What many people of Tacoma knew was that Harold Lemay shared his passion yearly by inviting friends and friends of friends to drive his cars on special days of the year. How many museums would ever let the average car lover drive their cars. None that I know of. He was a very unique man with a passion for cars. I lived in Tacoma and often went to his small Spanaway shop and watched some of the restoration on a few cars. I would look at the cars stored in the yard and say, "If I had that one or that one" I would do this or that to it. I doubt that there will ever be such a generous or happy man that wants to share his passion of saving cars ever again. To Harold's family, "Thanks for trying to preserve the passion and the collection". :) :)
I learned a long time ago when I owned 38 cars, you don't own them, they own you. I cannot fathom 3,000. I met some people from this group at Irwindale raceway quite a few years ago when they were showing the model of the museum and had a nice talk about some cars, but I had no idea they had that many cars. The logistics of that many cars is a massive undertaking.
@@davidjoles9737 Yeah... it WAS 3000 before they sold some off for the museum, and then split up more for one SHARED museum, and now this more manageable museum which is NOT shared.

B.S.! Museums are where cars go to DIE. A car that doesn't/can't/isn't driven...isn't really a car anymore, just like a plane that doesn't fly, or a boat that's not seaworthy. Keep 'em running!
Been there.....awesome. Mr. LeMay was a fine American. Started with one garbage truck ended up with an empire. I started with one pick up truck and now have nine whiny workers.
the business makes 100mil a year and Jamie asks if his widow ever said enough, we can use that money for a holiday?? errr I think he can just about afford both.

Really game changer man...lots of respect..his mother couldn't afford to take care of him due to financial c implications..when he grew up..he bought a whole school and 19 properties...
The collection at Marymount is probably my favorite car museum. I'm not sure I would even call it a museum since these cars are mostly in a non restored, daily driver condition. To me it gives them more character. The tour guides have a story about every car in there. Just amazing.
I did a bit of digging and found the uncut version here archive.org/details/FOXNEWSW_20150323_000000_FOX_News_Special/start/0/end/60 it's in segments which is a bit annoying but you can't win'em all I guess...
If it wasn't for this man and his wonderful method of madness there would never be this amount of old cars out there that would of survived it's fantastic to see such a collection
Wait so the collection is at the house? Or maybe it moved. I been to the musseum and later saw the collection place and I thought it was something like a warehouse type thing
Well, I'm sure others have said a museum which I totally agree. Also, you could pick one car every day and charge people to drive them around in it. Each day, different car and make a schedule ahead of time. Also, you could drive people in a wedding, the married couple. Plenty of ways to make money, but I'm sure it's easier said than done. I'm sure some people in the family are tired of it though. I just hope that if they sell it or already have sold it that they picked someone who would buy the whole lot and keep it going. That's a lot of amazing work that man put in and what a cool thing to inherit!
+chillyfingers123 Jay has admit to that,in fact,I think he has 150,and people he knows park their collectible in the room contro;lled hangar, pardon me garage,,and he invites people with cars showcased on his show,Jay knows about cars and he likes them original
This is almost as nice as a car museum. Wow this is so awesome. Hard to choose which car is nice, they all are sweet looking cars. I like to see the collection of these cars do a little tour seeing them
I'm 55 and have owned 30 cars and a truck . After seeing this , I wish I could've kept each one . But in reality I was trying to enjoy and drive another , with vision's of unrealistic goals . My , Brother a mechanic told me , that my eyes were bigger than my wallet . I knew he was right . Today I wish , that I had n't made so many poor choices . But after all Isn't that there all about ?
I also think you should open a car museum. Safe the best car's so that his name will live for ever. The rest that is dubble or even tribbeled, sell them of and donate the money to charity. Help helping .
Harold did exactly what i would do if i had money, save as many as i could and try to find them a good home. Shit makes me sad to see them going to waste...
I think the collection should be sold off to collectors or museums. Maintaining it is a pain in the ass and if the kids don't enjoy cars as much - it's just a waste
Uhhum.. Now that I have composed myself, I have to say WOW ! and well done to that gentleman. I am in complete awe of his wonderful wisdom and vision to conserve those beautiful cars for the future generations. Hope he left enough cash to keep maintaining them otherwise this whole deal would be compromised. Good luck to the beneficiaries.
lots of people do that about passed loved ones possessions, they don't want to " dishonor" their dead loved one by getting rid of stuff. But I'm Christian, I think people go to better place and get better stuff and they couldn't care less about the stuff they left behind. Watching American Pickers once a woman was joking about her husband and his massive collection, I couldn't agree with her more, she said " yup the funeral will be at 11AM and the Auction starts at 1:00" That's the right idea.
OMG! I got to visit the Lemay ACM Museum several times, and I've seen the Family Collection in Marymount. But considering how many cars he and the family may have collection, I doubt that I've seen everything. Like Harold LeMay, I'm *passionate* about cars, trucks, and anything on wheels. I'd prefer to drive a car than eat. Unlike LeMay, I don't have a collection of cars.
Personally, while I think everyone should get to see these cars, I think every one of them should be driven, not just sitting in a museum static display. After all, that's what they were meant to do, not just sit I know from experience that just sitting for long periods of time is actually harder on cars than being driven moderately. Of course, with these very rare pieces, you would not want to drive them on public streets, but seems to me at least at the second museum having a safe place to drive them is not a major issue.
I wonder how he felt about people who go out clubbing all night, do they hair and nails twice a week, get up when the sun is high, wear hoodies and saggy pants, live off the govt, have gansta names, kneel and protest about that oppression.

