Just a heads up, I'll still be covering Death Note (Part 26 is actually on the Patreon right now) - I'm just going to be covering both from now on!
as long as episode 26 doesnt come out in 2026 im good
part 26 will be poster here sometime or its exclusive?
it'll be posted here on April 16th!
lmao. it won't be that long. -- i actually have an editor now, so things should be more consistent going forward.
@@overanalyzinganimeyahoo!
One thing I always liked, Light got power and immediately planned how he was going to use it. Lelouch got power and integrated it into an already existent plan.
Another interesting point of comparison is how horrified they both were the first time they used their power. Once Light confirmed for sure that the Death Note was real he went into a full on existential crisis and his mind basically snapped. When Lelouche used his Geass and made those guys kill themselves he was horrified by it until he realized what he could then do with this power.
By all accounts, Lelouche should have been far worse than Light given their reactions, instead he tried to save an entire nation and people while Light tried to literally rule the world.
@@MrEffectfilms Also ending-wise Light didn't want to give up himself for his cause, but Lelouche gives it his all
@@chaosryansyep, it’s conviction. The end of Death Note is proof positive that Light was just another criminal. When he’s finally caught, he acts just like every scum bag does. Cries and makes excuses. Lelouch has principles, and will fight, and will die for them.
@@chaosryans i think another thing is that this is one of the few times "redemption through death" actually means something. personally, i find the concept incredibly stupid. people are, in most cases, always more valuable alive if they actually seek redemption. if the most awful yet powerful people in the world gave up their ways and legitimately wanted to help humanity, unaliving (sorry sometimes yt dislikes that word) them would be throwing away their intrinsic value that they have with their mere existence. the only reason we can't do that is that unfortunately most people like that are too awful to where realistic circumstances would not be able to change their minds. lelouch's death was directly the solution to the problem and the only way to solve the problem. he wasn't just dying to "atone", he directly and deliberately knew that his death was what needed to happen to fix the world.
@@pikminman13 yeah, it was symbolic to the people that he took over the tyrant mantle that he had sought to get rid of, just so he could be publicly taken care of by the inspiring masked hero. It's like the perfect contrast to Light. Yagami said he wanted to get rid of crime, and became the worst criminal but wouldn't give it up.
Remember, Code Geass is an anime original. It did not have a manga to adapt. That's why it can do stuff like that Knighmare vs. Tank sequence and Leoluch's Geass Visions, which are both elements that would have been hard to get across in manga form. Making the most out of the medium is one of the things that elevate this series.
I did not know that Code Geass was anime original
@@achmodinivswe9500There are manga spinoffs. But those came out after the anime was a success. This is also part of why there was such a big gap between Season 1 and 2. The writers were hard at work on the scripts.
That last part is something I heard years ago. Anyone more familiar with the behind the scenes should feel free to correct me.
Im still surprised how they let anime original on screen since anime is usually made to advertise cheap to produce manga that gives off greater profits.
@@graycockAnime does make money from both ads and merchandise. As well as blue ray sales, which are huge in Japan. But most of all, anime is an art. And stuff like code geass often come out as passion projects for industry insiders with a vision. Plus, if an anime original blows up, you can always release a manga later.
@@Yodah97 yeah thats awesome how we can have something like Code Geas born out of creativity and passion
I think Lelouch helping out the people in the truck is interesting when contrasted with his lax attitude towards the dead from the broadcast. It seems to highlight the conflict between his desire to not care about the lives and wellbeing of others (so long as he can accomplish his end goal) and his inner empathy. Despite proclaiming that one can't change the world, he's the first to try and help people when they're in front of him.
Uuuuuu. Really nice call out! I didn't even connect the fact that he said that moments before attempting to do something himself.
I think the fact that they were right in front of him was the reason why. He has no power to help the ones dying, so why care? But he'll help if he has the ability. I don't think it has to do with an internal conflict
He's also a take charge kind of guy. Of course he'd rather run in and take care of things, rather than trusting the mob or britannia authority. If there were injured people, he'd immediatly get to first aid, pulling people out, giving orders to whoever could move, etc.
