This is so true. I'm a few months into my first job as a full-stack developer, and my manager is still dedicating a lot of time to training me. I’m very grateful for this.
Here’s how I would have prepared differently for this job:
I would have spent most of my time mastering the basics first-and I mean the basics of the basics. If you're going to work on UI, make sure you know your CSS inside and out, just like I know your mom. The bottom line is to learn the fundamentals of the language you're going to work with.
Also, focus on reusability and writing clean code.
Master these skills, and you’ll have a smoother first year.

"just like I know your mom" is wild. Lmao
      Well played.

Love this perspective! A growth mindset and curiosity truly pave the way for long-term success-skills learned today are the foundation for tomorrow's opportunities.

My first job as a graduate was as developer at the Tax Dept in the early 2000s. They were rehashing the tax system. On the 2nd day, the govt advised it was on hold for 6 months. so for 6 months 3 floors of devs just sat about, playing table tennis and talking about stuff. It was the ultimate 6 month team building.
The one thing it taught me, was the gross inefficiency of Govt.

    Hey Stef,
I took your courses a few years ago, and they helped me a lot-I got a job with a Shopify app shortly after finishing them. The job mostly involves dealing with clients' issues with the app. You need to know some programming to handle it, but there’s hardly any real development work. Most of my tasks have been things like updating deprecated React components, fixing files, resolving merge conflicts, or building small features like buttons here and there. But the majority of my time is spent handling client tickets, like complaints about the app messing up their videos or similar issues.
I don’t feel like I’ve learned much about real development. I’ve been in this role for two and a half years now, and I feel like it’s time to move on. The problem is, I don’t feel like I’ve gained enough skills to be proficient at a full development job.
What do you think I should do? Should I just start job searching again or take some more advanced courses first? I guess the experience I have now should count for something, but I definitely wouldn’t consider myself a full-fledged developer.

Even if you haven't done "full development," your experience is valuable. You've worked with real-world applications, dealt with clients, debugged issues, and contributed to features. Highlight these skills on your resume and portfolio-they're relevant to many developer roles.
And what about the idea He shares In the video:
Build Projects That Show Off Your Skills?

You could plug your knowledge gaps building a side projects, even if it's just one. Just make sure it covers enough areas and helps you understand software on a macro level. You'll be fine💪🏽@@ciroelpersa3778

This is not a very positive comment I'm giving, but ... I've graduated in late 2018, and I've almost never been properly trained at work. My first team-leader was expecting me to learn Java FX over a week-end and tried to push the effort of training me off to anyone else.