300 cars not 3,000
@@davidjoles9737
Yeah... it WAS 3000 before they sold some off for the museum, and then split up more for one SHARED museum, and now this more manageable museum which is NOT shared.
should build a huge car museum, and put all his cars in it so everyone can enjoy them too
they do have a museum! it's called "the Lemay American car Musem" I've been there! located in Tacoma, Washington

"Son, I can't afford to raise you; you're going to live with some strangers who can." How d'ya think that would fly, nowadays?
Been there.....awesome.
Mr. LeMay was a fine American.
Started with one garbage truck ended up with an empire.
I started with one pick up truck and now have nine whiny workers.
the business makes 100mil a year and Jamie asks if his widow ever said enough, we can use that money for a holiday?? errr I think he can just about afford both.
you here his kid talking about what they are going to to about this burden! fuck I'll take the cars if it's such a burden for you lol
+WiseGuy02 The business makes 100mil a year, doesn't mean they do. But I'm sure you're still right, they're doing good enough to afford both.
Reporters are dumb.
WiseGuy02 That man was more man then any man today.
I thought the same thing the moment she said that.... the rich are different from the rest
It’s so comforting to me to see you staring at the camera more than the road while you’re driving.

“He went to a wrecking yard auction in Idaho, bought the whole wrecking yard.” That’s one way to get a hell of a lot of cars!
Or junk!
Nice headlights on Jamie.
And hooters, , , , , , , , !

cyuiyu wyguiyui that man collected now vintage cars. Before collecting vintage cars was a thing.
Yep.... now there’s a burden I’m willing to carry!!!

I Wouldn't want to see a family so terribly burdened by this collection so if your nice I'll look after it for ya..
right--they could sell ONE car a year--and that's their living income for a year.
tough job, but somebody has got to do it.....
Oh yeah we can definitely look after this collection together as a team! They can just leave all the keys with us and we'll take care of them.
Shaun McInnis I wouldn’t mind either.

I like to see these cars on the road, maybe weekends on backroads. Those are nice driving cars unlike todays cars.
Gosh I would truly enjoy a chance to purchase the White 1967 Shelby Mustang! At 58 it's still my life long dream!
Is there more to this? I just finished this video, is there a part two?

I live near Tacoma so I've been to that museum a couple of time. If you are in the area it's well worth the visit. You won't be disappointed.
I would be so proud to show it off and say it was my dads work... I love my father .

