If hes not using a cheat code to disable EXP, hes deliberately using an Emulator or a Flashcart that triggers this, though I cant imagine exactly what, modern emulators and flashcarts dont trigger this and dont even need a patch to avoid the anti-piracy (older flashcarts needed a Patch code or a direct ROM patch to evade the anti-piracy)
@@PaladinYT HGSS also have an AP that causes the pokeball icons before you throw out to spin indefinitely, softlocking you, but Ive legitimately never seen this, pretty much nothing triggers it, its possible it affected only the oldest R4s and such.

You could probably just change one of the filler bits to achieve this, or change a random encounter
i have a difficulty mod for white 2(volt white 2) and it has an option to disable exp under the key menu. don't know if that was added for the mod, or is a default thing black white 2 has.

There was something really cathartic about finally hearing someone address staged Pokemon Showdown sweep videos. I can’t speak on the legitimacy of temp6t videos (some seem fake but he has streamed things before and the chat dialogue is (at the very least) more realistic), but there are tons of clones of temp6t himself who pump out these absolutely cringeworthy staged videos. Someone who was introduced to Showdown through these clones’ videos couldn’t be blamed for assuming that everyone on low ladder AG wrote strangely coherent essays punctuating every turn. I finally saw people calling out the staging on a TH-cam short a couple months ago and it’s nice to finally hear a more definitive call-out. Great video by the way

As to the way Pimpnite does things, I can attest that by the mid 2010s it seemed legit, battling random people on discord, including myself a couple times. I was in his Hyper beam team video. He basically just keeps battling randoms until the strategy works, usually against kids that got shiny legends from wondertrade, but sometimes against comedy/surprise sets (Marowak as a special defensive wall with belly drum, defensive wall floatzel with switcheroo and burn orb, special defensive Electvire with barrier and power-up punch)
whaaaaat. Dude I had to grind through it all with one weirdly trained Eevee with all those special tutor moves (Bouncing Bubble, etc.) and a ton of items and my little sis had the audacity to still try and backseat after asking for help 🙄

Also, Politoed is a trade evolution, and Poliwhirl evolves from Poliwag at level 25, meaning that Paladin did some MAJOR errors
