Who invented these words for dressy did a sso player create them or is it irl as well srry I don’t know so much about dressy I mainly do jumping with my horse riding school irl but I do a little bit of dressy and I’m getting my own horse in 2 years
I have absolutely no clue who invented the terminology for SSO Dressage but I can definitely tell you that its not the same as irl dressage XD You mentioned getting your horse in two years and currently riding a riding school horse? As someone who was in that spot herself and now has completely converted to being a dressage lover for over 5 years, I felt as though it was my time to shine! A few differences: 1. Irl dressage is about connectivity from the rear, the barrel, and the front of the horse (aka. engagement of the hindquarters), the ability to have the engine going (how active and "on the ball" your horse is) and how flexible your horse is (aka are they the equivalent of a gymnast in the horse world!) - this obviously can't be easily translated into a game hence where SSO Dressage was created! 2. Competitions- For each class, there is a set routine/test that you must perform in front of the judges. Each horse goes in one at a time and based on execution of movements and the overall ride (you'd be surprised how much you can see from the ground). They are then ranked. Note: this is slightly different for Freestyle Dressage- a completely different topic!- again you are being tested on the fundamentals of dressage (See 1) which is why this also doesn't work in game! Finally a word of advice when you get your horse in two years time: I cannot stress enough how important dressage is especially if you love jumping! Being able to effectively collect a stride or have that bit of extra balance from all the leg yielding (that's an irl dressage move- aka lateral work) will prove itself to be invaluable and irreplaceable
