i have all the 1 and 2 inch pieces cut and ready to drill the hole in each. van you elaborate more on how you 1) found the location on the 2 inch piece? i do not understand how you determined the second line. 2) how did you determine the hole location on the 1 inch piece?
Bill O'Rourke Hey Bill, basically I was just trying to find the center of the pivot point. Holding the piece flush to the back I make a mark on the angle. Then I pivot the piece as I would if it was on the wall and make the second mark once it’s fully pivoted. I then find the center of the piece coming straight off the point where the two lines touch at the back and that’s where I make my hole. When I drilled the hole on the drill press I set up a backer and a stop so that I could just set every other piece up there and in the same spot every time. Just making sure they were positioned the same way on each piece. This is the hardest part to explain so I really hope this helps
@@PenaltyBoxWoodshop thanks, that helps. I'll create a jig to hold the pieces so the holes align down the piece. The tricky part is replicating the pivot as it would happen without a true pivot point. Sounds like you did more by feel than anything else?
Bill O'Rourke As with most my projects “feel” goes farther than measurements with me hahaha. As long as you have a good set up on your drill press that will allow you to replicate each hole then it should turn out just fine. I had a few that were slightly off but nothing that a little sanding didn’t take care of once it was all put together.
I've been wrestling with this for awhile. The "hinge" hole placement. Could someone walk me through the measurement technique you are using? The first measurement line is self explanatory but I lose you on the 2nd measurement.
Irving Gamallo Hey Irving, Yes you can use another type of hanging system. I would check with your local hardware store to see what type of system they would recommend. Just make sure it can hold a good amount of weight.
You can buy hanger hardware to attach to the back of it and it would work just fine. I would recommend something that screws in and is rated for a decent amount of weight.

Good build...the one drawback with this design could be that the coats could easily slip off as you're trying to hang them...any issues with that?
Not at all. I’ve used it from everything from wet towels to hats to coats and don’t have any problems. The angle is pretty good for it

I’ve seen some people add strips of wood or a thin sheet of wood on back to run screws into wall. Might be another option for ya.

Strip of wood or sheet of wood mounted on back then screwed into wall works too if ya wanna play with the design some.
