The narrator made an interesting comment at the end, about wanting to be on the edge of learning new techniques. And he tied it in perfectly with ageing and the application of mastery. It's that philosophy that will keep him and like-minded people young at heart
Boy did this vid remind me of the old days. I’ve fished the Nak hundreds of times back in the days when Diver was roaming the falls and the Brooks platform was a sheet of plywood on the ground. Ive fished the Nak, Alagnak, kvichak, kulik and all the rivers south to Mother Goose. Alaska is a brutal unforgiving mistress but I finally got her clingy cold hands off of me when I found rivers in Wyoming that were just as good. Now I can finish my life in a glory current in sight of home. They’ll either find me dead in my house at a tying bench or floating down the river, the latter is preferable. Excellent film guys👍🏻

Nice video. I miss the Nak.The boat can catch you a lot of fish on that river, particularly in the fall. I like being in the water too but, when it's high like that you are so limited. Most of the fish are out too far even casting 140' does'nt reach them.

Anthony, Would you believe those are AK native rainbows? Only place in the state we got steelhead are a few rivers on the kenai peninsula, two rivers on Kodiak island and small native runs in Southeast Alaska on islands that mainly are roadless except prince of Wales island in southeast AK.
These were rainbows but Alaska has several nice opportunities to catch wild steelhead. The guy shown in this video Tony Weaver is a renowned steelhead angler.
AlaskaOutdoorsTV , I got a funny one for you! I happened across a vid from a guy fishing in Alaska for the first time his experience was “snagging” in Seward! Hi Joseph, a combination of various weight fly rods and spey rods. We'll have to double check to see which weights and brands we used on that trip. Thank you for watching.
I wasnt there but i would guess 6-7 wt rods in general based on the size of the fish and the size of the river. It's a fairly big river but quite small fish up to 8 maybe 9 lbs so 6-7 should be plenty good enough. Someone will correct me for sure if i am way off....
