    Hello friends and welcome, I’m V8 Adam.
    In this video I am showing you my 1972 Buick Riviera. We do a quick walkaround of the exterior, have a listen to the exhaust sound, look at the interior and go for a quick drive.

I certainly enjoy working on her but I do hand off the bigger jobs to my workshop. It is quite surprising how many American workshops there are here in the UK and parts vary. Some are quite easy to get, general GM and engine parts but others are impossible, such as interior dash pieces, or the rubber mouldings around the bumpers. You live in LA? That is so cool, I would love to visit California sometime.

      @V8Adam it was dark blue with a bone color interior and bone color sport landau vinyl top.
      The paint was shot so I had it repainted. I wanted a silver green color but let the shop owner convince me to stay with blue. I picked a medium blue which was pretty, but I should have gone with the silver green. The dash was a sort of olive green. Weird because carpet was brown and all seemed original.

    Adam, great looking Riviera. I had a 72 in high school in the late 70s and loved the car. Was probably the only kid that wore the lap and shoulder belts back then. The car drove and handled so much better when buckled up not to mention being safer. Do you wear the belts when you drive the Riv ?

      @@V8Adam Adam, I had the car until one night in 1982 when a drunk driver crossed the center line and hit me head on. The size of the car, what it was made of and the fact I was wearing my lap and shoulder belts let me walk away with only a very nasty bruise across my chest and abdomen. This was far better than the unbelted drunk that hit me. Those belts really do work, keep wearing them.

    I was always a Riviera fan and had a '66 GS, '67, '69, '71, '71 GS, a new '76, and a 1981. Perhaps you're aware that the '72 model year was the lowest production of the boat tail series? They are getting to be really hard to find. Congrats on your finding one and I hope you have a great time restoring it and getting it back to new condition. I like the color combination you have, it's a great looking car. Enjoy!

    What is the Cost Build this Car up to Modern Everyday Driver?

    • @V8Adam
      @V8Adam  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am afraid that I cannot answer that accurately as there are too many variables such as the condition of the car and your expectations of the end build. What I will say though is that in my experience it is never cheaper to restore yourself. I have seen countless restored cars for sale that have had over £40,000 spent on them (plus the original cost of the car) but they are for sale for around £30,000. The only way you can do it cheaper is to do it all yourself but jobs like paint and trimming should be left to an expert in my opinion. The best advice I have had is - buy the best you can afford and if that is no good, save up and wait.
