Fura is a millet smoothie a recipe from the Northern part of Nigeria/Ghana
Ingredients:
Millet
Ginger
Dried pepper
Cloves
Grains of Selim
Black Pepper

This is definitely a northern appetizer we call it "hura" that's the native name. A northerner will never say fura but Hura. Both names are accepted. When you go to places like katsina the first thing they will give you as a guest is (hura) before water. There are many ways of making hura. You can make it in few hours without fermenting and it's tastes deliciously and you can skip using the milk and use yoghurt especially real one from the farm(kindirmo) the taste is superb. I lived in Kaduna when i was young, as a matter of fact my mom is still there. We us to drink fura a lot and kunu, you are right they usually serve in a calabash bowl. For the life of me I don't know this existed different dishes and snack around the world. What's the purpose of scooping the top of the millet before transferring to heat. It does look delicious sis wow..
Wow sis you don’t know fura da nono? It’s from the Northern part of Nigeria. It’s very refreshing it’s just like akamu. It’s just that the millet is not sifted. I scooped out the top because it was left for 2 days and the top was kind of dry. I appreciate you sissy 😍

I always learn something but most importantly how african recipes are somehow same we have something similar to this in Kenya but we call it porridge but we just use plain millet sometimes add other cereals but it looks exactly like this just different method and ingredients
