This talk about ruzzian territorial gains gets so tiresome. Some people are apparently not capable of putting things into perspective. Ukraine has a land area of 608 000 km². In 2024 so far, ruzzia has gained less than 600 km². That is *ONE THOUSANDTH !!!!* of the Ukrainian territory! While in 2024 loosing more than 300 000 personnel, and all the incredible amount of equipment that goes with it, they have managed to gain less than one thousandth of Ukraine. At the same time, this year, Ukraine has brought the war to ruzzia proper, severly impacted its economy, destroyed a considerable amount of ruzzias most important asset, refineries, and now began to hit vast amounts of its military depots. Yes, it is very hard for Ukraine at the moment, and only because of our Western lack of acting as we should, and, mark this, also could! But it is at least as hard for the ruzzians. It is the deliberate current strategy of Ukraine to preserve lives and equipment by giving slowly up some miniscule amount of territory when it becomes too costly to withstand for the next treeline, the next little village. China is having serious issues and Xi is making a bad bet on Putin because china cannot afford to get hit with heavy western sanctions.

Not that simple. The countries build weapons to be stored and be in working order for 20+ years. They are overengineered and require special factories. Ukraine does not need that quality (in the beginning) and storability.

Pro-Ukraine Americans need to always stress two very important points 1. This money is being spent in the USA, it is employing US workers to build this stuff. In fact, if you consider income taxes that will come back next year, this is actually like 20% less than the announced amount. And when you consider those workers will be spending the money in the USA, even more of it will come back in taxes. 2. For the past 70 years, the USA has been spending about half of our defense budget specifically to counter Russia. that is $400 billion dollars per year. With the Russian army being destroyed by Ukraine, we can now shift our defense budget to counter China better, and on things like climate change, natural disaster protection etc. We spend $400billion a year for decades, and for a one time payment of $100 billion, we have destroyed Russia. It will never happen, but you could even make the argument that we could substantially decrease our defense spending because our biggest adversary is now impotent.
The problem with this is people like me and lots of others would rather see that money go towards things that would improve our lives I doubt most people look at our defense budget and go it needs to increase we are going to spend 886 billion dollars this year alone that’s not including the 60 billion we are going to spend to help Ukraine why not spend the money on infrastructure, education, and housing this would also create jobs and help out the average American more than aiding Ukraine second you saying helping Ukraine defeat Russia is going to allow us to cut defense spending that would make some of our defense companies have to cut some employees which would defeat the first purpose you made as to why we should help Ukraine.

Our politics is such that even if Russia and China both exploded, no politician would try to cut our defense spending. To be, there is even far bigger news than this in favor of Ukraine this week. Everybody always focuses on the bombs and airplanes and other military hardware. But what about the money? Nobody can fund a war without money. Russia is running out of money very quickly, but they can always sell bonds, right? they’ve been selling bonds for the last couple of years to fund the war. They’ve been selling them quarterly and the last quarter of this year were they sold bonds they were only able to sell about 1/3 of them that were offered. During other quarters they were able to sell as much as 100% of them. This is a financial disaster which states that nobody wants to buy rubles and nobody trust that Russia will actually pay off the bonds. For me, I’ve been following this war for over two years since the beginning and this is the best news that I’ve ever heard.

