Madonna attracts 1.6 million to free concert at Brazil's Copacabana beach

- Around 1.6 million people thronged Brazil's Copacabana beach for a free Madonna concert on Saturday (May 4), braving the heat to see the end of her "Celebration" world tour.
Firefighters sprayed water before the concert, when temperatures exceeded 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), to cool fans gathered near the pop queen's stage, and drinking water was distributed for free. Temperatures were around 27 C (81 F) during the late night show.
Rio's state and city governments said they spent 20 million reais ($3.9 million) on the concert, while the rest was financed by private sponsors. The authorities estimate the concert could bring about 300 million reais to Rio's economy.

I have no issue with the audience paying for a concert. The issue is that many citizens of Rio unwilling paid for this circus which they morally object to the benefit of a minor audience. Rio as most cities in Brazil is bankrupt and lack basic sanitation. The issue is that clueless or dishonest fans spread a lie that this concert was charitable while she was paid handsomely.

De todo modo, o Sul do Brasil estava sendo destruído por fortes chuvas, sofrendo com imensas enchentes, tínhamos muita gente morrendo, homens, mulheres, crianças e animais, para mim seria muito difícil assistir ao show, foi uma infeliz coincidência!

Eu contei por imagens do Google Earth. É estimativas. E considerando 8 pessoas por m² (OQUE É MUITA COISA), numa área de 111.370 m² dá umas 890 mil pessoas. Não acho que o valor de 1.5 milhão seja real.
