This is actually the first hip hop song.
This is my favorite artist of all time. No one my age understands this type of music or my reasoning for listening to it but I really enjoy old time country, especially when it's the singing brakeman.
percursor to gangsta rap sang by a tubercular frail ex railroad hand.
Jimmie said “try me and ima pull out the stick” 1930 and then yodeled about it hahahahha
This song would be great in Fallout New Vegas.
I wonder what Jimmie would think about gun control....oh wait no I don't.
Obviously culture is a neutral lol. most of this man's music sounds like an antique version of gangster rap. I love it. My dad introduced this to me when I was 8 years old. That was about 40 years ago
Gangster music has been around for centuries “Jimmie Rodgers” “Johnny cash”
and you thought the likes of tupac were the first to invent a hard man, gun slinging persona?
Ah, good old fashioned double entendre.
I have a new favorite song and artist. Jimmie Rodgers was a genius.
Jimmy had ties to my Great Grandma. From Chicora Mississippi. I am73 years old now.Been listening to him since 1965.Know most by heart !
Real music
Done in Hollywood,CA July 1.1930 just Rodgers vocal and guitar. A couple of weeks later on July 16 in the same place, he would record Blue Yodel No. 9 with Louis Armstrong,t; Lil Hardin Armstrong,p. Johnny Cash would re-enact that moment on his tv show.
