I worked in state government for 28 years. Often I was told I was not a team player. I took it as a compliment. When someone would say this to me, usually a college educated boss. I would listen to their stories of when they were in college and the stunts they pulled, some illegal. I would tell them I learned at an early age to do my own thinking. Then I would relate a story I read about a fraternity party where they would get a girl drunk then all have sex with her then ask him is that what being a teem player is. A couple of their stories hit close to that. I would ask if that was your daughter would you want someone that thinks for himself and maybe gets her out of that situation or would you want a teem player. There are benefits to being raised in the country. Friends are few and far between. We learned to think for our selves to work things out and there was no crowd to follow. I can't say I got moved up to higher positions as quickly as the ass kissers I mean teem players but I don't regret it
Eh but sometimes they guy who doesn't work well with others is just a pain in the ass for everyone else trying to do a job. State government is structured in a way where each person is a cog in the overall machine, and every cog has to do its part for the machine to run smoothly. Different than living out in the country.
There were no complaints about my work it was the other activities that went on sometimes during work hours and some after. I usually got to work an hour early mostly to avoid traffic and if we were going out in the field I usually had everything loaded before they got there. Do you think they appreciated it? No they were just glad they didn't have to help.
Yes, but I have to disagree on one thing: It may be slightly better in the countryside because the governments grip isn't/wasn't that tight there. But 1. it's getting tighter and 2. Even there you're nearly as many who support the system blindly.
I like that quote. But nowadays, and kinda to the point of this video, the majority is more silent than those who make the most noise, which makes them SEEM like the majority. “You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me.” ― Alexander Solzhenitsyn
What both you and brerSolzhenitsyn seem to be struggling to articulate is something along the lines of:" This above all; unto thine own self be true and it must follow as the night the day thou canst not then be false to any man." The question is, are dreaming machines-men(human beings) capable of integrity wholenes, perfection or anything other than being legion? On the available evidence the answer to that is No; you ask more of yourself and others than they/you have, so integrity-however understood, is not exactly on the menu for dreaming machines; they are*never* one, but rather legion. Sadly integrity has also acquired religious or moralistic/normative overtones or connotations, and nothing stupefies men like all that good/evil/ right/wrong, morality/ethics religious mumbo jumbo, which renders them incapable of impartial reason by necessary implication.

Respect. That’s dedication... I’m surprised your persistence paid off though. People believe what they want to believe, which is whatever feels most familiar or comforting. It’s hard to nudge people out of their stupor, and pushing only tends to create more resistance and resentment
Somebody once said that people are anxious to comply much more than they are required to comply. Eric Fromm wrote about the fear of freedom that keeps people in a state of self-subjection. A human being is not fully human unless he is free. And, ultimately, some fates are worse than death.
It simply boils down to people wanting to be told what to think, feel, say, and do because they were trained to obey authority without question and didn't know how to think for themselves.🤔

Many philosophers said we need to accept that we feel negative in such times, we feel sad, angry, frustrated, lost. They say we shouldnt try to cure these feelings, we should accept them but keep an objective mentality otherwise you'll lose the battle to your mind. In simple terms, hit rock bottom and the only way is up. Then you'll find something within you, and you'll begin to heal and get stronger. Youll start to feel better. Eventually you'll look at life and think "I got through my own hell, nothing in reality can stop me", then you stop fearing death, you stop fearing what will happen to you because you've fought the hardest battle, then you can fight back for what you value with the heart of a warrior instead of the emotions of an unstable man. But this won't happen for most, we're designed to be scared, were designed to seek comfort, so we're weak.
The number one answer to that thumbnail question is fear. It is the great motivator of most unwanted actions. Life is a constant struggle to fight and overcome fear. It's difficult for me to fear any longer. I have been dead, seen the other side. It's not to bad once you get use to how everything and everyone looks. Very quiet. No noise of any sort. So if it's fear of death you have, I say to you do not be afraid. There is no death, just loss of physical body. Which still kinda sucks. Cause you can't hug, kiss, sex, touch. You can feel though.
You and me both. I wrote a song about just that. The first line is “As I climb out of my chains, stepping into morning light.” The final verse is “May this world be a better place because one man gave up the chase” So happy for all who see the hopelessness of running in this rat race ❤
When I was in high school the psychology class did a test on the students where there were two brick shaped boxes that were different weights... a few people were in on it so they were the first to hold the bricks and they said they were the same weight, so then everyone else BUT ME said the bricks were the same weight. The instructor then told everyone that I was the only one who got it right and then people started confessing that they noticed the weight difference but said they didn't because they didn't want to be the odd one out and gaslighted themselves into thinking they must be wrong if everyone else is saying something different. I was the only one who had the integrity to say they were all wrong. It was hella creepy. I was about in the middle when the bricks were being passed so all the people after me chose to single me out and bully me basically because all of the people before me had said the bricks were the same weight. I was also the only goth so I'm sure that contributed to their decision. They saw me as a freak and an outcast already.

