you will note that she plays the same theme line.

Wow. Great talent! Sounds fantastic. Thanks for sharing.
Shay can play her horn and piano, as well as direct the band. Erika's sultry voice and bass drum just amaze me. I love this band!!!!
Dont forget Shaye is damned good on the fiddle too !
@@californiancondor6860 and a couple of other instruments, she is a bit of a musical genius

Oh, Erika! So fine!

Tight means tight but Tuba Skinny means tighter than tight.
What does the little tap on the head, and knowing look indicate.....?
She's next up to be featured. Even though they know who's likely up next, she calls every solo/feature with a nod, point, look, etc.
