    These comparison documentaries are very informative and entertaining. I look forward to them each morning. I hope you are starting to get some of these shoes sent to you free.
    I put a ton of miles in the Novablast 2 & 3 and both had that heel to forefoot separation. As a midfoot striker, I never noticed it on the run. I also was able to pick up the pace decently because they weren't overly soft and the cushion allowed me to open up my stride and put a lot of force down.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! And it's so interesting that the separation is a feature across the model years - I haven't figured out what the benefit of it is yet but there must be something that has them keeping it alive

    I want to try the NB V4, but so far the NB V3 has been a godsend. Wore it last night in my 2nd workout of the day at marathon pace/power+ and exceeded targets and never once did I think about the shoes, or felt the shoes were holding me back. When I really should have been a bit tired from my 1st workout in the morning. Maybe I've just had a fitness bump, but when I run and I don't even THINK about the shoe....that's what I want. NB V4 I think would be more easy/steady/pure long run shoe. Which isn't bad....but the range (5k pace up to 32KM+ runs) the NB V3 gives me is money!

    • @ielle.
      @ielle. 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To me the NB4 is definitely a slight step down in terms of top-end pace, but I still hit a lot of the same paces as I was hitting in the NB3 with nearly the same perceived effort. It's just that once I'm approaching 10k pace and faster, I notice the NB4 on my feet slightly more than I did the NB3. I think the 4s are more rockered and the 3s were slappier, so in the later stages of longer runs I like the NB4 for that reason. It's also just a much more stable and comfortable shoe all around. I think the 4 could be worn for casual use more comfortably than the 3. The 3 has more of a trampoline effect and more bounce and it's like ASICS had to nerf it like Saucony nerfed the Endorphin Speed 1&2 so that we'd buy their other premium shoes.
      I have 457 miles on the 3 and they're still going strong, and I still feel they have a little pop amazingly enough. The rubber is a little smooth but I still feel protected by the midsole. I'm a very light and efficient runner so I think I'll be getting to 500+. I'm approaching 160 miles in the 4. There are signs of wear and slight deteriorations in the rubber but I believe I'll be getting a similar amount of miles out of these too.

    The first run I did with my Gel-Cumulus 26 was just after a hard rain and I found the grip really good . At least for a 5:40 km/min pace/ moderate speed for me. And the shoes almost seem they have no grip, kind smooth transition from heel to toe. And this Nova Blast 4 looks like they have a tick rubber and should provide good ... but is not the case.
    Shame on you, Asics !

    I like my NB 3 so much I bought a second pair on sale. So I’ll be good this year until the 4 goes on sale. I’m just not sure if I’ll getting the 4 or The rebel v4 even though they are different shoes. I have the DN2 & Superblast for my long runs. However if you’re a fan of NB3 at some point you have to try the next version to appreciate the difference in design and technology.

    • @ielle.
      @ielle. 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel like the 3s pick up the pace a bit better, but the 4s are more comfortable for long runs. I like the NB4 for long-ish runs (like up to a half marathon) that are on the easier to a little moderate side, whereas the Superblast I use for my longer long runs (14+ milers) and the FF Turbo is a little awkward for LSD use so I like them most for progression long runs or long runs where there's a handful of quality miles mixed in. They're sooo smooth at HM and M pace. For LSD I've been using the Triumph 21.

    At the beginning: Novablast 4 FIRM? WHAT?
    That thing is SOFT. it is a little less soft than the NB3, where you swim, but FIRM?
    I mean, i don't know your weight and point of reference.
    If the NB4 is firm to you, the Superblast must feel like a brick for you.
    For my 90kg it is bouncy :)
    Noosa Tri 15 are too firm for me after 6-7km on the road, Kinvara 14 is too stiff. GT-2000 12 is stiff like a brick! Unrunable!
    Searching for a shoe that absorbs shock but isn't too sinky soft and doesn't bottom out. So, an upgrade/alternative to my Novablast 4 TR :)
    I've ordered: Brooks Ghost Max (1), Noosa Tri 16 and Hoka Mach 6.
    The Rebel v4 I didn't, because due to reviews it's too wide and too soft.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Absolutely! It's a super comfortable shoe and I love using it for 2+ hour long runs. If you want a racing shoe with a little lighter weight and more bounce, I'd suggest the Saucony endorphin pro 4. It's the best racing shoe I've tested for 4 hour marathon paces - super comfortable and durable. The novablast 4 is cheaper and is a better option for everyday runs, but the pro 4 will give you a little more pop on race day. It's really about whether you want a simpler shoe or something with a little more speed assistance

