It's dated 1897 Birmingham but i cant find the maker... yet! only other thing to note is that in my guide book it says that if the anchor is laying on its side it could be platinum? dunno about that but could be worth getting tested, good luck for the future.
Oh thats interesting, someone found the maker for me on FB I cant think at this minute what it was, thats interesting about the platinum, did they have platinum in 1890?
Its not a B, i think its either a N or an H, but this is something i will work on, I'm stubborn like that, i know for definite the date is correct as the style of the X cant be confused with another year, if you look online at a web site that shows hallmarks you can see for yourself. its a shame the last letter is so difficult to see, I'm determined to find out i like a challenge

No I dont have to report them, if they had been purposely hidden then maybe, but they were a spill and not over 300 years old so they are ok to go in my little treasure box

They most certainly did, it was discovered in 1735 and out of interest who was the maker?
