ST: "Do you remember me? We flirted back then."
Literally every officer: "Do you have any idea of how little that narrows it down?"
Everyone throughout: "you're a true warrior of the three kingdoms!"
End of the game: "...the age of the three kindoms was about to begin"
Zhuge Liang's line in Chibi about how he'll be remembered in posterity is one of my favorite moments in the game; it's such a great way to nod to his reputation with some humor, as you mentioned, while also giving Zhuge Liang a moment of self-aware humility/self-deprecation (his strategic acumen being overlooked for a more fantastical story is acceptable as a sacrifice for the larger victory). Such a small moment relatively speaking, but a great character touch in a series that usually doesn't bother with them.
I just replayed this stage on the hardest difficulty and sometimes it really does feel like offscreen fights are being dice rolled like dnd because han dang dropped dead as soon as he encountered zhang liao
Lol, Huang Gai in the thumbnail.
"Come at me bro! So far, I'm the only one of twelve tiger generals, who's son amounted to something! Come and get some!"
Just a heads up, when you are doing Wei's Alternate route, you will miss out in the Battle of Huaring Path for the Wei side.
The ending here reminds me a bit of Koei’s FE: Three Hopes (another story with three kingdoms of course).
Cuts off at a midpoint of the “actual” story and leaves it open-ended how the rest of the war will go. I think I prefer something like DW4 where you would instead take your chosen kingdom all the way to a fake victory and unify China!
Quick tip going into NG+: You’ll start unlocking rank 7 weapons as random drops throughout the campaign from defeated officers. Setting the game to a higher difficulty will result in better drop rates. I would recommend also buying the cheapest halberd in the shop in NG+ just to unlock the halberd proficiency. This will allow you to get halberds as potential grade 7 drops (won’t get them if proficiency isn’t unlocked). I made the mistake of waiting to buy the grade 7 one in shop, and it wasn’t worth it haha. Enjoy NG+, will be continuing to watch!
Damn i didnt know you had to buy one to get them to drop, luckily i had enough money to buy the strongest one(not the most expensive) by selling all the weapons i got in my whole playthrough (i only ever sold my weapons once when it reached the cap)
Not to mention, the challenge for the grade 8 (luan weapon) halberd happens quite early on
@ Haha yup, basically what I did too! Alternatively you can get a halberd by defeating Lu Bu on any of the missions he appears in, and I’m pretty sure he drops halberds only for a weapon drop. The earliest battle I think would be at Hulao Gate, but he usually doesn’t drop a grade 7 anyway, so it’s probably easier to just buy a cheap one from the shop and get the drop from a random officer.
Yea the grade 8 halberd is amazing! Obviously takes a little bit of grinding to do all the ultimate hero challenges, but once I got that halberd, the rest of the challenges weren’t too horrible. Also the weapon I used to complete the red hare challenge!
@@frankliu8681 nice, I personally didn't really like the combos of the halberd (rage mode and battle arts were amazing tho) so I used the grade 8 sword instead for most things
This part ended on a cliff hanger at red cliffs, the irony and the ending of the actual 3 kingdoms in 280ce while this games story ends in 208ce the numbers are reversed lol just saw the irony in it 😂 great playthrough though
Some of the music at the end reminded me of the music from John Woo's Red Cliff movies.
"Oh he's letting Zhao Yun die so he can catch up to Cao Cao, that's a smart decision"
>Zhao Yun kneels over to superior Zhang Liao
ST: Wait Zhao Yun died?
"Oh that was an accidental decision..."
and now we wait to save Sun Jian from his DW3 throwback death
Okay given that there are alternate routes for the sides I take back what I said. It's basically confirmed now with both the alternate timelines and the bonds who and what sides will be getting DLC if they make any at this point. I imagine they might go beyond Lu Bu and Dong Zhou and give us Yuan Shao or Kong Rong. Would also be cool if we got a Yellow Turban timeline.

31:55 Learning new mechanics in the finale of the run. 😂 Good time to learn it though, rather than the next run.
"Liu Bei will surely surpass you.... when a novel gets written 1200 years from now and sets him as a really good guy, and you kind of a jerk."
Quick question, are you going to try the chalenge ?