      @@supwell I don't know if it was dumb or not, but I went ahead and wore the Novablast 4 on my long run yesterday morning. It was meant to be a 3-hour run with 2:15 at easy pace and the final 45 minutes at marathon pace, which for my goal is just about 8:51/mile. I felt tired the entire run and could only keep up my marathon pace for the first two miles at the end before I basically crashed. Only got about 18.5 miles, when my goal was to hit 20. Honestly, it wasn't too dissimilar from a 2:30 and :30 long run that I did last weekend in my Mach 5. I'm getting a little concerned about my ability to complete the marathon at all, much less sub-4. Do you think the Novablast will feel better the more I wear it? I'm kinda starting to get into a taper between now and May 26. I just need them to take me through 26.2, hopefully with an 8:51-9:00 pace, in a little less than a month! 🤞 For reference, my half PR is about 1:46.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@GFCoyleWVUcongrats on hitting multiple 3 hour long runs! That's pretty beast man. You're probably fatigued from all the training - the reduction in volume you have coming over the next few weeks will help you feel a lot fresher on race day. I would focus on recovery and sleep over the next few weeks to get the biggest benefit from those long runs. Those are some serious workouts - most elites cap their long runs at 2 hours or 2 hours 30 minutes, so you're really putting in the work hitting 3 hours consistently. As for the shoes, I would use them for your daily runs and see if they start to feel better. The biggest thing for a marathon shoe for me is that I feel comfortable and confident in it - if you've done 3 or 4 runs in it and it's not giving you that, then ditch it. My top recommendation if you exchange it for another shoe would be the Saucony endorphin pro 4 - I think I mentioned it to you before. And a 1:46 half suggests you can hit sub-4 for sure especially with all the long miles in training! I wouldn't stress about the time though - the marathon has so many variables and everything has to line up so perfectly to get that goal time. Either way man you've banked that fitness and got huge wins during training, which is what I like to focus on

  • @timtrenholm3698

    Complete wrong direction for the Mach 6 to go. The rubberized EVA bottom on the Mach4/5 provided it's own level of firmness and rigidity, which the upper layer tamed out. It was fast yet cushioned enough.
    I just don't know what Hoka are trying to accomplish with the Mach6. I owned 2 pairs of Mach 4, it was a good shoe which had a wide range, smooth and stable. I've moved on from Hoka as a brand since the 5mm drop ain't my jam anymore. Thankfully, looks like the Mach 6 still keeps it's great lockdown across the foot and heel.

  • @radoslavstoev4550
    @radoslavstoev4550 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That disconnected feel is what I hate about the Novablast 3. I am almost slapping the tarmac with every step. I also have the Mach 5s, which are way smoother in transitions, but lack the cushioning for longer runs(I am also 94kgs, which helps lol). I recently bought the Superblast on a great bargain and I am pleasantly surprised by the shoe - bouncier and much smoother heel to toe transition compared to the Novablast. I may try the Mach 6 in the future.

    What a great review. I currently use Saucony Tempus (love this shoe) for my daily runs and Speed 2s for faster sessions, but I find the Speed 2s a bit too unstable when I'm getting tired. My main priority is for a recovery run shoe, which the Tempus is OK for, but a softer ride would be nice. I was considering the Novoblast, but all the reviews say it's quite a hard ride, so not what I'm looking for. The Mach 6, it seems, may have the soft ride I'm looking for, and possibly also replace my Speed 2s for faster runs. I've looked at most of your recovery run recommendations, but I much prefer lighter shoes than the highly cushioned shoes. So, simple question; could the Mach 6 be the answer? Will it handle the recovery runs with a nice soft ride, as well as the faster runs to replace my Speed 2s?

      @@supwell Oooh. Thank you for this. Didnt expect for you to actually notice 😅
      For my case, Im planning to train for a half marathon this June. Maybe around 7:30-7:50min/km. Currently doing 10kms at 8min/km. Would you recommend the boston 12 as the trainers for me? Thank you again!

      @@rrryunaejuI would go for either the Mach 6 or novablast over the Boston 12 for that. The other two shoes are more comfortable. If you want something that feels a little faster I'd go Mach 6 and for more comfort the novablast