He's putting himself at more risk than the average citizen, too. Leoluch is in hiding, after all, and appearing on TV as a local hero or even having his video shared online could blow his cover. We see later that Clovis recognizes him immediately on sight. No one who's seen Leoluch as a kid ever has trouble recognizing him as an teenager (he's 17 now).
This also plays into something Shirley mentions later, that the reason she first noticed him was because he was helping someone. So it seems to be a habit of his.
I believe part of it is stemming from the "O God, give us the serenity to accept what cannot be changed, the courage to change what can be changed, and the wisdom to know the one from the other." type mentality. There is nothing he can do for the dead so he feels no emotion towards them, he has the serenity to accept it for what it is. Meanwhile when the truck crashes in front of him he immediately knows there may be people who need saving, and in this moment he CAN do something, so he is immediately compelled into action.
Honestly I view it as a pretty nice part of his character and it's largely how he acts through the series. He treats inevitabilities with a calm and collected demeanor, while if he screws up it emotionally destroys him.
Glad this isn't an April fools joke
lol, the thought crossed my mind that it might come across like that.
@@overanalyzinganime make another
u have no idea how happy i am that ur covering code geass
I’m honestly so glad to hear that! I love this anime so much so I’m hoping y’all will enjoy the series. I’ve already read a few comments from some people who said they might end up watching the anime themselves!
Only another 49 years to finish this review series.
why you gotta come for me like that? 😭 lmao. i'm hoping it won't take that long.
@@overanalyzinganime have lelouch geass you to lower it down to 24.5 years.
@@overanalyzinganime”hoping” being the key thing here
Well I havent watched code geass yet so I'll have time to finish it before he's halfway done😁😁
Code Geass is my favorite piece of media ever. It's so fucking good. Always glad to listen to someone analyze it as an excuse to revisit it.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
In a later episode it is shown that the standard Knightmare gun that Sutherlands use can be switched to a "micro" mode for shooting individual people. That's why the guy driving the truck (aswell as the whole cab) wasn't blown away.
"Micro mode"? You mean... semi-auto?
@@KaNoMikoProductions No, micro as in small. As in they can fire standard "human" sized bullets in addition to the regular bullets, which is also in addition to the grenade launcher on top.
They use these "micro" rounds to shoot human targets without damaging the environment. And in the episode I'm talking about, they use them to be stealthy.
That does make sense, since Jeremiah wouldn't want to blow up the whole truck and accidentally release the "poison gas".
@@suncanny1418 I cant remember if they know its not poison gas or not.
Some stuff I wanna note for part 2 because I really hope this gets observed:
Mechs, especially in anime, tend to be inspired heavily by air combat. Code Geass goes an extra mile, when Lelouch captures a knightmare he uses its sensors and the enemy Datalink (the real world term for what he explains in the show) to coordinate rather than fight directly.
This lines up with an often overlooked role in air combat, the AWACS, which uses a heavy duty radar with no weapons and acts as a flying command post.
Also no aviation nut post would be complete without identifying the planes in the opening. F-15s and YF-23s are both featured, though they look like sci-fi ships they're real aircraft (though the YF-23 was a cancelled prototype).
What I note about that is while yes he has this god-like power to control people he doesn’t use it to conduct the battle. It makes it clear very early geass is just one of his weapons, not his whols strategy
@@tomraineofmagigor3499 Yeah, it's pretty clear that he didn't strictly need it for his plan, it just made it a lot easier.
"Geass" could be a romanji form of _geas/geis_ ("gesh", ge- like in guess, -shh) a charm or taboo found in Irish folklore and mythology.
In this way, C.C. may be named for the _sidhe_ ("shee", note Japanese would pronounce C as "shi") the Irish Iron Age tombs and earthworks revered as entrances to the Celtic Otherworld. That, over time, become a synonymous name for faeries. Or ghosts like the banshee ( _bean sidh,_ "fairy/mound-woman").
interesting, I guess it makes sense they didn't name her C.C for the hell of it without putting in any deeper thought
Can’t want how you analyze that Nina scene 😭😭😂😂
Lmfao. I don’t even know what I’m gonna do for that shit because it’s just so wild that they included that.