"Useful idiot" In political jargon, a useful idiot is a term currently used to reference a person perceived as propagandizing for a cause-particularly a bad cause originating from a devious, ruthless source-without fully comprehending the cause's goals, and who is cynically being used by the cause's leaders.
My father, who would have been 100, told me years ago to turn the idiot box (TV set) off. He didn't like the blank stares that it perpetuates. Cell phones are even worse.

There is a Monty Python sketch where there is a society of people who put things on top of other things. They conduct a whole meeting discussing how important it is that they put things on other things, until one of the members says the whole thing is a bit silly, and the leader agrees and disbands the lodge. Very apropos indeed.
Good information in this video. One thing I'd like to bring attention to, is that we should all be careful as to not blaim any one particular group of people for the lies etc. For example, do not participate in blaming a particular religious group for these things, because there are good-willed and bad-willed, as well as ignorant and complicent individuals from all groups. And even when the numbers seem to indicate something, things aren't always as they seem. It is just as easy to get caught up in false narratives built on nothing more than theories, exaggerated statistics and lies with alternative information too. Apply this same logic with government sectors as well. Many of these sectors are so compartmentalized, that the majority hasn't the slightest clue about what is actually happening.
Absolutely ! It seems almost 'fashionable' nowadays to over-simplify a problem and believe absurd things just to blame whole groups -= because it's harder to accept there's more nuance to the situation, and that we need to self-regulate our emotional knee-jerk reactions.
In 1966, at Teachers' College, Huxley's 'Brave New World' was required reading with many follow-up assignments and discussions. Publicly conforming to what we privately disagree with makes us complicit in tyranny. Each of us has far more power in society than we have been lead to believe. Most people will reject what they think is true, if it means they can conform with the majority. Why?
Biologically wired to do so, as stated in the video. Habit is everything. 300k years ago, if a dude in a tribe says I'm gonna go be an individual, hunt by myself, build my own shelter, etc, he dies. If he stays with the group, he survives. The option to live a solitary existence is very recent in our evolutionary history. And even then, because of such a vast amount of time spent behaving in this fashion, only a few of those that do decide to separate from the group are truly cut out for it.

I did not conform whenever I had the ENERGY to not conform. @@WinstonSmith.74 I think the ultimate evolution is in learning to not use terms like 'sheep', even if that's consistent with their behaviour. Marcus Aurelius tells us that we ask for the impossible when we ask for there to be no fools, idiots, scammers, etc, in the world. So when we encounter them, we do ourselves a disservice and behave in a very unreasonable fashion if we don't take them in our stride. It's not their behaviour but our reaction that ought to be scrutinised. If we had been born in their bodies, with their circumstances, with their experiences, we'd be in precisely the same situation that they currently occupy and be the recipients of the exact same judgement that we're doling out here. (Not to say that your point isn't valid and our criticism justified.)

