The Africans got emancipated which led to the dissolution of slavery however the British had to find a way to keep the plantations going thus the system of indentured laborers were introduced. Indentured laboring was slavery in a diplomatic way;low wages with horrifying life standards. When their contracts were over they were either offered a ticket home or land in guyana where most choose to stay. The Portuguese were never indentured before the Indians. The British instead turned to their race who were of lower class living and the Chinese.

I myself grew up with fetching water from the stand pipe until water was in everyone's yard and then in the house. Look at the child in the bucket as beautiful memories.