Skip it
"F*ing Nina"
Nina is awful on every level. Racist... builds a nuke...... is freaking psychopath..... it took mass casualties for her to start thinking that what she is doing might be bad...... Still treats Zero like a monster but doesnt see what she did....

WHY IS THIS THE FIRST I’M HEARING OF THIS??
You definitely need a bigger following.
You aren't a robot voice. That deserves all the love first off.
Second, good shit as always.
Man, first Death Note and now Code Geass?? I think these are my two favorite anime of all time, and I am truly excited to see you finish the Death Note series and continue with Code Geass, keep up the amazing work!
So glad to see someone talking about this series these days! I've recently rewatched it and was reminded of how unique and spectacular it is so this analysis is coming out at just the right time for me
IM SO BLESSED, MY SECOND FAVORITE ANIME GETTING AN OVERANALYZED SERIES???
Hey, I like your over analysis style. Nice. I like how you go into details like the way Knightmares overpower any other machine and how horrifying a lot of the things in the show (such as the identity crisis that leads to the revolution) are.
never expected someone to make such video about my favorite show, hope you'll continue!
I definitely will! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I've been waiting for someone to explain this damn show to me x3. All the things I can find are all 8 minute vids saying "the show is deep" and leaving it there. Good shit as always!
This was amazing and you're amazing. Going to enjoy these for a long long time. Cheers!!
The way you kept looping kid Suzaku turning around to help Lelouch made me unable to actually focus on the video instead of hearing Code Ment's Suzaku constantly repeating "forever?"
FoReVeR?
The attack on Shinjuku is reminding me a lot of the mass murder Israel has been carrying out in Gaza. Hamas is objectively a lot worse than the rebel faction in the show (iirc none of Lelouch's allies are insane fundamentalists, whereas Hamas are insane fundamentalists), but in each case there is a widespread dehumanization of the colonized population of civilians.
Inb4 "you're making it political" or something. It is a political show about how imperialism is bad. The Israel/Palestine comparison is appropriate, especially since we can acknowledge differences as well as similarities.
YOU ALWAYS UPLOAD RIGHT WHEN IM ABOUT TO EAT, ITS AMAZING!!!!
I'm soooo glad that you're covering Code Geass. I just started the show this is gonna be so fun to watch your analysis
I had this urge to watch code geass again during the last few days. I finished today and discovered you started covering it. wtf! awesome. I did not watch a lot of anime but seeing you covering 2 of the few I watched and the only 2 you covered are ones I watched...I love you. go on. MORE!
YESSSSSS
I remember asking for potential Code Geass analysis under one of Death Note videos and I'm overjoyed for being heard and seeing the fruits of it!
I really appreciate this type of content analysis. I’m so excited to see the conclusion of your death note analysis as well as this great introduction to one of my favorite shows OAT up there with death note. Keep it up man this shi is 🔥🔥🔥
Bro is covering my top 2 anime of all time at the same time, you cant make it any better than this🙏
Dude, Code Geass is my all time favorite anime. It has never been doubted in my mind. I’m excited to watch you over analyze the rest of this remarkable series.
broo analyzing 2 amazing shows keep up the good work
will do, King!
My favourite anime, so glad youre covering it
Nice, I hope you continue this series!
Seriously best content on TH-cam out rn I’ve been here since the first death note video and I’m sure I’ll stay for way more 😭
Bro you talking about this is making me wanna watch it all over again
shit, perfect excuse to do it. lol. i gave the whole series a rewatch about a month ago in preperation for these videos!
Thank goodness you are back
man seeing this notification while getting ready on the morning of a final exam is truly one of the greater misfortunes i have experienced in life
but hey at least i have something to look forward to after the exam!!
Firstly, I hope you do well on your exam!!
Secondly, the video’ll definitely be waiting for you when you get done! lol.
@@overanalyzinganime exam went very well actually i got done an hour and a half in advance 💀
been hella busy since but finally got around to this video today 💯💪
Excited for this series!!!