You mice(nothings and nobodies) *talk* a good game, but are invariably all talk and no do. There are but two kinds of liberty or freedom; internal and external. He who has the former has no need of the latter. I cannot say that *All * men are the slaves of their functions be cause I have no experience of all men or any universal, but it is fairly obvious that men(human beings) have no choice but be the slaves of their functions. "The unenlightened man has no choice, for he is a slave. The man on the way to enlightenment has a choice. The enlightened man has no choice; he does what is necessary"-Chan Buddhist saying. A samurai that had been sent assassinate a zen master gained audience by saying he had a question-specifically what was the difference between heaven and hell. The master said that he was well aware that the samurai had been sent to kill him and that the question was merely a pretext, where upon the samurai became angry and half drew his sword at which the master said: "There open the gates of Hell" whereupon the samurai, sheathed his sword and took his hand off it, and the master said: "And there the gates of heaven." If you wish to escape from prison, it does rather help if you recognise that you are in prison, and if you wish to be freed from slavery, that you recognise that you are a slave, as is your servant here present and as are all men, the slave of the functions, and two functions in particular. Of course the samurai had no choice. I have a better chance of becoming enlightened or awakening, if I recognise that I live my life in dreams and sleep and recognise my slavery to my functions. I think that the social psychology study highlights the extremely important human need to belong and to be connected to other humans and to the group. In that study, the group was his cohorts. That was his world and reality. You don’t want to stand alone and stand apart from your peers. It’s a lonely and threatening place, even if you know, you’re right 100%. I own two businesses!! YES TO ALL THIS! When you deal directly with the Government through business you fully understand and can see behind the curtain. Business owners need to be the first to stand up and pull back the curtain. I think john stossel had a video that showed enterpreneurs complaining about how they have trouble implementing new ideas because they have to get passed government laws and rules. Heck, in most countries you can't operate a business without a license. It also doesnt help that governments are monopolies and so are not encentivised to improve. The hard thing is, even if you are the sort of person who is either predisposed to non-conformity, or have gotten there through intentional effort and reflecting on your experiences, you cannot survive many contexts without yielding to the majority. I can think of countless times in my life where I was the only person not willing to bullshit, and every time the consequence was rejection by those around me and expulsion from whatever group I was a part of. I think this is what Khalil Gibran calls, "The Joy of Being Shunned and Scorned." But after a while it gets lonely. When the sick world calls you "wrong" over and over again, it's hard not to internalize it. Being a part of a group entails conceding your mind, and if you think it doesn't, you already have. Maybe if you had a handful of other minds to share your loneliness with, you could withstand the pressure of the group more easily.
If a single star could stand on it’s own from the billion of shadows out there overwhelming the universe, then you can find your own way towards happiness with those liked-minded, NOT TO THOSE who would TURN THEIR BACKS on you! You must find your own stars, no stars have to stand alone. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can't say I got moved up to higher positions as quickly as the ass kissers I mean teem players but I don't regret it
That’s a really good story
The word is spelled team.....not teem.

“You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me.”
― Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Integrity will always TRIUMPH over corruption, no matter how overwhelming the corruption, the truth itself is more devastating to the lies ten-fold.
What both you and brerSolzhenitsyn seem to be struggling to articulate is something along the lines of:" This above all; unto thine own self be true and it must follow as the night the day thou canst not then be false to any man."
The question is, are dreaming machines-men(human beings) capable of integrity wholenes, perfection or anything other than being legion? On the available evidence the answer to that is No; you ask more of yourself and others than they/you have, so integrity-however understood, is not exactly on the menu for dreaming machines; they are*never* one, but rather legion. Sadly integrity has also acquired religious or moralistic/normative overtones or connotations, and nothing stupefies men like all that good/evil/ right/wrong, morality/ethics religious mumbo jumbo, which renders them incapable of impartial reason by necessary implication.

i think the past 3 to 5 years have been a prime example in what this forced consensus will do to a society, regardless of where you are on the planet. pretty much what social engineers are exploiting, the need of "being a part of" and not to be left out of the majority.
I was thinking about that but the last few years have been so complicated compared to the story in the video. We don’t know whether the virus was natural, released by accident or released on purpose somehow. We don’t know whether those at the top are orchestrating things, who’s involved etc. (not just with covid). Everyone had their own agenda during covid, everyone using it to their own advantage. Drug companies are still ‘advertising’ their vaccines through ridiculous news stories. Anyone who objects to anything is immediately labelled a conspiracy theorist.
I don’t see how we can have a true opinion because we just don’t have the facts. Best just not to get involved. The person I now live with has tv on all day and the level of manipulation is astounding…it’s just non-stop. I don’t have such a kind view of my fellow humans as the theorists included in this video.

But this won't happen for most, we're designed to be scared, were designed to seek comfort, so we're weak.
we get to see this live on a massive global scale...so many sheeps...so many cowards...
What happened for you to come to realize this?

The instructor then told everyone that I was the only one who got it right and then people started confessing that they noticed the weight difference but said they didn't because they didn't want to be the odd one out and gaslighted themselves into thinking they must be wrong if everyone else is saying something different.

Publicly conforming to what we privately disagree with makes us complicit in tyranny. Each of us has far more power in society than we have been lead to believe.

