Both are great adventure games with really high replay value, but my favourite of the two is the Sega Master System game. Feels more refined with less reliance on needing a walkthrough that isn't the instruction manual.
The big thing that I like about Golden Axe Warriors is how it guides you through the game without the need for an external guide. Makes it much easier to get into. I feels more like a sequel than Zelda 2.
I recently discovered this game and have been playing it on my retro trio. Sega kids didn’t miss out on anything. It’s a blast and definitely feels like playing the original Zelda for the first time. I agree the battling seems harder but maybe I’m just rusty since my last visit to Hyrule was in the 90’s.
I grew up playing Zelda, and oddly enough, my parents really got into it! We got a Master System after the end of it's life, because it was cheaper to get that vs. buying new Nintendo games. Golden Axe Warrior was our favorite game. It was Zelda, but better!
I'm a big fan of the Golden Axe series I have played the arcade and 1 through 3 on Genesis. I have never seen or heard of Golden Axe Warrior til now though, very interesting! The GA games I played were hack n slash or beat em up style arcadey games. I dont know how I never knew about this one, I really got into playing Golden Axe around the same time as I was playing D&D and reading Lord of the Rings it has a similar vibe. Zelda is great too A Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game.
I was a bit disappointed with GAW, honestly. Difficulty curve is too steep, and the character moves too fast. BTW GAW is available on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for Xbox 360 and PS3.

Yeah! That is a good thing

Yeah it’s much like playing Zelda 🙂
Golden Axe Warrior Is an A+ in my book. I played through this game with my son, and we had the best time. One of the best PSG soundtracks, too.
Awesome!
I like the sprites more in GAW but the music in Zelda is so good!
Yeah the music in Zelda is great!

nice! Golden Axe Warrior does seem like it requires more skill too.
Yeh, I love Zelda, but Golden Axe Warrior is better.
Awesome video! I grew up with Golden Axe Warrior and absolutely love it. I still need to really try to get a decent way through Zelda
I still need to give Golden Axe another go 🙂
Thanks for posting this. I will need to check out Golden Age Warrior.
Cool! It's worth checking out if you are a classic Zelda fan!
Golden Axe Warrior on SMS looks much better.
Yes... I can agree with that!
Golden axe warrior was the first Zelda like game....and a better one. Still have this on my sms.
Nice! It’s quite rare now I hear 👍
@@BriansManCave yes...here in THE Netherlands it’s easy to get one. Because the master system was big

GAW is phenomenal!!!!! One of my favorites for the system, still got it along with all my other favorites
Nice!
As much as I like playing Zelda, Golden Axe Warrior is clearly better.
I need to give that one another shot. It felt like I wasn’t getting very far when I first play it!
for me GAW could be the true Zelda 2.
Zelda !!!!
the best!
The Legend of Zelda on NES Is the best game on that console
I won’t argue that! 👍
I love Zelda
same here :-D
goldenaxe warrior was fun and was coolhad ton check it out since i like my goldenaxe beat emups even toi only played and conquered 6out of 9 dugeons

Thanks for covering this game. Good to see somebody good actually cover this game. I’m very anti Master System but this looks like a fun time to me.
I found that the sega game was quite difficult to get going! Zelda is much better 👍

Nice!
The US GAW moves faster than the PAL version. Regardless, it's still better than Zelda.
For me, Golden Axe Warrior was yet another attempt at Sega to go "Anything Nintendo does, we can do...less gooder..."
ha! that is very true.
Wrong
@@derekzicari2181 And yet here we are, Sega still attempting to do what Nintendoes.
