Josh Bridges is an amazing champion, always giving everything he got until the end , whatever he's doing . He's an example to follow, his mindset is amazing .
Did this Workout today myself. :) Reduced the weight on each barbell movement by 20kg/45lbs. It took me 12:00 to complete the workout, but it was awesome. One of the cooles WODs I've ever done! Some years ago, (I think it was in 2014) this video was one of those, that inspired me to start with CrossFit. And today I finally did it myself. Its like a milestone for me. I love it. :)
Yeah for sure. I wouldn't be disappointed if any of them placed first to be honest, they are beasts among men. Salo doesn't quit, Bridges got a crazy engine especially for a dude his size, and Froning got genes like Hercules
full hip extension is not required or jump overs. At the games they had the option to do it like it was done in the video or completely clear it, though when they first announced and demoed it before hand it was to be completely cleared. A minute later they changed their minds.
note that, during the games, the space between each exercise was vastly bigger, than in this video, which is an interesting point according to Bridges time and result.
God damn! It seems like you've got some potential! I'm good at spotting it. Start doing CrossFit challenges. With your talent, I'm pretty sure you can start right away, without any specific training for it. I have a good feeling about this.
big time props for this workout time. Not taking anything away from him, but when they did this workout in the 2012 crosffit games each event was spaced out further, and while that seems pretty lame, a couple seconds here and their add up. All of the events bridges did occupied the same space they did just the OH Squats in the games.
All of you saying Bridges was fresh and all, I'm pretty sure this guy does at least 3 WODs a day if not more. Also, he was the 2nd finisher at the 2011 Games which tells me I'm pretty sure he would have done great even fatigued. This guy has an amazing work capacity and he will be a threat to Froning this year.
The point of this video isn't to say that Bridges is better than Froning, it's only to say that here's a beast, an absolute beast, who wasn't able to make the games last year, but is ready to go this year. This video should only get you pumped up for what's coming up in the future, not bickering on something that's already in the past.
He did it right, this guy is a level 1 trainer himself and a top 5 CrossFit Athlete worldwide. If you're talking about his squats, this is a strategy a lot of CrossFit Games Athletes use which is just breaking barely below 90 to save your hams/quads. Dan Bailey talks about that when he competed in the Open 2011. And those a box jump overs, full extension is not required. He would probably laugh his ass off watching you or your ''sergeant'' try and beat his time.
Have to agree with the top comments, Froning did perform all previous events before the chipper. Still very impressive time, but muscle fatigue would've set in much sooner
Mad props to Bridges, but the answer I'd like to know, is whether he did all the games WODs prior to this Chipper. Definitely do see him in the Top 3 at the games. IMO, gonna be Salo, Bridges, and Froning for the 3
Not everyone's take. Because they weren't regular box jumps, they were over the box jumps. The movement was to go from one side, to the other, by jumping over the box. No hip extension was required.
Just watching this workout was so exhausting that I wanted to vomit, and I was just sitting completely sedentary in this chair. This is just super human!
@vikingblood81 same question here. I mean I totally admire this guy. This is insane but doesn't e had to reach full hip extension on the box jumps? Or I'm just being lame
true.., and also, in the games Froning had to walk a lot more space along the chipper, the bar and the rings were far away from the overhead squats station, if Froning had that little space between stations that Bridges had, he would've done it in less time. Doesn't take away that Bridges did it in amazing time though, the guy is beast, but Froning can do it in 6 maybe a little bit less in this circumstance.
This was amazing!! But, a question for the group (especially anyone who plans to judge the open/Regionals) - would you count his reps on the OHS? Depth looked very close (which in itself is a skill...not going a centimeter further than needed). Again, not asking to be "that guy," just truly interested in other peoples' take on this, because any one of us (who judge) could find ourselves in a situation like this. Either way, this was inspirational to say the least, excellent job!
Could this be considered an entire work out or what cause i like the 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,4,3,2,1 type of training. & is there a name for this type of training?
I like your style. Those three are going to be the three to watch. Depends on events though. Definitely not Froning for first, with those two competing this year.
I'm a little confused. I thought on box jumps you had to stand up and lock the hips out for the rep to count. Also how come they drop the weight on some cleans and not others?
You have differents jump box, in this type, it's not necessary to stand still once you jump to the box, in my opinion is way harder than the other one. And if I'm not mistaken, are you asking why he dropped the bar in some exercises? It's because you have to start from the ground and its easier to do that than hold up the weight and put it on the ground.
I love how we are sitting here picking this apart and all of us (me included) could not come close to this time.... Gonna be a fun 5 weeks ahead of us..... LOL
Insane work capacity to go unbroken! Lol all of you posting negative comments...barbells don't lie you can't cheat it and the amount of work this guy puts in day in and day out would put you on yours ass!! He's at a level of ELITE athlete you will never reach, us who are working understand this and understand that we in a lifetime may never even come close to this. Good job Josh, YEAAAAAAAAAAA
Josh Bridges is not tired at all..... When Rich Froning did it, he trained four days.... NO BIG DEAL !!! KEEP TRAINING JOSH, you have a big way to be like Rich ! Olé !
this guy is a beast rich froning better watch out. With his 2:02 fran and 6:36 chipper the guy looks unstoppable. If the 2013 crossfit games have a higher intensity and more workouts josh will win and if its more strenght biased then rich might have the edge. However rich doesnt have the hunger that josh has.
Haters gonna hate! People are forgetting Josh Bridges came in 2nd and not far off from froning in 2011. This guy isn't a scrub, and unlike that fairy froning who lives on top notch supplements & recovery and in the gym in 2011 Josh was active duty operational Navy SEAL he wasn't living in a gym with top notch nutrition and recovery the guy was breaking his body and still came in 2nd. He will prevail this year!
What you guys didnt consider is that in the stadium rich had to walk a way longer distance which took more than 30 seconds which is the difference between their record, so as I explained no record for this guy
One huge thing to remember rich froning was doing his 11th workout in only three days... It doesn't appear that josh bridges is under the same kind of strain
This video made me start training CrossFit. Thanks Josh.
Leandro Azambuja me too

