This the very first place that has said that an AirBnb will not work. Many expats who currently live in France have posted that AirBnb and Vrbos are fine. In fact, that is a recommended strategy for many while looking for a permanent rental or buying a place, both of which are extremely difficult to do from abroad.
Yes. Or is this just for people from the UK? Heard alot of rentals want one to have a French Bank account which can be difficult without a French address?
@@gilliantracy7991 Yes, that is indeed difficult, but I was referring to the requirements for the long-term "visiteur" visa in which you need to show that you have a place to live when you get there. The speaker said that AirBnb will not work. I disagree. Many, many people i know have used AirBnb as their address on their visa application with no problem.
@@AkamaiOkole Bonjour! My “Yes” to your first comment was that I was agreeing with you on AirBnB being acceptable on a visitor Visa or VLS-TS (which I am applying for as a retiree from the US soon) as my understanding. I just thought I’d throw in the French bank account thing in case anyone wanted to chime in on that. 🙂
Great videos, thank you! I have a question, I made the mistake of applying for the wrong long stay visa, I got the temp long sejour, which I have to leave France when it expires. is there a way to renew or reapply?
Hello, where can I find a list of required documents for the long stay visa? FBI report, etc? Thank you!

Hi Jack, thank you for your question. We have an article for this here: www.frenchentree.com/living-in-france/moving-to-france/applying-for-your-french-long-stay-visa-step-by-step/ If in doubt, feel free to send us an email at info@frenchentree.com. We will try and help as much as we can and if not, we can refer you to our range of expert partners.
Thank you! Excellent video. Very informative. I understand there are areas for the long-term visa in France: passport, 12-month rental contract, 12-month health insurance, bank account (how much money??), and income (paychecks, pensions). I don't know how much savings retired Americans must show. We own our condo and have modest funds in Fidelity. Will that work? Thank you.
This gentleman's statements that a formal 1 year lease is required, and that a 1 month hotel or other lodging proof for the purpose of the visa application, will not be accepted, are contradicted by every other source on YT, including by guest speakers you have had on this channel, and by France's own visa website.