Some will lie just so that they can belong to the group; that’s their preference. As the Japanese proverb says, “the nail that stands out gets pounded down.
This is what the woke ideology is like.
I own two businesses!! YES TO ALL THIS! When you deal directly with the Government through business you fully understand and can see behind the curtain. Business owners need to be the first to stand up and pull back the curtain. Business owners and entrepreneurs are the ones who keep the economy going, keep people employed and are the first to donate to our communities. We are the first to see the deceit, first ones to educate the public on who really supports the way of life of the citizens in their communities. To the government, we are all just tax farmers who continue to feed the Gov't. The Gov't who hands our tax dollars to over seas countries all while we have Veterans and Citizens in our country who are starving an homeless. We need to stop paying them. What are they going to do when we all just say NO!?
I think john stossel had a video that showed enterpreneurs complaining about how they have trouble implementing new ideas because they have to get passed government laws and rules. Heck, in most countries you can't operate a business without a license. It also doesnt help that governments are monopolies and so are not encentivised to improve. Granted even businesses have their own negatives like bad practices and monopolies once more but at least we can choose to shop there or not but a corrupt government offers no choice.
A business without employees makes no money.
@@ripztubig4457 A Business that makes no money can hire no employees. And when you do hire an employee and pay them $18/hour it actually costs a business $25/hour, Work comp insurance and Unemployment Insurance are a government requirement. That is money that we never get back. And during Covid the Gov't handed out unemployment like someone throwing trillions in cash off the top of skyskrapers. We now have to pay all of that back. It's money we never recoup if we never use. We opened After the pandemic. So we are paying for $ we as a business didn't use. We pay $16k in insurance/year $8k/year in Unemployment That's $22k I have to send away. I don't get anything for it unless the building burns down. But the Gov't Requires me to have it.
I think this is what Khalil Gibran calls, "The Joy of Being Shunned and Scorned."
But after a while it gets lonely.
Why is it always *Somebody_Else*that is compliant and or obedient with you smug sneering mice(nothings and nobodies)? You are very quick to point out the mote in your brother's eye, al the while ignoring the beam in your own, and likewise the smug pipsqueak author of the piece.
If you could become aware of your own inner impotence and slavery leaving you no choice, you might have some compassion for your brother/neighbour, who like you has no choice.
The unenlightened man has no choice for he is a slave.
The man on the way to enlightenment/awakening has a choice.
The enlightened or wakened one has no choice; he does what is necessary"-Chan Buddhist saying.
Not all tyrants are external; all men have their inner Pharaoh or Herod, who surprise surprise invariably suffers from that terrible disease I-am-right.
A young pupil on the way of questioning went to his master to ask him if it was in order to be friends with his fellow pupils to which the master replied:" My son, on the way of questioning *E-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y* is your friend.

Stop hanging out with groups/ crowds. Seek God. You will never be alone.
@@alrent2992 From who or where did you get the(whatever you mean by and have no idea)god stuff.Did you invent it all by yourself or is it somebody else's idea?
What exactly are you calling god, albeit that you have not the faintest idea what you mean by god nor what you are calling god, in which case it is probably best if you avoid using words when you have absolutely no idea what you seek to convey by them.
When I was in third grade, our teacher asked us which syllable was emphasized in a bunch of words. I was the only one to raise my hand for one particular word and it was obvious, I was scared to raise my hand because of it. But the teacher encouraged me and she said ended up saying I was right. That teacher has no idea that she influenced me for the rest of my life when she did that.
Some times its the little things. This applies when raising children. Confidence for the rest of your life by one small exchange.
And no doubt to this day you reflect on how wonderful and superior you are, that being a very common form of slavery. Swaggering mice(nothings and nobodies) are rarely aware of what ridiculous figures they cut.
It's not that we 'care' about agreeing with the majority even when they are wrong. It's more like we fear being outside of the majority because the majority are more than happy to be aggressive and violent towards, and castout, the outsider.
The narrow path is never easy that is why only the few will walk it.
The Solomon Asch study about the length of the three lines was stunning. Back when I learnt of it I felt contempt for the social environment of the place and time the results came out of.
Little did I realize how likely was the chance that it would reappear in analogous form, in my lifetime, where I live.
I was recently in Azerbaijan and stores had Support Ukraine flags in their windows. Most disagreed but feared losing tourist traffic.
Same in Alaska's historic Russian goods shop in Sitka. I found that a little odd