Dude, I.. I can't thank you enough, I love you. it has been 4 days since this video was uploaded, I watched Code Geass because of you in these 4 days, I finished it and, I can't thank you enough, thank you, for introducing me to this masterpiece.... ALL HAIL LELOUCH!
I just met this channel and i love it pls make more of this
Very glad to see your back i was wondering where our overanalyzing guy went
yessss, oh I am going to be happy following this
Them this is gonna be a good series. Keep us the good work
Someone over analyzing my favorite show and I am all for it
I happened to mention this channel to a friend and mention your next series on Code Geass. Turns out he's a real big fan of the show and we watched it together instead of me having to catch up on by myself.
We finished it either last week or two weeks ago, it's GREAT! So thanks for happening to take so long with this upload 😂
Your IPhone metaphor is incredible. I literally went from an IPhone 6s to a 13 this year and the difference feels like I went from a room sized computer to a desktop.
Awesome!! I could never get into this show so it’s great to have you cover it and make it understandable for me. My son had been begging me to watch so this will be my way lol
YESSSS love this please do more and maybe consider doing the movies
Letsssss gooooooo. This channel is fire. At work rn but will be watching after
Hella excited for this series!
I’m glad to hear it! - The next part will be dropping about two weeks!
I am so happy to have found this video and yet so sad it is this early. I just discover the channel and loved the narration of this video. Although I am just a big fan of Code Geass hungry for analytic video about it. I really want to binge your death note analysis.
It is worth noting that most of the coincidences in this show are meant to be interpreted as providence instead of plot drive. There are tangible forces in the world affecting the people and events that occur, pushing the world to a specific conclusion.
I've been waiting for this!!!!
Hope you ended up enjoying it!!
This hype I love code geass and I really enjoyed the death note reaction so It's great to see you Overanalyzing Code geass.
Code Geass is my favorite anime of all time, I’ve watched it at least 50 times. A channel that has a video called “overanalyzing Code Geass” automatically has my sub/bell.
Bruuuuuuu.. That BBD - "Posion" meme was PERFECT! 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Thanks
Code Geass is goated ❤
Spittin’ facts! Lol.
But also - you, too, are goated!
you noticed a couple things i never noticed, very cool!
Could've added that the prince's poor attitude is meant to desensitize the audience from the gravity of Lelouch's murder, Lelouch being the protagonist of the series means that the audience needs to be entertained by him, like him and understand his rage; therefore those who stand against him should be seen as callous, racist, genuinely terrible people if Lelouch is going to actively fight against them.
I also feel like this is why the theme of racism is so commonly imbued into the upper classes, that Lelouch despises, as they are responsible for what happened to him during his childhood.
Thanks so much for entering this anime; I love your videos
Rivalz is also a member of that upper class as well, and while he is somewhat racist, it is not intended with actual malice. He would be more like the average person in the 1940s before the Civil Rights movement kicked off. Casual racist comments might be made behind closed doors or with intimates, but they would knock their child into the next county for disrespecting and adult of darker complexion. His attitude toward them in general is wrong, but he would help someone across the street no matter their ethnicity. He is a racist, but not a bigot. Nor would he approve of the wanton murder that enthused Jeremiah.
I think that we are meant to see the absolute worst in the aristocracy, though Clovis is not actually as bad as he is portrayed and had done some good prior to his panicked order to cleanse the ghetto. It is not the casual racist like Rivalz that are the targets of Lelouch but rather the murderous and effete elite that are his target. By targeting the ghetto in an attempt to save his hide, Prince Clovis set himself up to be the first of many deaths.
i literally could never get through this show, so thanks for giving me context for Code Ment.
I saw this video and decided to go watch Code Geass for the first time from beginning to end.
Man is this a good anime! And I can definitely see why it is a good followup to Death Note, I'm looking forward to this series now.
hell yeah man. this show is so great
Totally agree! I hope you end up enjoying the video!
