      Lucas Topham we need good gcses and a levels, and when we are in year 13 we take the SAT exam which americans take to get into university. we register online for it and go up to london to take it. talk to your career advisor at school and do lots of research on where you want to go, for example for me i’m taking a trip in the summer year 11 - 12 to California to go round colleges. good luck!

      Lucas Topham if you don’t have a rich family and can’t pay for the unis in America (like me). Cause I’ve always wanted to go to Harvard. If you can’t afford it then apply for scholarships in the U.K. then the scholarship would pay for the school in America. Just try and do as well as you can in GCSES and A levels

    • @aprilxiao9129
      @aprilxiao9129  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have to give proof of bank statement when you apply or any sponsor's bank statements. LA is very expensive to live in, the dorms and dining halls are pretty pricy but there are different types of housing you can get that's cheaper - coming from London I'd say its pretty similar living expenses except for the fact that there isn't much available public transport so you have to uber everywhere. I'm sorry I don't think I can give you an exact estimate.

    Hi I am from the UK and in year 11 and I was wondering if you have to take the tests they do in America like SATS (or are A levels and GCSE’s enough). Also I would love to go to university of Hawaii at manoa, university of colorado boulder, UCLA or Stanford. I know they are all hard to get in to too but if anyone can recommend me which one is best that would be amazing. Thanks

    • @ae7059
      @ae7059 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You do have to take the tests to get in, but they’re gcse level so they’re not too bad, id recommend the SAT cos it’s English and maths whereas the ACT is English maths and SCIENCE, some courses require you to take specific exams so look the courses up on the uni websites and see requirements

    • @ae7059
      @ae7059 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hawaii is vibes, but uni wise unless your gonna go to a top uni for grad school, it’s just not got the connections and the high quality education you’d get at UCLA or Stanford, don’t know much about Colorado, I’d recommend ucla undergrad cos they’re a lot more undergrad friendly and less intense and then Stanford after, but apply to both cos you never know, good luck !!

    • @aprilxiao9129

      Gracie I went to Kings College London and the application process tends to work that you first have to apply internally to your home uni, if you have good enough grades then you can go through with it, then you apply to your exchange unis, and UCLA was particularly difficult because you had to apply through the UC system first, get accepted to UC generally then chose specific campuses. And for finances if you are from the UK then the tuition fees for an exchange year is reduced to like £1500 or so, which student loans will easily cover, and it definitely depends where you want to go specifically because LA is very expensive, but you can try to get a job over here, though your visa does limit the number of hours you’re allowed to work. Hope this helps!

      @@aprilxiao9129 thank you April. There is a Lot-to-be said about such study, as you may well be finding (& I do
      mean to do with what you had formally learned in U.K.).
      I studied many years ago as undergrad U.K. doing my honours course in the History of Ideas.
      I'd always thought & applied to pure philosophy degree courses back then but then I saw that
      my Home U.K. University was running that H.o.I course & I just had to apply (I'd much self study
      "behind me" so to speak & had been wonderfully exposed to K.R. Popper's brilliant work too ;
      later I became to understand why he himself was one true historian-of-Ideas as well as of course
      a true Emeritus Philosopher..).
      I would & could have done my final year course-of-study somewhere like the U.S.... following
      on from a similar lecture path that Sir Karl did in the 1960's, I believe, where he did a few lectures
      over there in Emory college or University et al. I think that he there also "met" Einstein upon
      whom he tried to impress him in "giving up" his Determination" - that is I suppose Einstein's
      COMPLETE reliance on Physical SCIENCE being capable of Explaining & so mapping-out-
      Everything in scientific terms. Well sir Karl didn't succeed by all accounts ; and YET not too
      many years later some science INFLUENCERS released their much vaunted THEORY of
      EVERYTHING.... a semi-ridiculous determination that attempted to show THAT Science was
      (or still is) ON THE VERGE OF EXPLAINING EVERYTHING (at least "of human importance" I
      guess. Laughable I know.. especially as one young Girl like Greta Thunberg courageously
      and critically argued that EVEN SCHOOLCHILDREN were not being TAUGHT THE TRUTH
      (like Environmental truth that is, another name for environmental "science truth" too).
      It should be believed then that such ridiculous "Science determinism" is today in & outside
      of our western Universities, widely accepted as as so capable of explaining "human futures
      and human truths". If only IT WERE...

U have to take 1 of them, not both and u can decide which one u take out of the 2. Most take the SAT cuz the SAT is a lot less time pressured but it really is down to personal preference, some do better in SAT, others do better in the ACT. There’s lots of TH-cam videos comparing the sat and the act exams so you can search them and decide which one suits you the most.