I've just started to read the novel. There are so many name in there, i'm getting quite confused lol
@@davidbeaumier4953 i will be doing all the ultimate warrior challenges after I finish all three story runs
Interesting, since in my ending credits for Ziluan I had Zhao Yun. Pretty sure that part is affected by how many times you had a companion with you in battle?
Yes, its the companion you took into battles the most. I had if you take no companions and go Liu Bei's path, its most likely gonna be Guan Yu cuz the game forces you to take him along a few times.
Dynasty Warriors did Assassin’s Creed better than Assassin’s Creed later franchises
This map is so brutal to play.
I noticed this lore inconsistency but if the random dude says Yuanhua's name is his courtesy/polite/style name and Yuanhua reveals himself to be Hua Tuo in the end, which was kind of obvious, then why aren't the other Chinese characters using the courtesy/polite/style names as well?
They're all referring to each other by their personal names yet none of them use their style names to refer to each other. But only Hua Tuo is doing this for himself? It doesn't make sense and is inconsistent. If it's just for the reveal, then that is wasted because 3K is retold over and over again so even those who are not adept would know who Hua Tuo is or look him up quickly with their phones.
@@Morindacil they do in Chinese dub. The English dub just ignores this
@@SeriousTrivia oh ok. Guess English dub remains inconsistent then. Cool to know the Chinese dub maintains the style name consistently.
will you try to redo shu faction for altered timeline? iirc only changban fight has it for shu faction, so you could just replay that fight.
edit: rip they said no zhuge magic, let it be ziluan magic instead
This was admitted in the previous episode: Zhuge Liang needed Peacekeeper sorceries
In this scenario Zhuge Liang said to realized Longzhong plan they must win here, but it feels weird because if they win here surely Wu Wouldn't happy because they would never accept Liu Bei just come and stole the reward beating Cao Cao from them... Probably their best shot for Longzhong plan is before Chi Bi and somehow they Made Liu Biao to give the right to rule Jing to Liu Bei...
I think the entire plan revolved around Guan Yu letting Cao Cao go. The plan was always to let Cao Cao escape, and the way Zhuge Liang guarantees it is by racing ahead of Wu in the pursuit and then placing Guan Yu as the final obstacle. That's how it is in the game, no idea if it holds historically.
Obviously if Cao Cao wins at Chibi, Wu and Shu are both crushed so that's not an option either.
lol Land of peace? Or land in pieces?
I thought for the mandarin dialogues Sun Quan's campaign sounds the most cringe while I enjoy Cao Cao's campaign the most (I swear if I have to hear Han Dang go "notice me senpai" in mandarin again..)
That said I think the mandarin voice over made the battles feel more authentic and epic.
The alternate endings are not worth the effort sadly. Especially Wu's endings are super hard to get, given you have to beat two really tough fights, even with NEw Game + available to you, the second one is anoying and not worth the effort. Cutscenes dont change, the story progresses as normaly and you only get an additional ending cutscene, in Liu Bei's case its just a zoom out of a Prospering city with him and the Officers around him. They could have left those out and worked on other story aspects, or add an extra mission or something. Its a Warriors Game, story telling was never their strong suit, but focussing every event around the MC takes away alot from every other character, they all just love you.
Gameplay wise, good game though, I hope when we get a New Warriors, it will be Focussing on just a small cast of characters but it plays like This one. Also, love the commentary, still always the best part of these videos, all the extra tidbits of Knowledge and explanation is great.
Not having played, just having watched this, it really feels like the game peaked at Hulao Gate (bar the cutscene after it)... and then it just kinda flatlines ?
Which is a damn shame, they should have leaned more into hypotheticals thanks to Not!Byleth/Shez running around in the Three Kingdoms - like on Liu Bei path having an option to do a mission to save Xu Shu mom or something so he doesn't leave you. Of course that probably would have meant having a longer dev time and I'm going to guess it wasn't an option esp. since it really feels DWO is the last swan song of the series (a bit like Fire Emblem : Awakening : a game where you just toss a ton of stuff into and hope it works enough to revive the series)
Oh well...
I would say it peaked at Zhang Jiao final battle and then flat lined. That was a great stage design and was never seen again.
I think you're a bit too harsh on Sishui & Hulao gate on the account of the absolute disaster that was Dong Zhuo death afterwards. But I also do see where you come from.
@ I mean Lu Bu shows up carries those stage. It doesn’t take much to make those stages good
Oh my god was the story god awful lets hope the other story campaigns are better.
