Next time, also mention Ezri Konsa, as well. He is a rolls royce defender and is getting better and better. Has one of the best records for players not dribbling past in the league
Great breakdown. The last few games we've seen us, at times, shift to a back 3 during games with Kamara dropping in as RCB which is another shape I'd like to see broken down. I think we use it against teams at home who sit in a low block. It allows both full backs to be forward at the same time with Luiz as a single pivot dictating the game. At least that's my take on it. I believe Emery is tactically one of the best managers I've seen in my lifetime.
Tbh when we start with a back three we look terrible however as younpointed out when we start with a back four and kamara drops into a third centre back position we look really good
Most of the signings was made before Monchi came in, bar Zaniolo & Lenglet they are all Emery signings, Monchi effect will be seen in the transfer windows to come.
Eh I'm not that interested in Monchi at all I think he could end up being massively detrimental. He's brought in Lenglet and Zaniolo who he'd worked with before, and both are ass. Were about to sign Acuna who I do think is good but it's just another guy Monchi has signed before- I hope he has some fresh ideas soon.
You bring up a point most people overlook. Villa are creating all this without their two star playmakers, Ramsey and Buendia. Ramsey back next week at some point, and Buendia towards the end of the season. Both will be like new signings at vital times of the season
bit of an oversight to not mention Ezri Konsa in that last sequence. he's been solid in all competitions all season long. Youri Tielemans has also adapted well.
First class work Dave, absolutely nailed it. Particularly enjoyed your pointed summary: “Only the premier league Champions [and European Champions?] with 115 FFP breaches have performed better”. Says all you need to know 😉👊👌
Hi Statman Dave, that was a good video, thanks for making it. (Written as a villa fan) (Now writing as a video editor) i think theres an audience for slower paced, longer form videos by you. The information you packed in was rich, and very much of the current trend - analytical yet snappy. I think a longer form video where you gave the same information but in a slower way, with multiple examples, would be great. Lingering on points for longer, perhaps drawing in comparisons with other teams. Perhaps im just getting old and cant keep up so quick! Anywho great work eitherway and thankyou. This message is not meant to be read as criticism but rather an idea for future videos. Hope it doesnt read as such. Peace
No mention of Konsa. Wild. He's been incredible. Also, not sure Buendia was as important for us as made out. He's been in and out of the side since joining.
We actually never utilise crosses from deep from our fullbacks. Possibly more due to our personnel - both Moreno and Cash want to reach the byline and cut it back, Cash wants to shoot lol
unsure on the comment on Watkins being a 'channel striker' when the main thing that Emery has told him to focus on staying in the lines of the penalty area. He generally is bang in the middle dropping off for balls to feet. Good video nonetheless.
Get a big man CF (Ekitike/Delap), get a speedy dribbly winger (Nusa/Sulemana/Lauriente), get a CM. Unstoppable. Only 3 signings. Combined less than 70 mil. Get into the damn Champions League.
Now they are UCL team you could do a video on what areas they need to improve big season ahead. I’ll start mentioning Geertruida, Baena as starters and backups for midfield and LB, Ndidi and why not try Zinchenko he might he on the market.
We won't get top four if we don't sort out our away form. Plus we've only played Liverpool from the top 6, and they hammered us. The next few weeks will tell us a lot about how good Villa actually are
Won at Chelsea, Spurs and Burnley, lost at Newcastle (after losing Mings early on to a season ending injury), Liverpool (after losing Mings replacement Diego Carlos to an injury early on, and Forest who are solid at home. UTV
I wish people would stop making videos analysing Villa - I want us to go under the radar as long as possible. The more people who know how we play, the less of a surprise we are to other teams.
Two outlier results & a VAR/ref stitch-up in a sample size of just six matches, added to the fact we were better away from home all last season, means your point is moot.

ikr - @StatmanDave are you Southgate in disguise?

what a surprise, you bring in a top-class DOF and the club moves in the right direction instead of signing coutinho on massive wages
Monchi & Unai Emery are incredible coups for Aston Villa
Most of the signings was made before Monchi came in, bar Zaniolo & Lenglet they are all Emery signings, Monchi effect will be seen in the transfer windows to come.

Emery has only signed Moreno@@LG26
@@LG26and our best players are from the dean smith era
Would've been nice to see Ezri Konsa get a mention apart from that probably the best most accurate and most insightful video ive watched on us
The Pau & Ezri combination deserves praise. Elite in the making.
Pau is the weak link tho
@@krish4246 Yeah we need Mings back

Don't forget Alex Moreno. Way better than Digne. Fast and a lot more progressive with the ball.

Great analysis Dave. Glad you gave props to Kamara 👍
Emery is perfect for villa
Thank you Dave it’s about time someone gives us our dues
In fairness Pat, everyone is at it lately, we seem to be the story since Spurs slipped.

Thks Statman DAVE, great presentation. Not sure if will be top 4 , but we are definitely in the mix which is a great place to be.
Clear and succinct analysis U E has helped us move to a different level which we can sustain even with some major injuries
Villa will get top 4. Talented, ambitious manager, excellent players. We're winning every home game this season. Watch this space

Well now you can add tottenham and city as the top 6 "scary" games that we've won now. And next up arsenal to keep that home form going

Well no shit but you want us to sell our players so you can do one.
Is emery the spanish dyche??
Erm, obviously not. What a mental thing to say. lol
cooked away from home

Not at all. Just the impeccable home form makes away look bad by comparison
