If I remember correctly it's hinted by Actrice in Carrie's story that the kids were going to be used as a sacrifice
Here in 2024.
The kids in Henry's mode were kidnapped (along with Malus) when Gilles de Rais, Actrise, and Death were looking for the reincarnation of Dracula among the village's children, it's sort of hinted at in Malus's dialogue. Not trying to lord over you with my mighty castlevania knowledge, just thought you might still be curious XD. I might be one of the few people who actually thinks Dracula having access to advanced technology makes sense, think about it; you're immortal, have a grudge against humanity, and you need to kill time between Belmonts, so why not look into the mysteries of the universe and develop lethal weaponry from it? Legacy of Darkness Dracula is the Carl Sagan of the Castlevania Universe.
I had never played a CASTLEVANIA game until this one.... and got SO much game for my money! Took me forever to do absolutely everything in the game... every story , cross story , endings... etc. LOVE THESE GAMES. Is it bad that these are My favorits???

I always thought that the children were kidnapped because Dracula's minions were trying to locate an appropriate vessel for Dracula's reincarnation (which ended up being Malus).
While does this video only have 685 views!? I'm going to have to go kick some ass.
I just watched this video, but I gotta say, even in 2017 I consider Castlevania LoD to be the best 3D game in the series and one of my top 5 favorite Castlevanias
At least Henry's story is nowhere near as bad as Big's story in Sonic Adventure.

It was Producer Igarashi and he later regretted unearthing the timeline. Strangely all the games were put back in for Portrait of Ruin's official timeline, except for Legends. Iga was trying to make order out of chaos, but at the time the series had like 20 games and almost as many development teams who worked on them. I still keep a candle lit so to speak for Castlevania Resurrection.

Awesome. I love sushi. I was wondering in Legacy of Darkness when playing as Henry and trying to save all 7 kids. This one part at the beginning i noticed that green and blue jello taste the same. Mind boggling. Great vids cant wait to see the finished game room
the only thing castlevania lod couldn´t get over c64 was that press start violin solo
I'm pretty sure Legacy of Darkness did away with that "unfinishable Easy Mode" garbage. I finished the game with Cornell and Henry on Easy. Now I'm playing as Reinhardt on Easy and I'm on the clock tower level.
Haha, yeah, since this was a direct follow-up to my Halloween in May video I thought it would be a nice nonsensical way of starting my ACTUAL Halloween video. I also considered calling it, "Halloween in Halloween", but that might have been TOO ridiculous...or would it...?
Love how your username is goeman, a great unusual game on the n64, love the robo battles.
This is still the most entertaining video on Castlevania Legacy of Darkness.

People might think I'm crazy but, despite it's short comings this is still my favorite 3D Castlevania. I could of done without a few frustrating sections,touchy platforming and lack of music in most parts. All in all I really enjoyed this back in the day. This version was the way to go if you had a choice between the original N64 game and this. Nice video and commentary!
Actually I believe it's Henry Oldrey from the Oldrey Mansion.
I still am more interested in the ideas that were shown in the Dracula 3D tech/beta video, Carrie Fernandez (whom was a Belnades but had her name altered for some reason) had a lot more magic power, Cornell was more acrobatic and could attack off of walls, and Rienhart Schneider (formerly a Belmont) could whip across chasms. but while I'm wish I would have also liked to see Castlevania Resurrection (aka DreamCastlevania) get finished
I knew there was something unfamiliar when I watched footage and reviews of the previous game, the main character. This was actually the game I played as a kid, not its predecessor, the game seemed familiar but neither of the two characters did, but this cornell did. I am a bit glad that this was the game I played and not the inferior one.

legacy of darkness may not be THE best castlevania, but it would be one of my top 5, but would be the best 3D castlevania (yes better than lament of innocence and curse of darkness)

yeah i still also liked castlevania 64, sure the camera was weird, and the controls felt a little loose in that game, but they weren't that big of a problem, honestly they weren't that hard to get used to

Shadow11614 Totally agree, i always loved C64 since it came out, being a Castlevania fan since a kid i was very excited by it and it became one of my favs, Legacy of Darkness is just the best version. Can't understand the hate on both games, they are the best 3d Castlevania.
I have a lot of nostalghia for all 3 games but upon replaying LoI I kinda was underwhelmed. Still need to replay CoD, I remember it being better than 64.

This game does allow you to get through all the way to the ending on easy mode ;)
If you play it on an emulator, you can get higher high-resolution without the mind-boggling slow-down.

Many Castlevania fans say this is the much better edition. It certainly looks pretty good.
Ah! Since it's life or death... To be honest, I'm not a big fan of steak at all. When I DO eat steak though...man, I'd like to say bloody tears read because that just sounds awesome! :) In truth though, I like all of my meat cooked well done (burgers, steak etc.). The only food I like to eat rare or raw comes from the sea, but I do enjoy a rare Filet Mignon every once in a great while (budget depending). I hope that helps! Happy cooking!

I did think of something: If you do another game music podcast(which would be great) you gotta put some genesis tunes in there, I made a frowny face only getting one sega song in there. And if you do another one, I could give you a list of good tracks.

The reason Henry must save the children is linked to Carrie's bad ending.
Spoiler Warning
Dracula has rounded up these kids to see who has a magical power that can kill Dracula, so he plans to make them his suitor in his reincarnated body, Malús, while his servant impersonating him is throwing Carrie and Reinhardt off.
None of the kids were the correct child so he left then there to be sacrificed all over the castle. If you don't save the kids Death sacrifices them to power up the king of vampires himself, up.
During both Reinhardt and Carrie's journey Malús learns Carrie is the one and plans to wed her to make her his
dark queen since after her mother died she became an atheist, Dracula saw this as an opportunity to corrupt her.
Canonically Carrie gets the bad ending, but she didn't face the imposter Dracula, Malús proposed to her, after she kills Actrise. Reinhardt got to the tower to fight the imposter Dracula in under 16 days and discovers Malús true intentions.
Reinhardt fights Dracula who turns back into kid form to throw them off thinking Malús was possessed, Carrie tries to comfort him, but the elderly vampire hunter, Charles uses holy water on him to tell them don't be fooled he is indeed Dracula..
Angered by the humans, and unsuccessful to manipulate his bride-to-be, fights in his true form. After Reinhardt defeats Dracula, both Reinhardt and Carrie's good ending commence as they should ending for story

I played this game on easy and this actually does let you continue on easy
although easy mode on this game is... too easy :\