Damn thats insane i just started crossfit training a few days ago this guy is awesome keep it up man

im tired
Say what you want, think what you want, Josh will be a contender this year, can't wait.
Great camera work and editing
This video made me join Crossfit in 2015 and I am still in it.
such good flexibility and mobility on the overhead squats, even in flat(non olympic) shoes!!
I would love to see this re-done at the Games. Maybe even with heavier weights and/or more reps.
Yeah for sure. I wouldn't be disappointed if any of them placed first to be honest, they are beasts among men. Salo doesn't quit, Bridges got a crazy engine especially for a dude his size, and Froning got genes like Hercules
Big rich fan, but he better keep an eye on bridges he's a beast. And many thanks for his service to this country. Best of luck to ya brother.
The name of the song is Pounding Tensions by killer dubstep
Nunca me canso de ver este video
I see. They are called box "jump overs."
Thank you for the eloquent correction, Cody ;) much appreciated.
full hip extension is not required or jump overs. At the games they had the option to do it like it was done in the video or completely clear it, though when they first announced and demoed it before hand it was to be completely cleared. A minute later they changed their minds.

Inspiring stuff... and great work on the edit Heber...
Worthy to admire... expressive
Incredable work
It doesn't even look like a chipper for him... makes it look so easy
Your heart can explode from this stuff.. :D
Let me catch my breath.... This man is a freak of nature.
Perfect form in everything. Wow
God damn! It seems like you've got some potential! I'm good at spotting it. Start doing CrossFit challenges. With your talent, I'm pretty sure you can start right away, without any specific training for it. I have a good feeling about this.
so this what crossfit is huh?!.....nice ;)

the OH Squats in the games.
I realize that now, haha. Makes more sense. I simply wasn't familiar with this event and am used to the typical "full extension" on box jumps.
All of you saying Bridges was fresh and all, I'm pretty sure this guy does at least 3 WODs a day if not more. Also, he was the 2nd finisher at the 2011 Games which tells me I'm pretty sure he would have done great even fatigued. awesome editing !!
What ever happened to full extension at the top of box jumps?
The point of this video isn't to say that Bridges is better than Froning, it's only to say that here's a beast, an absolute beast, who wasn't able to make the games last year, but is ready to go this year. This video should only get you pumped up for what's coming up in the future, not bickering on something that's already in the past.
The harder you work the luckier you get! Very nice job!
man this guy is a machine, breathing heavy just watching this!
I'M TIRED JUST BY LOOK AT IT.... RESPECT!!!

Man this is brutal! His legs must have felt like jelly at the end.
Como se llama la cancion del video
Exactly. Rich doing it after maybe 5 events including the Pendleton 1&2 is what makes it more impressive.
Just watching this workout was so exhausting that I wanted to vomit, and I was just sitting completely sedentary in this chair. This is just super human!
i just have a little question does a training of crossfit only consists of one wod or do they do more wod's per training ?
@vikingblood81 same question here. I mean I totally admire this guy. This is insane but doesn't e had to reach full hip extension on the box jumps? Or I'm just being lame
Although Josh killed this "Chipper", Rich did this workout in the "Games" after have completed SEVERAL events. Big difference.
true.., and also, in the games Froning had to walk a lot more space along the chipper, the bar and the rings were far away from the overhead squats station, if Froning had that little space between stations that Bridges had, he would've done it in less time. Exactly
That's exactly what I wanted to say and also his overhead squats are close as well.
This is fucking awesome .. look at his resistance and power. Just one word, AWESOME.
hay que hacer las maximas repeticiones que uno pueda?
Generalmente se hacen 10 de cada uno o 12 depende es relativo al peso que le pongas y a tus condiciones
This dude is a beast
This was amazing!!

Holy crap was that first bar a phat bat? Damn!

I'm sooooo trying this.
what is the name of the song that ends the video?
The workout called for box jump-overs. Full extension wasn't required.
¿Cuál es el nombre del Tema?
what is the song at the start can anyone tell me please?
:)

how many sessions he is doing like that ?

what weights do you use

Brutal. Horsepower for days.

Thruster
good work!

Wow, his overhead squat form is tight as hell.
Come on, someone must know the name of the song in the intro?
very cool exercise
Wow I want to be like that one day
That is madness... what a machine!!!
What's the sound ?
Anyone know what his trainers are called?
What you guys didnt consider is that in the stadium rich had to walk a way longer distance which took more than 30 seconds which is the difference between their record, so as I explained no record for this guy
I noticed they don't really inforce the hip ext on box jumps here or in the the games....
El mejor de todos los tiempos, bridges
Fucking insane. Whole body blasted in under 7 minutes
Perfect!!
WOW! This guy is a super athlete.
The BAR dont Forgive 👌
One huge thing to remember rich froning was doing his 11th workout in only three days... It doesn't appear that josh bridges is under the same kind of strain
Squats never broke parallel
How is to soundtrack ¿
very nice Job!!!
He is a machine!!
Are you not suppose to open your hips & fully extend for box jumps?
This man is the beast!
I totally agree. Froning did this workout after a week of grueling multiday WODs
o.O he's a machine..i got tired just looking at him!
well done bro
