I can not get over how fresh as death that cube is. It being shown the whole video and expecting it being just a showing of 2x2 cubes existing, then it being revealed to be an amazing puzzle to both solve and look at was astounding.
Xythulhu saw one of these on youtube about 7 or 8 years back. Used to be really obsessed with them, know them as yoshimoto cubes, but could never get hold of one, being just a kid at the time. Seems a whole lot less spectacular to me now Aha.
I am sitting here, sick as a dog at the moment waiting to feel better, and watching Tim just eases the mind and sounds soothing when he speaks and takes your mind off of being sick and nauseated. I forget all about it and feel better just by marathoning these videos. They're a Godsend. Thanks, Tim and Cool-Camera-Guy.
Its a Yoshimoto Cube, I cannot find the rubix cubed version though. Edit: All I could find when lookign to buy one www.amazon.com/Yoshimoto-Designed-Naoki-MoMA-Exclusive/dp/B01634HWFC.
That One Gaming Channel My guess is that they where flailing the camera about trying to catch the effect but weren't able to and they had to cut it not to have a long boring anticlimax. Or, Tim trailed of trying to justify the lame toy.
I'm surprised there's not more cuts. 99% of the time, Tim can do it all in one take. Once you get so far into a recording, they have to decide whether to rerecord or cut out a bit.
Thanks Tim, your videos are informative and very relaxing to listen to.. This world needs relaxation so you are serving us very well. Thank you for that...
I don't think it's the capacitors that make the sound. My guess would be that it comes from magnetostriction in the core of the transformer that supplies high voltage electricity to the capacitors.
@@bostonrailfan2427 It's a compact strobe recharging after a flash. If you trigger a flash, it then whines audibly (some louder, some very softly, at the edge of hearing) until it's charged to full strobe power again. You can discharge it while it whines, but it'll be dimmer and not the right exposure.
I have trouble sleeping most nights. So I watch your video, you voice is so calming... helps me sleep. And all these toys are just a bonus. Thanks, keep making awesome vids!
Multiple possibilities really. The way we will only know for sure is if someone from his team reply's to this question. Probably just a little mishap they chose not to include in the recording.
Am I the only one who gets the opening music to all these shows stuck in their head for the whole day? I was literally humming the melody for this opening
I've been after a Yoshimoto cube for over twenty years now as seen at 9:14. The only ones I seem to be able to find are over UK£70 and I really don't want to pay that much for one! Anyone got any ideas or links as to where I can find a budget version at all in the UK?
3:13 some of the very early colored photos were taken using 3 cameras(or maybe 3 lens camera) And then you could combine those layers to get colored photos.
The first cut I've noticed from Grand Illusions yet! Tim's an excellent speaker to get these all in one take. Shame to end that streak with a technical mistake (I assume). Love the videos
Pepper Spray i think a novelty is less oriented towards children and usually isn't really meant to be played with, more it's something to use and look strange.
cuts are common with the visual toys, there was one earlier that showed the kaleidoscope effect that he mentioned…the real problem was that it was so obvious that something was cut out of the segment
can some1 tell me what he called the glass lens w/the as on it. I looked up caustic lens (cuz thts what I thought I heard) & couldn't really find anything
Tim. I love how you open our eyes to so many different toys and trinkets etc. but I started to feel like at least 10% of your comments about everything is "nice one". :D I would not dare belittle your excellent collection or your presentation skills. Just saying.