I JUST FINISHED CODE GEASS PERFECT TIMING FOR THIS EPISODE WITHOUT KNOWING THID WAS GUNNA HAPPEN I LOCE UR DEATH NOTE VIDS
OMG YES YES YES I WAS SAD I FINISHED THE DEATH NOTE ONE AND WAS GONNA BEG FOR CODE GEASS NEXT TYSM
I’ve waited years for this
This anime has always been relevant but it is ODDLY relevant right about now 🇵🇸
omg I can't wait for this one
The point of about Tamaki potentially being the real catalyst for the series intercut with the that clip of Erin and his dad from Attack on Titan killed me.
Code Geass is in my top 5 fs. The thing abt the series is that how ppl enjoy the show xompletely depends on how they feel abt lelouch. That being said, thank you for giving me something to watch while eating :)
great video i was scared it might be over after death note and damn 40 mimutes thankssss
I have seen the title and thought: Great, almost hour long analysis of my absolute favorite series. Its hour long analysis of ONE FUCKING EPISODE. Im soo happy. Thank you.
it's actually kind of insane because the second episode's video is 55 minutes and as I'm writing PT.03 it's looking like that one's gonna be over an hour. Lol. I never expected the videos for this series to be so long from the jump.
but, anyway - I hope you end up enjoying it!!
@@overanalyzinganime I love it already, you're doing great job.
You're just going through all of my favorite anime.
One thing I really liked about the opening is the showcase of the invasion via a simple plan / showcase of forces.
The first time I watched the opening I didn't even see the japanese defence forces / didn't recognise them as such. It shows how insanely less powerful their defences were.
feel like you’re mentioning a lot of the surface level stuff and some of the deeper shit is gong unmentioned. i’ve watched this show 15+ times there’s a bunch you’re not bitting into here. still love the content, this is my fav show ever ever ❤️

thank-you, Matsu Sama! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
FINALLY i am so happy you finally got to cover the series
Your commentary was great as always i am very interested how you will cover episode 7 the episode that showed one of the most important messages of code geass unity and teamwork
Episode 8 one of the best episodes in the series establishing the black knights and having one of the best moments of lelouch
The fight in Narita mountain a great duet of episodes showing one of the most powerful assets of lelouch his use of the environment that ultimately saved him during the final battle and the black rebellions as well as
The mao episodes truly great episodes showing how lelouch could end up and was close to fully being as well as having one of the best moments he had and one of the few solo wins he accomplished in the series
Episode 17 great foreshadowing for many things and just a nice moment where lelouch and suzaku aren't tied to duty and ideals and can just fight together
The euphemia episodes in the island learning of lelouch fond memories of his brothers and sisters was great and "the incident" will be wonderful to see
And the finale the black rebellion will be something to see i can't wait to see you cover it
Also will be interesting to see you cover characters like alucard himself during both season as well as orange boy during the second and the royalty would be interesting like Clovis who had a little more to him
Also a certain traitor , a certain person who outsmarted zero and beat kallen and a certain prince also Sayoko very nice character
Excited to see her covered
And when you cover season 2 i am excited to see some of the best episodes in the series like 1 and 2 , 4 ,6 , 7 that i don't want to say more until we go to season 2 but one of the most powerful episodes seeing lelouch hit the moment he can't contain the spiral he is in is great , the most funny but coolest way lelouch used the environment around him as well as the next one having another one of the best moments in the show the chess match and final episode with the Chinese federation and everything after that will be something i am very excited to see you cover
Of course all the other episodes are great and will be pleased to see how you cover them
Keep up the brilliant work and good luck
I just started Rewatching this. One of my ABSOULTE Favorate anime! I would love to see solo leveling next.
Episode 1 Nina Slander, I am here for it🤣
We are so back with my favourite anime as well! hopefully with an editor this won't take as long as death note did, almost 3 years btw that's crazy
I have never seen Code Geass and now I am intrigued... I wonder what will happen
im hyped!
Someone else mentioned the alternative firing mode on the Sutherland's standard weapon, but it's also highly likely that the wound we've seen on the truck driver was caused by shrapnel. There was a hole blasted through the windshield and with that glass could've lacerated his shoulder, upper torso, and arm as well as getting lodged in
Honestly, greatest pilot episode ever. The seer genius was from the very beginning.
Love your vids yo
