Uggghh...I hate it when sequels don't connect with the first movie. I mean, what's the point of making a sequel if they aren't going to connect it to the first movie? Anyway, awesome review as always Alyssa!
Thanks, Ronyell! Yeah, there's only a vague connection to start things off here. But this movie's been much better wrapped into the franchise with the later movies at least!
This sequel pales in comparison to the first installment as far as campy yet uneventful Dialogue with a lack of enthusiastic villain Cole hauser. The chemistry from Roman & Brian was cool. It was meh everywhere else. Fantastic review as always Alyssa.
Thank you! Yeah, I think the villain is one of the weaker aspects here. He doesn't quite fit into the tone, but at least he gives Roman plenty if material to work with haha
Truth be told, this film kinda felt like one of those "Epic Movie" or "Scary Movie" or "Teen Movie" kind of parody film to the original back then, and only two things stuck with me, one being Devon Aoki (because obviously), the other the pressing question of why was Brian driving an RHD at the beginning of the movie. Other than that, it's kinda blank. You did convince me to watch the Mission: Impossible films (of which, coincidentally, I'd only watched the first two prior to your reviews), so I may just book a weekend or something to watch the rest, see how that goes. Now, what I really, REALLY want to know is the backstory of that Dom garage/bowling shirt of yours xD As for sequels with just one cast member, I'm gonna cheat just a little and say Blade Runner 2049 since Sean Young was digitally recreated and not actually cast, and Edward James Olmos was there just for the briefest of cameos. I was gonna go with Rogue One (ha), but Jimmy Smits, Genevieve O'Reilly and Anthony Daniels all reprised their roles, even if they were also barely more than cameos.
It's definitely a silly, ridiculous franchise but I find the Fast & Furious movies to be surprisingly enjoyable. Certainly a more pay-off/rewatch enjoyment for me though. Finally a question you can't answer with Star Wars haha
1. 2 Fast 2 Furious is a silly, enjoyable movie...You get to see Brian after the 1st movie...Get introduced to Roman, Tej, Suki (MUST BRING HER BACK IN F10 AT LEAST!) and Monica...Not important for the story/ characters in the franchise...but MORE PAUL AND TYRESE...I'M IN! 2. I'd say JUMANJI....The returning cast member was very important - THE GAME BOARD ITSELF....Sorry for the cringe😁 TBH I LOVE TOKYO DRIFT....JUST FOR HAN! Vin's cameo in it must make it count for the Q.2 right?! ANYWAYS, I'M VERY EXCITED FOR YOUR REVIEW ON TOKYO DRIFT AND OTHER FF MOVIES...WILL ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU AND THE CHANNEL! LOOKING FORWARD! LOVE YOUR REVIEWS!
Right? I don't understand why they haven't brought Suki back by now. Everybody else has been wrapped back into the story, so I'm sure they could come up with a plot reason for her to appear in 10. Thank you, I appreciate it!
Yeah, not a fan of this one. Not bringing back Vin Diesel in the second movie was a huge mistake, which lacks the heart of the original in almost every scene of this movie, and even with Paul Walker trying, 2 Fast to me always felt like a direct-to-DVD bargain bin movie you'd find for $3 at Walmart. Easily the worst film in the franchise for me.
@@MainelyMovies Tokyo Drift felt more like a spinoff film to me, whereas 2 Fast should have been a spinoff film instead of the first big sequel. Dom Toretto is one of the hearts of the franchise, and it made no sense to me why he didn't show up in the first sequel.

Great review, Alyssa! This was long before Brian and Roman became secret spies. Lol
Thanks, Chris! Right? Now they're all superhero secret agents haha.

Yup, it's not until Fast Five that they really tried to tie this story in with the rest.
@@MainelyMovies They Did The Same With The Fast And The Furious Tokyo Drift
Yup, which is why I discussed it in the Recommended Films section.

My favorite sequel that one features one cast member is Godzilla
Which Godzilla? There are like 36 Godzilla movies 😆