Correct

Sorin Ichim Yeah but so did Michael Jackson
I really appreciate these longer videos.
I love how Tim clarifies when he’s joking after making an obvious joke. So cute
That Rubiks looking toy that flips was so pleasing to look at
yes
+Null Null lol
If anyone finds it, post a link here. I want it so bad....
Its a Yoshimoto Cube, I cannot find the rubix cubed version though. Edit: All I could find when lookign to buy one www.amazon.com/Yoshimoto-Designed-Naoki-MoMA-Exclusive/dp/B01634HWFC.
It's been 30 years... I had no idea how this was called :))))
Holy shit 10 whole minutes of Tim. Christmas has come early.
Yep,It has mate.Mid you,Tim may even do a 20 minute vid at Christmas, you never know.
Wow. Its christmas all year, heh
RAFSWRLD it is a Christmas miracle
That cut at 5:15 was pretty jarring and weird. I wonder why they even cut there.
CDClarke i was thinking that as well.
My bet is he said something pretty jarring and weird.
That One Gaming Channel My guess is that they where flailing the camera about trying to catch the effect but weren't able to and they had to cut it not to have a long boring anticlimax. Or, Tim trailed of trying to justify the lame toy.
probably because the glass toy wasnt working that much as expected and it was getting awkward
I'm surprised there's not more cuts. 99% of the time, Tim can do it all in one take. Once you get so far into a recording, they have to decide whether to rerecord or cut out a bit.
Tim you are an absolute delight to watch! Your passion and enthusiasm is so endearing. Keep it up you hero!
1:31
"Oh yes, I recognize that one..."
Tim's remembering his days of throwing flash grenades
Ah yes fnafsl
if Tim would read me a book before sleep i would go sleep directly. and then he goes " ooh thats nice and tight! ...
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) nice and tight ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
He should record audio books. :)
should i call cops or join?

Souvenirs from the Nile...
That sound that Tim identified as the sound of a timer is actually the sound of the capacitors inside of a strobe charging after a flash.
Johnny J yes exactly ☺
Yes, but the whine did give some indication of the delay between flashes, high pitch, ready to fire again. Perhaps that's what he meant.
I don't think it's the capacitors that make the sound. My guess would be that it comes from magnetostriction in the core of the transformer that supplies high voltage electricity to the capacitors.
not charging, it’s a 35mm camera actually taking the picture with the flash…

"Ooh. That's nice and tight."
So much potential. Someone please quote him out of context.
Who else agrees he should do vlogs of when he goes to all of the toy fairs or just about his day? I would love those.
I have trouble sleeping most nights. So I watch your video, you voice is so calming... helps me sleep. And all these toys are just a bonus. Thanks, keep making awesome vids!
It feels nice in hand, it wobbles and it is fun to play with. :3
Ohhhhhhhh u sly beast u Tim slippin in all those innuendos ;3
I hope you don't mention the first words said in this video
'oh that nice and tight'... oh
B-bye. Cheerio. See you later. Heh.
Heh
No greet for you.
Cheers, Goodbye, Later. Ha.
??? stupid?! stupid!
That litlle phone is charming! I just love your toys Tim!❤️
Why the cut mid sentence?
Because sometimes he.
Tumetron3000 I know! Terrible edit there.
he probably started stuttering, it started when he was showing the Merl25 logo
May have run out of memory on the recording
Cause Tim has a foul mouth! They had to cut it for youtube!
This must be the first Grand Illusions video which is not a full take. Why the cut? Did Tim talk too long? ;P
Multiple possibilities really. The way we will only know for sure is if someone from his team reply's to this question. Probably just a little mishap they chose not to include in the recording.
"Thats all for now. Buh bye. Cheerio. See you later. Heh!"
I will now add "heh" to my vocabulary of farewells!
Wtf were those first words
Uncle Bubbles that's nice and tight?
that's what she said
wooo, that's nice and tight...
Grand Illusions love you're videos
your*
Appreciate these as always. Great work guys!
Do you visit New England so often because it feels like home?
Ah, I wish I had known you were here! Would have loved to come and buy you a pint!!!
I LOVE YOU TIM!!
One of my favorite youtube channels since I first saw his umbrella video
9:12 I was NOT expecting that from this little puzzle. What a delightful surprise. : )
Am I the only one who gets the opening music to all these shows stuck in their head for the whole day? I was literally humming the melody for this opening
such interesting stuff to research! does anyone else go straight to google after watching tims videos?!
Yup
Excellent. Best episode ever.
GOD DAMN IT! THEY GOT HIM!
thats not tim, THATS A SYNTH!
both deck of cards are very interesting. Thanks for the video, Tim
The image of a dude walking down the street carrying that huge picture frame is giving me great joy

