    I have a Twintech 1500 and it is the first CaRx I have had. It was easy to set up and as Jake says it works straight out of the box. I am actually using it alongside Triton dosing, to reduce the amount of Triton juice Im using. So far it is working very well.

  • @CLOWNFISH69
    @CLOWNFISH69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You get what you pay for! Just hooked up my Twin Tech 1500 and it is quiet. All that you said, I can totally agree with and when your done with initial setup you realize how easy it is. It was fortunate enough to witness the degassing process of this reactor. Mind blowing to see this thing that automated. Lowest setting at 3 and stable 9.24-9.26.

    Outstanding review and overview. I want one even more now!
    I'd like to know a bit more about the type of regulator you used. Psi, bubble count and solenoid connection.

    • @ReefBuildersVideo
      @ReefBuildersVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      just a cheap-o mini regulator, for this type of reactor it's enough since the Solenoid is precisely controlled by the float switch

    The mother of commercial calcium reactors was the knop model c. And I was the one who bring them on the us market 1996! This Modell, OK without all that technic stuff, I have had for 6 month. You need 2 persons to open that mess because of a Vakuum. And the important point.. The flow inside is so minor that the output of CA and kh is much less than a schuran Jetstream.. For example will produce.

    How does it do with Display pH? You used to run Kalk? Are you still using it?

    • @ReefBuildersVideo
      @ReefBuildersVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These are very efficient at using CO2 and so don’t impact the 500 gallon volume like a typical reactor, and yes still dose kalk to keep pH high

    • @ReefBuildersVideo
      @ReefBuildersVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be honest, I haven't done my due diligence with this reactor to test the effluent alk or pH, since it's kept up with the demand, but I will get there out of curiosity.

      Like most things we consume i myself would bet that it has its own impact.

    • @SteHughes90
      @SteHughes90 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can be washed up in beach gravel, they might be removed from sand which is harvested for building or other industries, the might be dead corals from imports that didn't make it or collectors which harvested damaged/unsellable coral.

    • @lamont22222
      @lamont22222 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are collected from all the tank crashes.

    • @danmatherlee136
      @danmatherlee136 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I have seen diving and considering the few people actually in the hobbie I doubt we could ever make a difference in the supply. Crushed coral is naturally occurring in the caribbean, it's just large sand or small rocks. There are spots I dive in the florida keys that have vast amounts of watercress alga leaves that would work better in calcium reactors than coral and a lot more sustainable than slow growing coral.

    Hello Jake. Just saying thanks for the videos you produce, enjoy them. Just one down side. You cause me to go spending more and more money on corals, and they aren't cheap this side of the World. Should be saving my money for the hospital bills that are sure to come. You know how it is with those over 65 :-)

      What CO2 regulator do you use for this? I can’t find one without a selinoid. What one did you use. Want to buy this reactor but want all the parts lined up first.

  • @DiepBlueC
    @DiepBlueC 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use that prefilter and post filter and I have to replace the post-filter once every 6 months or so as it gets scummy, they are really cheap though.

  • @Mike__B
    @Mike__B 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Release date on this? Looking around I see preorder price in Euros, 1300 (yikes!) however feed pump, solenoid to control it so you don't need an electronic CO2 switch, might make the price a bit more reasonable when you add that stuff in with a regular CaRx. Thanks for sharing. And I'm sorry but over your right shoulder I just couldn't stop looking at that tank with the beam of sunlight zapping in there, now THAT is the way I want to see corals! I get something similar through a door's window but only for like 30 minutes in the morning when the sun is low at the right times of the year.

    • @ReefBuildersVideo
      @ReefBuildersVideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know the exact release date but should be confirmed by the time MACNA rolls around. On another note, the solar beam SEEMS like a good idea but in my case its a bigger area and for longer so I've had to cover up the windows to reduce algae and moderate bleaching.

  • @mikeyfish5655

    Question, I have been a successful reefer for years but one issue I always get to is the demand of minerals. With a calcium reactor, how would you keep the tanks pH at an ideal range if the calcium reactor is constantly dripping low pH?