That Packard matches your dress . . . SOLD!
What an amazing legacy he left! They should create a museum in his honor or even contact the Smithsonian or the Henry Ford.
Oh WOW what an Amazing Collection

Better than money in the bank! At least he enjoyed the cars he bought and he got a great deal of satisfaction in saving them and preserving them.

Either set up a museum so everyone can enjoy them or sell them off so other people can adore them the same way his father did.
My dad had every Cadillac from 1950-1966
👏👏 good for him👍
My dream car was an old packer.Could never afford one doubt that there are other cars that are simply beautiful
Great!! Save those Old Beauties!!
I saw that collection about 7 years ago it was awesome.
I met Mr Lemay at Turlock and Pleasanton Cal auto shows. He bought a few cars and lots of parts from me RIP !!!
i would settle for a couple of the junk cars they have out in the field.
Heck parts scattered in the scrap piles at a place like that
She is a lovely woman, amazing car collection. I would enjoy seeing more of both.
I don't know whys this in my Recommended. But i admire the man who owns that alot of Cars!! ♥️♥️👌🏼👌🏼
This is almost as nice as a car museum. Wow this is so awesome. Hard to choose which car is nice, they all are sweet looking cars. I like to see the collection of these cars do a little tour seeing them
There r no words to describe how i feel looking at this collection
I clearly heard Jamie Colby and Doug Lemay say the collection has 300 cars, BUT the title says 3000, that's a huge discrepancy!!!
+jadesluv 300 cars in the garage by the house. That is why he brought 50 more properties and the school!
Nice collection, 1:44, you see him checking out her. !!!!
Heath Cox Lol!!!! Yeah, he's definitely looking at something besides the cars!!!!
Nice collection hope they are restored exactly the same as once they were.
God Bless this Man❗
There's a dyed-in-the-wool , down to his soul , natural-born CAR GUY O:-)
Been to the main Museum and is a must for car People!
anyone know where I can watch the rest of the video?
I'm not super big on cars but got I love seeing classics... If I could one car I just want it to be a classic of some sort
Where is the rest of the story?
Incredible! What a neat story and a great collection. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, build a car museum so can share with everyone and also the generation who love the car. 😀👍👍👍
I mean new generation who love the car. 😀
Emon Arema Where and can it be any kind of car put in museum? THANKS
Wtf it just stops? I want to hear he rest of the story.
Old cars are beautiful.
They simply are
I was getting so intrigued.. Then it cuts off darn. What cars I did get to see I loved THEM...❤❤
Mr. Lemay had some beautiful cars there I’ve been there a bunch of times it’s a heck of a museum
Long live the classics!!!

360p resolution? Surely it was shot in at least 480 for analog TV.
So who uploaded this with reduced resolution and why?

That Ford is a Beauty!😎👍🖤⭐️🕊🦋🕊🙏✌️🎉🇺🇸 Thanks for sharing!🙏✌️🎉🇺🇸🌅
1963 Plymouth fury wagon ...any in the collection?
Maybe Jay Leno can help him out you see today i am just interested in just one car and that is a Bugatti,Cheron and one Swiss girl
It was all based on the separation from his mother, the car collecting was a subconscious effort to have his mom back.

Orange does you well Jamie! Wow!
Sorry guys, but i was fully occupied watching the most favorable orange / yellow dressed female model with the Brand of AMY...
@Hello Ronald how are you doing?
Are you planning to sale some of the cars?
wonderful collection
I'd love to inherit Jamie Colby!😁
Amazing, so amazing.
I can use Harold as an example to my wife that 7 cars is kids play! :) Cool collection!
Call Sotheby’s and auction them off (after picking out a few personal keepers, of course!)
Instead of stock, real estate etc. he apparently invested in cars. It seems to have worked out well for him and his family.

My dream car was in the background. 1967 Shelby
God Bless You Harold The Car Saver.
where is the rest of the show