GamingMill use wish
I don't know if this is late but you can buy that very cube on grand illusions website for £10
3:13 some of the very early colored photos were taken using 3 cameras(or maybe 3 lens camera) And then you could combine those layers to get colored photos.
Remember the good old days, when you didn't have to wait for a 13sec intro before you delve into Tim's wonderful array of toys and such?
Khronos_ no
I love this style of intro and outro for this channel
Can someone tell me where I can get that coloured cube plz
californiacreations.net/store/all-products/amazing-starcube-274.html
David S. Doing gods work.
I wasn't ready for that cube.
Nothing like waking up to a couple bong rips and watching Tim, heh!
You handled those hands well , I have to hand it to you, hands down the best toy hands
Tim that's a very nice hand you've got th''WELL HANDS'SAH!''
1:35 That's not a delay mechanism, it's just the sound of the flash capacitor charging.
The wiggly green pen is intended to be in a cup or small spot with many others to look like a plant, I believe.
It reminded me of a quill pen in green plastic :)
Does anyone know what those pens are named?
Search for "Grass Pens", and you should find them.
I had a shirt like that one. And I loved it. I wore it every where I could. And had fun doing it .
Tim I love your videos! They make me want to go a toy fair. Keep up the good work!
A jump cut at 5:15?? Aren't the grand illusions episodes usually done in one long take? 😜
The first cut I've noticed from Grand Illusions yet! Tim's an excellent speaker to get these all in one take. Shame to end that streak with a technical mistake (I assume). Love the videos
1:32 - That's actually the sound of a flash charging. Timers just have a series of shot beeps.
"Huh that's nice and tight "- Tim 2016
Heh.
20 sec in and Tim already makes a innuendo. 😂 😂 😂
What makes a thing a novelty vs a toy?
Pepper Spray i think a novelty is less oriented towards children and usually isn't really meant to be played with, more it's something to use and look strange.
The idea of Tim walking down the street with the giant frame makes me chuckle XD
Oh boy, a jumpcut at 5:15? I need an explanation please.
aw man, I live in boston, I wish I had seen you! I love your videos
On top of your game Tim. Seriously. Thanks.
The image of someone carrying around the giant picture frame telling everyone “Look! I’m in frame!” makes me laugh
wish i could have seen ya tim, come back to boston sometime!
1:32 That sound is an external flash charging the capacitor.
That cut there was pretty strange, I think it's the only cut I've seen yet since these are usually done in one take I'm assuming. Odd.
cuts are common with the visual toys, there was one earlier that showed the kaleidoscope effect that he mentioned…the real problem was that it was so obvious that something was cut out of the segment
Tim, did you visit Newbury Comics while you were there? I think I've seen two thirds of these items in that store! ;)
That cube at the end BLEW MY MIND
This is the only toy channel worth watching
4:14 why'd they ruin their perfect unbroken shot? They're usually good about keeping things going
what did they cut out? WE NEED TO KNOW! 5:15
I'm a big fan of Edward Gorey, those cards look marvellous.
6+ minute Grand Illusion videos always make my day :) heh
The vermeer thing is brilliant in my opinion. I am actively trying to find out how i can buy one.
Dammit Tim! I would have loved to meet you, had i known that you visited my city!
It would be a good idea if Tim films his trips while he is visiting places.
Where do you keep all this stuff
Does anyone know what that baaing sheep is called? As in where you would acquire one of them?
I love the way he says "orf"
It's a rocket taking orf!
when he took apart the cube my brain exploded
Fantastic stuff,Tim!
what happened at 5:15? The video jumps.
ok,where can I buy this cube without leaving my city?
Gene Wilder at 9:30?

Welcome to My Hometown Tim

Why the jump at 5:15?

Guys. Guys I need that Rubics cube cause I love colorful thing and fidgeting with my hands. Does anyone know where I could find it?
9:11 my OCD went wild when that one pencil was above all the others.
hello, i love your videos, but could activate community subtitles to expand your videos to another langages ?

I wonder if boston has any water from the nile
Delay mechanism? That's a flash charging up.
Those coasters are totally awesome