Why wouldn't Russua make gains against Ukraine? 1) they started to increase their stockpile of munitions, and equipment, and war machines since at least since 2008. August 2008 was the Russo-Georgian War. The reaction from the West was weak sonthat signaled to putin that russian aggression would not suffer strong reactions from the west. Green light for future aggreasion. 2) pootin created the Russian National Wealth Fund in 2008 so he knew he needed money to back his economy after an invasion of Ukraine 3) In 2008 (until 2014), pootin started to convert his navy for nuclear strikes on NATO in case of a war. 4. Pootin started building military infrastructure and bases near Ukraine's border since at least 2015, like the one outside Soloti. So the russians had over a decade to prepare for the war while Ukraine thought an invasion was unlikely. Over a decade to prepare? Advantage russia.
Putin has been preparing for war for more than a decade, so you would think that would give Russia a huge advantage. However, Putin is a corrupt Russian mafia thug, and his corruption has spread through the entire government, including the military, and this has crippled Russia. Pro-Ukraine Americans need to always stress two very important points
1. This money is being spent in the USA, it is employing US workers to build this stuff. In fact, if you consider income taxes that will come back next year, this is actually like 20% less than the announced amount. And when you consider those workers will be spending the money in the USA, even more of it will come back in taxes.
2. For the past 70 years, the USA has been spending about half of our defense budget specifically to counter Russia. that is $400 billion dollars per year. With the Russian army being destroyed by Ukraine, we can now shift our defense budget to counter China better, and on things like climate change, natural disaster protection etc. We spend $400billion a year for decades, and for a one time payment of $100 billion, we have destroyed Russia. It will never happen, but you could even make the argument that we could substantially decrease our defense spending because our biggest adversary is now impotent.
The problem with this is people like me and lots of others would rather see that money go towards things that would improve our lives I doubt most people look at our defense budget and go it needs to increase we are going to spend 886 billion dollars this year alone that’s not including the 60 billion we are going to spend to help Ukraine why not spend the money on infrastructure, education, and housing this would also create jobs and help out the average American more than aiding Ukraine second you saying helping Ukraine defeat Russia is going to allow us to cut defense spending that would make some of our defense companies have to cut some employees which would defeat the first purpose you made as to why we should help Ukraine.

Our politics is such that even if Russia and China both exploded, no politician would try to cut our defense spending. I wish we could cut our defense budget and spend more on education and infrastructure... but we both know that isn't going to happen.

To be, there is even far bigger news than this in favor of Ukraine this week. Everybody always focuses on the bombs and airplanes and other military hardware. But what about the money? Nobody can fund a war without money. Russia is running out of money very quickly, but they can always sell bonds, right? they’ve been selling bonds for the last couple of years to fund the war. They’ve been selling them quarterly and the last quarter of this year were they sold bonds they were only able to sell about 1/3 of them that were offered. During other quarters they were able to sell as much as 100% of them. This is a financial disaster which states that nobody wants to buy rubles and nobody trust that Russia will actually pay off the bonds. For me, I’ve been following this war for over two years since the beginning and this is the best news that I’ve ever heard.

Yes, 100% correct. Ukraine is doing an amazing job defending against the massive army and resources that Russia has. Why wouldn't Russua make gains against Ukraine?
1) they started to increase their stockpile of munitions, and equipment, and war machines since at least since 2008. August 2008 was the Russo-Georgian War. The reaction from the West was weak sonthat signaled to putin that russian aggression would not suffer strong reactions from the west. Green light for future aggreasion.
2) pootin created the Russian National Wealth Fund in 2008 so he knew he needed money to back his economy after an invasion of Ukraine
3) In 2008 (until 2014), pootin started to convert his navy for nuclear strikes on NATO in case of a war.
4. Pootin started building military infrastructure and bases near Ukraine's border since at least 2015, like the one outside Soloti.
So the russians had over a decade to prepare for the war while Ukraine thought an invasion was unlikely. Over a decade to prepare? Advantage russia.
Putin has been preparing for war for more than a decade, so you would think that would give Russia a huge advantage. However, Putin is a corrupt Russian mafia thug, and his corruption has spread through the entire government, including the military, and this has crippled Russia. Money that should have been spent on weapons upgrades or military training was stolen by corrupt generals to buy dachas on the Black Sea. Russian soldiers are poorly trained and poorly armed, and there is nothing that Putin can do about it.
That's not to say that there is no corruption in Ukraine. There is corruption everywhere, but it's not nearly as bad in Ukraine as it is in Russia. Also, the Ukrainians know that Putin wants to destroy their culture, their language, and their entire population. Threat of extinction is a powerful motivator, and Ukrainian troops have been trained by the west in the most modern battle tactics. If we supply the Ukrainians with the weapons they need, they will defeat Russia. Слава Україні! 🇺🇦
