As a kid my dad and i use to fish on the north fork and hunted on the northside of St helens... I still cant get over how it much it changed to this day ..I have been up to our old hunting grounds and have been told its buried up to a depth of 100 feet
I was at the May 18,1980. I was at the Cle Elm Ranger Station at 8:30 a.m. eruption. When the call came over the radio. Mt.St.Helens has erupted. Heard the young man call and was killed.Saw how the day when darker than midnight.I will never forget.
Video has Good tour up the South Toutle River: Shows Toutle Lake High School, then junction of North and South Toutle Rivers. The intact bridge with truck is the South Toutle Road bridge with destroyed harry gardner Park downstream. The bridge piers with cable is the Weyerhaeuser logging railroad bridge and the destroyed camp is 12-mile on the South Fork Toutle River. How its changed!
He (Jose Arturo Dias) was picked up very soon after by a chopper with a medical crew on board, which he very desperately needed. He died in a hospital from his injuries two weeks later.

Wow. I remember seeing it on tv. I was 28 years old.
Keep at it
I think Man should focus his efforts on disaster relief more. And also building structures on higher areas ;)
Yes! No buildings in earthquake areas, no buildings in tsunami zones,
No nuclear power plants on active faults, ...
I looked at a recent aerial view of this area & houses have been built directly on top of this mudflow area.
