I must be one of the rare persons to actually can imagine what looks like that dragon IRL, even if the camera is in front of it. The illusion is impossible to see with two eyes, but when watching it with only one lens or one eye, it gives the structure a whole new point of view.
All fairly common perspective related optical illusions, but to see them on such a grand scale is fantastic. The cool thing about the video is you get to see how most of them work (due to the camera moving around the installations in the space). Don't know if it was the slightly tubby beardy geek in the vid who created them but top marks to whoever did. (Of course, it's the big multi-national corporation who claim the credit and reap the benefits in the end).
That's pretty sweet. The dinosaur one amazes me. I've seen most of these already though.. like the face, the teeth, the checker one, etc. Not that it'll go make me buy their phone, but good job on them. lol.
You can make your own dino for you desk. I made two. You can download it somewhere online. Print it out, cut it out, fold it, and display it. Really freakn' cool.
@resbondnerd The product placement at the end also consisted of illusions. The big mobile phone looks like it's spinning back and forth when in reality it's spinning in one direction constantly. We can read the Samsung logo that's attached to the drill even though we shouldn't since it's spinning around extremely quickly (the colours should all blur into one).
The dragon is a very large scale demonstration of the Hollow-Face illusion, which was also used, albeit a bit differently, in the faces between 0:30 and 0:40. The Wikipedia Page on Hollow-Face illusion explains it and also features the dragon. That is the largest one of those dragons I have ever seen.
@KK426LH what theyre trying to show is our view is spinning when the background moves with the spacecraft, but that just the spaceship is moving when it opposes the background
@Funnysterste -- if you mean the one with the star wars spceship, I wondered about that one too. Here's what I think it's about -- the spaceship is rotating in ONE direction at a constant rate, BUT when the background is also rotating WITH the ship, the ship APPEARS to STOP rotating. This is the same effect as credits scrolling across the bottom of the tv news, they seem to stop scrolling when the scene on the screen is panning at the same ate in the same direction as the credits. Make sense?
That one is actually quite easy, you see, the same thing can be done with 2 bananas. The mouths are actually the same, but the eye is comparing the wrong two arches, the top one of the bottom mouth, and the bottom one of the top mouth, giving the interesting look of one being smaller.
I used to watch this all the time! It was so hard to find through all the recent videos /:
