I like dmc4 vergil's animation better but the reboot vergil isn't bad and I thought the devs did a fair job at making their own take on vergil. Some ideas even went into the later games such as an aerial rave with more hits (dmc3 vergil aieral rave only had one strike), doppleganger in dmc5, yamato helmet breaker in dmc5,
Air trick: Tie, I can see either one being better. DmC's is faster, while OG has a more powerful weighty feel. Summon Swords: OG Virgil wins easily. The swords look more snappy and feel quicker with the slight stop before firing. Very pleasing. Spiral Swords: Tie, they look pretty similar. Just personal if you like the trail or not. Blistering Swords: OG virgil. They feel more powerful, and the faster fire looks less clunky than the slow one at a time. Storm Swords: DmC. The cutting in half really sells what would otherwise be a tie. They don't feel as punchy, but they seem sharper, if that makes sense. Yamato Combo: OG easy. They are almost the same, however the OG feels so much snappier, harder hitting, and has the nicer effects. Plus the little tease before sheathing the Yamato is waaaaay more rewarding. Yamato Combo 2: DmC has a bit more flavor. What it lacks in power it makes up for in speed and smooth animation. Upper Slash: OG. No contest. The remake version just looks goofy how his body stays mostly still letting his arm do all of the work. Has almost no punch to it. Upper Slash 2: OG again. More punchy animation, and the little spin at the top adds intrigue. Aerial Rave: OG virgil agan. It was almost a tie, but DmC's Virgil doesn't sheathe his sword... it just pops back in. Very annoying. Areal Rave 2: DmC. I think the faster spinning, and additional flourishes really sell this one more than the previous... and he finally sheathes his blade. Rapid Slash: OG again. The effects on the remake one make it harder to see what's happening, and at the same time the ending Yamato sheathing is reaaalllyyy weak. Rising Star: DmC takes a slight edge here. I really like that quick little snap zoom before the actual attack, that's really the only thing selling it to me. Judgement Cut: DmC no contest. think his pose is more dynamic, the slash is cleaner, and the sheathe at the end is waaay better. Judgement Cut 2: OG, pretty much Tie, pretty much the same as before, OG is faster and looks more useful. Judgement Cut 3: DmC. I really like the little spin projectile Helm Breaker: DmC again. I think the actual animation looks snappier, and the little behind the back sheathing is fucking amazing. Also how OG's snaps to his hip, and to his hand is very very annoying. Starfall: Tie. Pretty much the same animation. _______________________________________________ So the results come out to.. DmC: 7 DMC4: 8 TIES: 3 ====== Overall I'd say DMC4 is better, though DmC's isn't at all bad. I think the faster more fluid hits can work in some places, but they lack impact some of the time.
There’s just something about Japanese animators that make everything more visceral and more satisfying. Western developers strive for realism and smoothness but they lose the “feel” that is so important to a medium like video games.
Most people in the west is a lot more attracted towards realism and science. idk who has this quotes but I guess it answers the question and Considering Capcom give them a task to make DMC popular in America, Ninja theory took a good step.
I'd really love to see what ninja theory would do with vergil returning as dante's enemy If there was a sequel. As we can see dmc vergil was somehow Just awakening his Powers while oh vergil was already an evil demonic villain
If they were given a second opportunity (which they won't), I am quite sure they would fix a lot of the flaws of DmC. Character writing, dialogue, plot, etc. Instead of trying to fight the aggressive fandom.

There's been a comparison before years ago, using dmc3 Vergil, so keep in mind, DMC4 Vergil has graphical and technical upgrades, plus it most likely stems from having the DmC version as dmc4's predecessor and takes inspiration. Now, if only DMC5 would come out a more recent Vergil would be more interesting...but they haven't come out a DLC as far as I know.

To me DmC (Reboot) Virgil is what I would imagine his moves would look realistically. While the other is dramatic. Super fun to watch! Thanks for posting.
Gotta love that Reboot Virgil holds the Yamato upside down rather than how Vergil properly holds it. To clarify, You can see how Vergin carries the Yamato with the curve facing upwards until He performs an attack that uses Iaijutsu which He then holds the curve facing downwards so that He can properly draw it.
I think the main purpose here is to show how DmC moveset influenced OG Series (Many moves 4SE Vergil has are not from 3SE, but DmC). The reboot may not satisfy everyone but it's not negligible or so bad as some may say.
Same thing could be said on how even though DMC2 screwed up a lot of things, many of its parts were facelifted into DMC3. The basis for some of the style actions like directional dodging and wall running, gun actions like Rain Storm and Twosome Time, as well as legacy weapons like Rebellion came from 2, which were then fully realized in 3. Same train of thought applied here by taking Reboot Vergil and iterating on it into 4SE. Even many of the reboots design philosophies were put into 5.
You mean the sheathed Yamato sharp edge pointed up? There is a history about that, but I don't know much about how historical samurais hold their swords Hell..! Even Vergil in 5 hold it the same way reboot did
@@miairuha Vergil uses Iaijutsu, where the sword is often sheated with the blade pointing up. So in 4 he technically is holding it in an unusual way. That said, the reason it's kept with the sharp edge up is to not have the edge dull, but Yamato is a demonic weapon with an infinitely sharp edge, so it doesn't really matter.
I like that Capcom took the high road and actually incorporated a lot of DMC Vergil’s move set into the old Vergil. Even has his helmbreaker and devil trigger in DMC5
@@addmealready DMC 5 SE didn't come out yet. And comparing this to boss is meaningless. Boss Vergil is weak in DMC 5 vanilla. So to compare we need to see him at his finest (DMC 5 SE).
Though i don't like DmC that much, i gotta admit the devs did a pretty good job in the movesets. It kinda served as a base for DMC4SE and DMC5. Yeah, they look underwhelming in the DmC, but once refined, became fine moves in the next two games.
The Reboot animations aren't bad, but the animations from DMC4 just work way better for a character action game, they are snappy, fast, precise, nothing is overanimated etc. The reboot has the "style over substance" problem which a lot of action games have these days.
Style over substance is a term that best describes the Devil May Cry franchise as a whole. Especially when it comes to the consistency of storytelling.

@@mrngstrxxx4566 you are just wrong. In actuality, before the reboot, in DMC3, Vergil had only one 3 move combo, only one mid-air combo, which basically had only two vertical slashes (now both his combos are 3 move combos, just like in DmC) forward slash didn't have the rotating finishing move (which he now has, also thanks to DmC). The only combo DMC3 vergil has that later versions don't have is upper slash and downward slash follow up, which is a shame. DMC4 SE has A LOT of moves taken from the reboot that just didn't exist in DMC3.
The only thing that I like about DmC is about them being a legendary race 'Nephilim' and with the angels also around means the world become more wider demon world, heaven and human world. This actually a good game IF you just dont think this as a DMC
That's actually one of the things I didn't like, mostly because it removed Dante and Vergil's humanity, thus killing almost the entire reason Devil May Cry's story exists. Vergil threw away his humanity, his emotions and empathy, in his pursuit for more power. Dante held onto his humanity as hard as he could, shedding some tears for the brother he thought was now dead. If you take away that human aspect, the story loses everything that made it work.
I see people talking about how vergil's attacks lack impact in the reboot , but they're actually wrong . All combos showed in the video are being made outside fights . In the reboot , the combat brutality ( both visuals and sound effects ) only appear when actually hitting ennemies . That's really a shame he didn't showcased the combos in training mode or vs some mobs so you can clearly see the difference , Impacts and camera feedback are actually better in the reboot seriously , they are even better than the DMC 5 ones . Also ninja theory wanted to reflect dante and vergil opposed philosophies into their fighting styles . Dante (in the base game ) is a brutal brawler . It's basically hit hit hit , hack and slash , bam they're dead . Large sword movements , no discipline and pretty straightforward combos . Vergil on the other hand has a more "strategic" approach , and actually need more combo skill to litterally juggle with his ennemies while giving an infinity of quick small damage hits ( especially mid-air combos , they are so satisfying ) . People really want to hate this reboot while keeping focused on what they don't like ( even if they don't even know ) rather than approve what ninja theory did right .
they already did the different fighting styles in dmc 3, dante having the more brutal attacks (as his combos have a type of cancel that you get by literally mashing the hell out of the attack button) and vergil's being more focused and none of his attacks is masheable, even the judgement cut needs proper timming to do the follow ups. its just in 4 that vergil is much more brutal and they gave him a lot of moves from dante that dont really fit him (like kick 13)
Personally i think everyone wanted DMC5 instead of the reboot and are pissy from that, even though the reboot is a different company than the base game series is. Besides i know a lot of idiots that when proven wrong stubbornly repeat their idea is right even if it involves the equivalent of grabbing a live wire to stop the sparks from touching the ground.. DmC is its own take on DMC saga and has its up (visuals, combo supremacy for a SINGLE weapon, Mobility focus in a fight instead of anime punch-them-back-harder to exploit weak points and them having their literal back to you...) and downs (some improper stances and lack of mmph, limited weapons, enemies randomly entering their own Devil Trigger... (Rage/White Cats are especially annoying when they drop out and immediately re-enter it when you go to parry them... six times in a row finally Perfect Sliced them to death...) vergil not seemingly able to keep up with OG Vergil when beaten six ways till sunday compared to a fresh spring chicken...) but as i was saying Fan expecting a game still in development vs a reboot of the saga... had both came out with DmC mentioning "Experience this alternate tale of the thrilling DmC experience, through a different lense not focused on extreme fighting but on strategic fighting instead" alongside their original statements regarding the game, well it would have been a lot more acceptable to die-hard fans, especially if they learned in fights vs out of fights is signifigantly different thant the original game... But as you said, most might not even know and just stumbled on this game and rolled with the "Loudest sheep leads the flock" sickening mentality that seems to prevail over forming own opinions... and focusing on dislikes to the point of seeing a single corner compared to the full painting....

I really like the little spin projectile
Helm Breaker: DmC again. I think the actual animation looks snappier, and the little behind the back sheathing is fucking amazing. Also how OG's snaps to his hip, and to his hand is very very annoying.

