That was a sweet deal. You take the parts off what you need. Keep a few spares like wheels and mirrors. Sell the doors and interior you dont need. And sell the rest for scrap. You fixed your nan's car and could even make some money.
I don’t really have time to strip and sell/keep parts. And I didn’t have the space to keep the jazz too long. So I just took what I needed and sold it.
Really admire your efforts, but using a wooden block when hammering damage prevents more damage. Why did you not swap over the rear bumpers to minimise the visible damage? Good effort on the front door but there is a visible colour difference and panel gap issue on the leading edge. Still you saved a heap of money do good on you👍

Nice fix mate, definite stroke of luck with that rubbing strip have known some manufacturers to have holes in the doors for mounting those. Cars looking great bet your nan was pleased👍
@@SavingSalvage next time you do this could you please show us in detail how to do this swapping over the locks from the damaged parts to the new one so the door boot etc would appreciate it.
Loving the videos! I recently bought a VW GOLF GTI from COPART in the UK, I'm uploading videos as you inspired me to try it out, some advice would be cool! :)
Loads of spare parts to keep your nans car going for a while there. Save the spare you may need the clutch or any other goodies off it and it was cheap so its worth saving.
Poor Nan. Well sorted, good vid. One q though how come didn't try wing mirror first and just change mirror cap? Why didn't you part it out to easily cover the £250 prob double in parts
It looked like the mirror glass had been ripped off and damaged the internal clips... so I just wanted to replace the whole mirror then there would be no issues. 👍🏽
Not a bad prince once you swap the stuff round on them and then take it back to a scrap yard or something easily get £150 - 200 back so all in all really £200 for repairs cheap as chips
150 boot lid from ebay and rear bumper 150max for repainting for that damage max 300. bumper nearly good so just leave it sooo not a bargain fix but if u calculate or spare parts u left with copart jazz u maybe recoup all money invested.
Im not that good with cars sadly. But if i want to give my lil car a polish, can i then use a eccentric polishing machine, with a soft polish sponge and some polish compound, straight after a wash? cheers
I did more of the same(ish) with my Vauxhall Astra. Someone I know had a wrecked one the same colour with a pretty much perfect body, so I swiped the bonnet, NSR door & NS mirror off that, replaced the damaged ones on my car & no-one's really any the wiser. Was that colour on the Jazz easy to find?
I feel like that dent is so common in Honda jazzes I have one just like it cos I wasn't used to the size of it and reversed onto a bollard like a mupper
I thought the idea of the auction was that if you win the bid that they are contractually obliged to sell you it for that price? Not that you win it and then they offer you some mad price because it didn't go for what they wanted lol
By the time you add in transport costs, time, inconvenience etc it would have been much better to go with the original quote you received and have the body shop repair the car
Essentially what I heard that if you buy one of those cars they are ridiculously cheap as only licensed breakers are allowed to bid on those cars, and you dont need the car delivered. You go to copart strip the parts off what you need then they dispose the remaining. The trouble is that not all copart site has the ability for that yet. What is your local site?
Not always ridiculously cheap. But in general they are cheaper. But you only get 1 day to get everything off that you want. Otherwise you have to pay loads for more time. And you need to bring all the tools with you.
delivery from copart is cheap but when they first took over universal salvage there delivery prices rocketed.i phoned and said well your lorries will be coming out empty as no ones gonna pay they prices for delivery..example was 50 plus vat to my address but went to 170 plus vat overnight..a month later they realised that the deliverys were paying for thier fuel for them collecting thier salvage for auctions
The gready fucker should have took your £350 and liked it, they dont go for alot repaired. It's more of a breaker than anything like what you got it for. I actually laughed when I saw the damage to your nan's motor. I thought it was caved in from how you was describing it and I wondered why you bought another car just for that little damage but for that money you definitely made the right choice and got a deal. The rear bumper needs realigning you can see it's not right on that left side dont be lazy lol
From experience, even having protected NCB makes no difference either. It's a con as they load up your policy more for the previous claim to compensate themselves.
Whats the point in bidding if its going to cost more than the bid? It should be what you bid is what you pay. Everyone should just not bother with copart and let them go out of business.
You've got to be so careful because alot of people will buy salvage twisted up cars and dress them up and resell them as a salvage with 'hardly any damage' 3rd party sellers are not to be fully trusted.
This guy must be getting a kickback from Copart, check out any review site and you will see for yourself, I bought a insignia witch was described as start and drive, and that was just the start of the lies so I entered it back into there auction and that was over a week ago and they have no details of my car and they will just put you on hold when you call and it’s a premium phone line so this will cost you a fortune just to call them, I’m now going to have to write off £1500
So because you bought a lemon it means I’m getting a kickback? I dislike copart like the rest of them. But unfortunately there’s not much choice out there. You have to be very careful when buying cars from there as they are always worse than described
Copart is shit, just over priced damaged cars, people buy a badly damaged car, makes it look a little better with some new parts and then resell it again through copart hiding the bad damage underneath and making look like an easy fix when you win the car and collect you find out you’ve been catfished
looks more like shes reversed into something
Sorry to hear about your nans rear end 😂Another good edit and very informative, excited to see the next RS3 video.
😂 Thankyou! I’m back at it again trying to paint 😬🙋🏼♂️
Got loads of adjustment in the rear bumpers on these, undo the 4 main bolts on the boot shut and move across to even the gap up.
I was thinking the same. There has to be some adjustment.
Great if you have the space to keep a wreck for the duration. Did you not consider changing the odd alloy on Nan's car? Really worthwhile doing .
That was a sweet deal. You take the parts off what you need. Keep a few spares like wheels and mirrors. Sell the doors and interior you dont need. And sell the rest for scrap. You fixed your nan's car and could even make some money.

