This issue of fighter pay is most often compared to major sports leagues that have been around longer than most of us have been alive... They've had decades to amass enough of a fortune to pay the payers millions every year while the ufc has only been running stable for a couple decades. Like Dana said, the party checks have been steadily going up every year since they started and will continue to go up. A football player today might sign a contract 5 year contract for however many $million but the same player would have only got a small fraction of that check when the NFL was first organized.

Khabib vs connor- 3 million viewers at the same time.
Football World cup final- 3 billion people tuned in during the final.

Khabib vs Conor did 2.3 million PPVs. The actual number of viewers which include viewers on cable tv is way more than that. For example khabib vs gaethje did 600k PPVs only but it was tuned in by 15 million Russians alone on cable TV. Football is definitely more popular but MMA is in its evolving phase.

The success is largely due to exploited labor. Unsurprisingly not mentioned here.

MMA will never be the worlds most popular sport. There are too many other sports where the people are far too passionate about them to ever be supplanted. MMA has taken the place of boxing on the world stage and I can see it growing a lot in the future. Also, I don't think Dana is the best source with regard to fighter compensation. Its in his own personal best interests to keep it as low as possible. Personally I hope the anti-trust suit goes in the favor of the fighters.