Vergil threw away his humanity, his emotions and empathy, in his pursuit for more power. Dante held onto his humanity as hard as he could, shedding some tears for the brother he thought was now dead. If you take away that human aspect, the story loses everything that made it work.
Do another comparison when Vergil comes out for DmC 5!
@@AlynRapi Yeah, instead of giving 5, because Capcom mess up big time by botching DMC4 development cycle, they instead give unnecessary reboot.
Fans has the right to be pissed.
That Judgement Cut tho.
Virgin's first space slash cut vs Chad 2fast4Uboie
3:29 the reboot one lol😂
Ikr
Reboot Vergil is a snail in comparison
2:22 DmC Vergil sounds like he creamed his pants
DmC vergil swordsman was admiral however that judgement cut was foolish
Vorgil actually holds his saya the right way impressive
2:09 Why does it sound like DMC Vergil Ripped one during his swing...?
I didn't even know Vergil was in DMC
People who I bet haven't played the reboot vergil are like dmc4 vergil dmc4 vergil, but honestly dmc4 vergil is too overpowered to be fun while reboot vergil is honestly more balanced and fun I just enjoyed playing him much more. The reboot in general is just a better game than 4.
Agree to Disagree, though tbh 4 has better characters but both are unfinished or not great games.
人間味が増したよね、いや結局人間離れはしてるんだけど
I just want to say comparing these two characters is apples to oranges. They have different backgrounds and ideologies that happened to have the same name and color scheme
DMC4 Vergil is a well trained artist with Yamato who clearly cares about the blade-- it *means* something to him.
Meanwhile DmC Vergil is a fledgling villan who sees Yamato as a tool for his cause because of his inferiority complex-- he shows this by slamming the blade shut instead of how DMC Vergil calmly sheaths it with a gleam-- and that's it. It's been his character since the beginning
DmC is not a bad game guys
So then explain DMC5 where he also slams the blade and also has an inferiority complex?
I'm glad they took some attacks from DmC Vergil's move list and added them to Vergil in DMC 4 SE and 5
God that snap animation of him sheathing the sword in DmC is so bad its like they couldn't be arsed to animate the rest of it, basically sums up the whole game being a giant half arsed mess
Half aced is not at all how I would describe the reboot. DMC 4 on the the other hand...
Any way, what's so bad about it? Aside from what looks to be a small clipping issue, it all flows together well.
Watch the DmC vergil just keep on smashing his yamato into the sheath just makes me wanna actually overdose on vitamin gummys.
Everyone complaining dmc animation is worse but I bet they did it on purpose. If Dante is younger in dmc, Vergil is too. Plus I bet he didn't think Dante would side with the humans, so the dmc one more conflicted. If they made another one, I bet dmc Vergil animations would get better as he grow up.
That makes no sense dude, in dmc3 both were young as fuck and their animations were cool.
Reboot just executed them wrong.
Dmc 4 is such a beautiful game
DmC Vergil: watch where you're swinging that thing
DMC4 Vergil: please don't kill me
Dmc4 looks better in my opinion. Think the screen shake adds a little more dynamic and impact. How he sheath Yamato that animation just sells that confidence he had with his sword so well. I love that details cuz it brings out the Vergil it needs to be.
LMAO DmC already had those one who had shaking camera when hitting hard, and also this game came 2013 along with Vergil's DLC,
DMC4SE pretty late, this DLC came 2015, and CapCom get this Idea from Reboot.
The thing I like about DmC Vergil better is his design and how elegant his animations are. But OG Vergil got more "oomph" with the screenshake if ya know what I'm sayin...
Do a DmC / DMC5 Vergil comparisin vid
Me: “Mom, can we get dmc5?”
Mom: “We already have dmc5 at home”
Dmc5 at home:
That's not very funny at all
@@Bthakilla4rilla Yeah the joke doesn't even make sense.
Technically true... DmC is the "fifth" installment but is a separate/standalone release(hopefully for now only a starter game, with sequel in the works to take a different take on the saga even more)
The best thing about Reboot Vergil was its doppelganger it had 4 different modes 2 in Angelic 2 in Demonic (only best thing) cloths design was cool too.... but that just me.
DmC Vergil not Motivated during the combo
Like it or not the reboot has one of the best environment concept in the series, though i prefer the story and combat of the original...
While i did love the designs, concepts, and environments, I've got to say that they definitely don't beat the legendary gothic environments of the originals.
DMC4 Vergil: Vergil from the game.
DmC Vergil: cosplayer.
Got the two mixed up
😂didnt have time to make Vergil's costume so went with whatever they could find at a hobby clothing store = DmC Vergil at a con.
@@LVL5esper
Doesn't really make sense.
@@m.a.k.dynasty4504 con = convention. Basically what I was saying was a cosplayer not having enough time/money to get the outfit right so they went and got whatever matched closest to original Vergil's outfit which results in the creation of Ninja Theory's DmC Vergil.
DMC5 Vergil got the Yamato Helm Breaker from DmC

I personally think that reboot Vergil moves a bit lighter therefore quicker than og Vergil but og Vergil pretty much has him beat in every other category