Great job, good on you for looking after your Nan. I think you should give the Jazz a full valet before handing back the keys 👍
I did :)
go on ebay buy a rubber bumper protector for a tenner for the rear bumper!
You will be the favourite grandson , well done
Buy from HBC auctions for salvage, propper salvage cars
As the family IT guy I get asigned such tasks but for peoples computers.
I dint hear you mention the time that was spent fixing the car ,, because that is why the body shop charges so much, good video
You are going to do a touch up on the original bumper. I would have swapped bumpers, the scuffing easy to touch up the corner. Over all nice work.
Too many adverts for me unfortunately. Could have straightened the rear panel with a block of wood to limit damage.

You are never gonna get that back with a block of wood hahah the line is way to stretched to be repaired back to decent standard

Thankyou buddy! Yes she was! :)
You ought've filmed the big reveal! 😂

Same as an astra you gotta take door panel off for mirror connection
How much did the pickup truck cost to collect donor car? And your a good grandson
Have you not heard of The Uninsured Driver Fund which every insured driver pays into to cover something like this?
Fed up with Honda Jazz gearbox so happy birthday to Katie Melua 26th September 2019 she cheers me up
Just because Third Party drove off it doesn't mean you're NOT covered for RTA ...

Wow mate well done! any ideas on the music names here? You did a great job :)
Wonder if thats the one that rear ended your nan, got nice set of spare wheels/tires as well, great vid
hi pal was it easy enough to swap the locks over too ?
Yes mate very easy 👍🏽
@@SavingSalvage next time you do this could you please show us in detail how to do this swapping over the locks from the damaged parts to the new one so the door boot etc would appreciate it.

What about the rear parking sensors?
Big savings, savvy fixer, thanks for the upload.

Claim on insurance, biy it back and fix the front on the other one

Cheapest one I could find at the time is £300, just had another look and again £300 is the cheapest boot lid on eBay.
Well done 👍

My brain: Oh its a Honda Fi-
Video: Honda Jazz

The same piece of trim is missing on my car! I still don’t get why it has another name though
I think it would be better to swap all 4 doors for more protection for you nan.
How much time did it take in total? including the transportation of car from copart fuel etc
Interesting option to repair a car
I feel like that dent is so common in Honda jazzes I have one just like it cos I wasn't used to the size of it and reversed onto a bollard like a mupper
Wasn't used to the size of it?it's not like it's big.

Great video mate
But u never said abt the recovery truck charges from corpot yard to your place.
Free, I picked it up it was only 10 miles away
Defo loads of money in the donor car those tailgates are worth like 250 min ,rear lights 130-140 each crazy prices because they’re rare lol
oh well, too late its gone.. no wonder it sold 2 hours after I advertised it haha
Nice work
By the time you add in transport costs, time, inconvenience etc it would have been much better to go with the original quote you received and have the body shop repair the car
I have an Honda Fit and it looks exactly the same, what’s the difference?
Id never heard of Honda Fit before! No idea why it has a different name though haha
Saving Salvage I’m from Argentina, so maybe they gave it a different name here?
Honda Fit/jazz are pretty much the same car just different names for different markets 😀
Vale Conti same car but it’s called a jazz I’m the UK
Plainly Difficult cool to know! Thanks!
Did you try to find one of those Bid4Break car at copart?
Couldn’t find anything else. I think I was lucky to find one that’s damaged on the front end. In the right colour and age and at my local copart. 👍🏽
Essentially what I heard that if you buy one of those cars they are ridiculously cheap as only licensed breakers are allowed to bid on those cars, and you dont need the car delivered. You go to copart strip the parts off what you need then they dispose the remaining.

How do you collect a write-off like that? Do you have a dedicated transport truck with a winch?
Luckily my job is transporting cars, but 9/10 they will load your car onto your trailer with a forklift.. then it’s up to you to get it off.
couldn't you of just bought the parts you needed off of Ebay in the correct colour code?
I looked, only 2 on ebay both in wrong colour and both wanted £350
@@SavingSalvage are dang unlucky.
Thats a really nice thing to do 💛
Great work. I would have taken off the rubbing strips from the donor car and put them on your nan's to save you some future repairs!
Good choice 😉
The body shop would of sorted the bumper, so not such a bargain as you didn’t sort bumper
The copart car has no rear parking sensors.
Hes got a drill
Keep the window switches , they have a tendancy to carbon build , she might need it down the line
My bro made and accident he has Toyota and they told hil it will cost u 7000£to fix it.Is any one has solution to this issue plz ? thanks
The bidding sounds messed up .....You win the bid then the sella starts to negotiate a new price ?
If you don't meet the minimum bid yes
You could of bought parts cheaply from a salvage part yards
I did, they were attached to a whole car haha
Say hello to your new subscriber ... (i just subscribed)
Tesla batteries being nicked from cars and resold through copart without the battery that’s £20k
I would have bought a new boot 😂

How much was the delivery
Free, as I collected it 😃
delivery from copart is cheap but when they first took over universal salvage there delivery prices rocketed.i phoned and said well your lorries will be coming out empty as no ones gonna pay they prices for delivery..example was 50 plus vat to my address but went to 170 plus vat overnight..a month later they realised that the deliverys were paying for thier fuel for them collecting thier salvage for auctions

I collected it, I have a transporter 👍🏽
I hope the 150 was a deposit and not the total sale price .
Sale price im afraid haha

I can see who's Nans favourite!
Boots on the wonk massive gap one side
I can't imagine your standard Jazz owner driving fast enough to do that much damage to the front end. How strange
Couldn’t she have just paid the excess on her insurance?
Excess was £450 and then it would of cost her about £100 per year for the next 5 years due to claim and loss of NCB, isnt worth it
From experience, even having protected NCB makes no difference either. It's a con as they load up your policy more for the previous claim to compensate themselves.
You should have given your nans car a good detail for her !!
She would have liked that, or does she like it dirty !!
Should you not include your personal labor cost??
I see you've replaced the door and boot but they're slightly different colours lol
You are good
Why didn't you protect the paint before hammering jesus cringe
Thank you to
Could have just bought a boot and rear bumper from eBay
Yeah but it would have cost twice as much. 👍🏽
Cool
This channel is much better than salvage rebuilds uk. Editing skills much better, more copart videos would be nice.
Thanks mate! My local copart have never had anything juicy! I keep my eyes pealed 👀
Dream on.
nice car
so that what they mean when they say 'one lady owner'!
This is a no brainer, the rest of the salvage car can be broken and sold as parts too.
Couldn’t you have just bought the replacment parts from a breaker instead of buying a full car 🚗??
Never mind mate. I should probably wait and watch more of the video as I just did before actually commenting 😂😂
It actually makes sense to buy the car now and take the bits. Charge your man what ever and then sell the left over parts to the scrap yard
Whats the point in bidding if its going to cost more than the bid? It should be what you bid is what you pay. Everyone should just not bother with copart and let them go out of business.
I looked into Copart and considered it a rip off merchant. Stop using these types of business and buy from a UK based dealer not a USA based one.
You've got to be so careful because alot of people will buy salvage twisted up cars and dress them up and resell them as a salvage with 'hardly any damage' 3rd party sellers are not to be fully trusted.

Funny how you mite save money on the car but you pay for it in insurance as it now has a category on it
Sold the car at 150 scraps more than that and u can keep wheels and the cat at a bare minimum 🙄
No matter the cost your nan would be worth the spend. They always are.
I hope you didn't charge your Nan 😕

Probably, but that would have been a very boring video ;)
